Not really seeing the point of placing souls in the firejackets or making specialized firejacket commanders.  I mean it's sort of useful but is that really the best use we can come up with for souls?
No, it's not.

Maybe having booned priests control them but that's as far as I would go.
Or something like that.

Is it worth so many losses just to not have to give up some food?
Trust me they cannot afford it. They can barely feed themselves.
Depends on the town. Just like modern times.

As well a charging lance even on a giant could easily cripple it. As well Giants do not possess the wound resistance (outside of dulled pain from their incredible size) and thus could be killed by a simple cut along a major artery.
How many major arteries could you reach? You can't reach above the ankle, maybe the calf, and any halfway intelligent giant would be wearing boots.

Quote
Mind you if the Giant was more intelligent and thrown rocks... I cannot think of many ways outside an outright military unit that could stop it.
Waddya know...
1. Giants in many fantasy worlds (including D&D, a major influence on fantasy in general and DF in specific) throw boulders.
2. Giants have the INTELLIGENT tag but not, last time I checked, SLOW_LEARNER, making them about as smart as humans.

leather high boots of giant size would ruin the humans' attacks
Good luck on the Giant getting enough leather.
If you're a giant, you could just wrestle an elephant, snap off a tusk, stab it in the heart, and fashion boots from its hide. Giants are, like, 30 feet tall.

Actually I just thought of something. Right now we have very few Semimegabeasts and Megabeasts in vanilla.
Perhaps this discussion should be going in the dirrection of how to use these concepts with new Semimegabeasts to make very well constructed and interesting ones.
Not in my opinion. You could say what semi/megabeasts would need, in your opinion, to do these things, but suggesting new S/MB's to fill those needs would fall under the purview of a new thread.

Mind you the (Semi)Megabeasts do need to breed more. They are so unthreatening they can be easily killed on mass.
En masse, but yeah.

The ashes, once cooled down, are mostly safe.
Vulcanic ashes are microscopicly small and razor sharp. They're pretty bad for the lungs.
...If inhaled.

That's why we camoflague it to hold it long enough for us to come back.
We can't camouflage the smell.

I don't want to do any killing or possessions. We may end up having to kill the cleric, but everyone else is just so easily manipulated.
Why not?
Quote
We can stick with this group for a good long time until they kill eachother through our manipulations.
Why are you against possession, then? It's just manipulation.
Because we kill the mind of the possessed and basically assume their form.
1. Where did you hear this? I assumed that the possessee's mind was just supressed.
2. If so, so what?

Kobolds are also intelligent. No one makes better traps than kobolds.

About time we punished him.

A. A Proposal to Punish Jebyg
As Jebyg has been condemned and not punished, it has been proposed that Javier infect Jebyg with Godly Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome as punishment. As a punishment, this requires a simple majority.

I feel we should generally go more the logistic approach, but for now we don't really need to work on that. Time for it later when we aren't already at our base. (why make them able to grow anywhere while they don't need to grow anywhere?)
To answer the question, why would they not need to grow anywhere?

Sigh.

WHY IS A DEER NOT ENOUGH, ANYWAYS?
AND WHY DON'T YOU THINK WE COULD GO BACK TO GET ANOTHER DEER?
AND THE GOLEM IS A FOOT TALL.

...Ansd why do peoplke keep ninjaing me so O need to t5ypd fast to not hget ninjad agaion?
Because why not get more? Also, it would be more time efficient to go on as opposed to coming back.
1. Why would we, though?
2. We're not the only things in this wood. There's probably lots of little critters. Do you want to risk a fox or something ruining the deer because we couldn't drag it back to town?

Kick, kick, kick until it feels authority!

Pick up the body.
Roll what's left of the monster to the shop.
Sell monster.

Association with the "rat" :P
Oh?
Kobolds may be seen as vermin, but drow and chromatic dragons are both monsters.

Quantity has a quality all its own.

I can't really object to that, especially as it would likely have uses outside the military sphere.

37289
Yeah, luck is the quality of gear that you get. My generator can handle anywhere between -100 and 100 luck, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem to implement. Also, on an interesting note, weapons spawned from both 100 and -100 luck both tend to have universe destroying capabilities. As in on a test roll with a 100, it made a space-capable vehicle that could easily destroy the world and turn this into Looter's Delight: A Deathmatch with Treasure in Space! Which could be pretty cool, now that I think about it...
...Please show me the loot generator.
