Can I join wait list? I love RMGs.
Sure. What do the R and M in RMG stand for?

We shouldn't overlook(longevity of shadow objects permitting) adding another mask, or costume bits, with our powers.
On the outside: big beefy shadow armor monster swinging around a sword.
Inside: A lady wearing a hoodie, balaclava, sweatpants... etc.
Though, since we apparently want to be a hero, the sword should probably be a mace or club.
Wouldn't that be heavy? We don't have super-strength...
And who needs a deadly weapon when you can suck peoples' souls? When we kill people, that should be our modus operandi. When we don't need to kill people, swords and maces are too deadly anyway.

Really all we need is face and fugue hiding so GWG but with the goalie mask(for remembering)
Wait, why is the goalie mask better?

Not even an inch, it just exudes a sort of misty-haze around itself when you aren't concentrating.
Okay. I can see how that might be a problem in prolonged fights if we've got a visor on.
Which is why I propose a blank party mask. It's creepy, and we can clasp it around our head with shadows, much more reliable than string, and we can armor the inside of it. Well, except for the eye parts. We might have to put black lenses in there.
Then we put on the armor, and bam. Instant creepy armor getup.
As for heroic name? Eh.. I think it'd be better if we remain silent behind the mask. Lets see what the papers come up with.
Agreed. Silence is golden.

Remember, rancor, you promised to build a temple.

Have the Eladrin continue to fight evil when they can, while spreading the word of Draco and telling them that (what's the name of rancor's city?) is a good place to live. Make sure to advised them not to attack anything they can't handle. Continue to grant miracles of various sorts through Tylea and her disciples to continue to attract worshipers. To combat unjust tactics used by other gods, both "good" and "evil," as well as to reduce the crowds bugging Tylea, require that those requesting miracles to Tylea be worshipers of me (although I won't deny miracles being asked on behalf of someone other than the asker). If rancor Usael builds the promised temple, I will have Tylea personally go to it and give it her blessing, as will the Eladrin; I will also grant a minor blessing, like a luminous altar or something, as specified by Tylea or Usael. Mostly, gather my strength for a truly great miracle I am planning, and invest some to attract worshippers.

Foocubus are in the pipeline.
I don't want anything you have in any kind of "pipeline".
Really, damn, well you're missing out.
Afraid I have to agree with mcclay here. Mind you, go ahead and make it, but...don't try to force it down our throats.
...Which came out MUCH worse than intended...
You too? Oh well maybe Celestia has a more open mind...
Again, go ahead but don't force me to join or anything like that.

I just read through 250 replies. You guys talk fast...

GWG, updated your crimewatch list recently?
No. I just got here after a few hours and Chrome has so many tabs from various threads that I can't even see all the Bay12 icons.

Elves...Dwarves...Wyverns...now all we need is Goblins and Kobolds.
They're not elves!
...Intentionally...

Two lived, and were cured by Draco; not carriers anymore.
I really need to read the turn, don't I?

Are my current Eladrin physically mature, or will they need to wait until they're 50 years old or so chronologically?
Already mature.
Excellent. Turns are a decade apiece, right?
And is that "Age 50 is physical maturity" equivalent to a human at age 18, 15, 21, puberty, or what?

1 baklava +1 hoodie+1 sweatpants+2 sneakers+2 socks+2 gloves=Cheap but effective costume. Color, paint, and underwear to taste.

That's a stupid idea. What kind of name is "Hugh-Manatee?" And are they a race of mirrors?

38698
Well, that didn't go as planned. Repeat in exactly the same manner, because we all know that the most popular definition of insanity is the polar opposite of correct.
That went exactly as I intended. We're on top of a deer, aren't we?

But then he just needs to backstab a skeleton--or shoot it--and then my necromancer's spine is ready to be severed.

Anyways, lasers can cause grevious damage to a body with a single shot. In an antimaterial role, it could presumably melt the armor of a vehicle. Obviously, it's not too energy-efficient, but by the time you get FTL you're throwing lots of controlled energy around anyways.
In most cases however, a bullet with the same force won't even leave a body/vehicle to shoot at.
How do you fire a bullet at lightspeed, or so I have no idea what you mean?
Really fast. Nah, but the advantages of laser is speed and accuracy, but where a laser vapourizes what it shoots at, the bullet just deforms, doing more damage for less energy.
I doubt that vaporization can ever be considered LESS damage than anything...and, again, once you get FTL you're probably harnessing the equivalent of modern-day cities to power children's toys.

Force, not speed. A solid projectile can easily put out much more force without having to move at light speed.
Lasers are a lot cheaper to get moving at lightspeed, and it's not the speed that breaks stuff with lasers. It's the heat.
Force is tricky when dealing with light. Light is pretty much massless, so there's no force either. Just heat and such.
Well there would be recoil. If you're using enough energy to vaporize a tank, that is a ton of light and energy in one spot, and light has energy and momentum, which will cause noticeable recoil.
Photons have NO mass. If you turn on a flashlight, do you feel recoil? Why not, the photons are moving at the speed of light?

Depens on the type of FTL. Alcubierre warp drives are very energy efficient once constructed. Handwavium drives are even better.
I'm assuming increases in energy technology roughly equivalent to those in spaceflight. Any FTL is WAY more than we have now.

It all depends on efficiency. Once you can muster enough energy, lasers are often the better choice. (Not always, overheating problems are annoying). Why would you need to completely vapourise a thing when scrapping it is enough. For the same amount of energy you'd need to kill one human by laser, you can probably shoot ten.
I agree with this stuff, but lasers do have some advantages.
Versatility--it works about as well on heavily-armored tanks as rabid squirrels. You just need to aim at something important on the tank and the center-of-mass of the squirrel.
Accuracy--Aside from dissipation and perhaps diffraction, nothing changes the direction of a laser.
Ammunition--Lasers use electricity. Assuming advancements in energy storage roughly proportional to those in energy overall, it's probably easier to carry a battery with enough juice for 5,000 shots than it is to carry 5,000 bullets--and you don't need to change the clip. Assuming the assumed improvements in power generation assumed for lasers in the first place, it's also easier to replace.

Also, bullets are harder to deflect. A field of particles or some really good mirrors completely negate a laser.
I'd disagree. Lasers of sufficient power can burn through mirrored glass and the like, while bullets can be "deflected" by mundane armor.

Actually, light has energy and momentum, but no mass. Momentum is a result of energy, not mass.
Momentum equals speed times mass. Mass = 0 Momentum = 0
By that logic, light isn't affected by black holes.
Hm? How do you figure? Isn't acceleration due to gravity based on the sum of the squares of both masses?

Err, guys. Can we stop arguing? This really doesn't matter and I don't want the whole operation shut down....
This is sci-fi. Lasers are very relevant, hence this is a germane topic.
