Roll To Dodge / Re: Perpublicon: Round 1: Toaster Vs Tsuchi

I have an idea for a pretty specific word. "Sacrificial." If a sacrificial item is used to kill someone directly (ie, a sacrificial knife would work if you stabbed someone with it, and while sacrificial arrows would work, to use a sacrificial bow you would need to smack someone over the head with it), it absorbs a number of points equal to their maximum Pool; these points can be spent on powerful spells, although whether as spare Pool points, a bonus to the roll/counteracting penalties, or what, I don't know.

Advance!

EDOT: Thanks, a1s. I found a couple that didn't match up to what you said was there and deleted them. Goodbye, golden d20 and ornate golden D on yellow...

Gold, I'm the one that first mentioned that bad shit was going down, IIRC. :P Though I suppose you might have run with it.
I don't remember you mentioning it much at all.

((Okay so forewarning Scylla is released today, so I might suddenly vanish from the everything))
Scylla?

Akroma, are you there?

((They still should be. Or at least shouldn't be bad unless it was a task the requires delicacy.))
What, butchery? It's not brute strength, kj.

+1 Potency

Help Derm up, follow him into portal room. Celebrate.
Look meaningfully at Bigf01t.

I am not sure wether an emotion-analysis programm would have actually done anything to make ICARUS likeable. Most people might not really welcome it when an uncaring robot calmly holds a monologue precisely analysing your emotions for everyone to hear. Such a robot would have to come with a very soft memory foam on her face and a very flexible neck, because of all the slappings it would receive.
...?

ETA?
When I have more than a few minutes before I need to go to class, maybe.

I was addressing Cado's claims that 6's were supposed to be good.

is great for messing with large numbers or doing other time-consuming-math-you-could-get-wrong like messing with matrices.
On the other hand, I am taking a statistics class now, and I won't have access to Wolfram Alpha during the exams and such.

So I blow up the computers and feed Simus to Xan. Problem solved!
You don't know what a spotter is, do you? The spotter points to targets and tells the artillery where they are. The artillery crew/computer either follows these instructions and bombards the target, or does something wrong and shells their own position.

Okay heres the plan:

Step 1: somehow knock Simus unconscious.
Step 2: tie her arms to Xan and her legs to the thundertron.
Step 3: have them run in opposite directions
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Xan is running around engulfed in green fire and the Thundertron lies in a disassembled heap, because phase suit, grenade launcher, and mad mechanic skills. :P
Step 6: Jim, Miyamoto, et al begin punishing the lynch mob.
Step 7: Someone points out thst the targeting computers are to blame.
Step 8: SMASH THE COMPUTER!

And the thundertron has angular plate designed to deflect hypersonic projectiles, a grenade is simply gonna ricochet off and if it detonates the blast will simply flow along the armor with no force behind it.

ClF or no, grenades are only gonna damage the exterior plating which happens to be fashioned from recycled ship hulls, hulls capable of surviving atmospheric re-entry.
Right, because armor-piercing grenades are impossible.
And surviving reentry just means you are heat-resistant.

I dunno, Xan can alter his form at will. He could probably just fireproof himself and drop any damaged parts.
I doubt that. Want an in-depth explanation?

I wonder if whats left of team F would have the option to defect if we lynched her.
Your only option would be if you wanted a blindfold in your last moments or not.

She's getting lynched, one way or the other.
No. She isn't.

Have you considered that your ghost armor isnt foolproof? Or fallproof? [1]
Or that miyamoto may choose not to protect you? or that he may be otherwise unable to do so? [2]
Or that someone might explode another fuel tank next to you? We know that one works. [3]
Or that the HQ doors may not hold up against angry space wizards and shapeshifting dragons? [4]
Or that your poor targetting will have weakened our defenses enough that the UWM breaches the command center and lynches you anyway? [5]
1. Oh? And how do you intend to make that happen?
2a. Why wouldn't he?
2b. What, you're planning to lynch Simus in the middle of battle?
3. I find this highly doubtful. And that only temporarily killed her.
4. They would.
5. They wouldn't lynch her, they would execute her. And if that's the case...que sera sera. Not that I expect it, since the UWM forces are weak for now.
6. Seriously, notice the composition of this lynch mob. Auron, Xan, Lerman if he isn't permadead? Sure, one is powerful and one has a kludgebot, but against them are:
A. Jim, who never appreciates teamkilling.
B. Miyamoto, who also does not appreciate teamkilling.
C. Simus, who while not a Bastard in strength level is still pretty tough.
D. Steve, who could be called on to intervene (and probably would, at the request of his highest underlings when the governor of the planet is under attack).
E. Assorted sods and whatnot under Simus's command.
F. Damn near everyone else, who also doesn't appreciate teamkilling.

((It also doesn't help that you tend to interpret rolls in a somewhat mean-spirited fashion.))
How else am I supposed to interpret 1's and 0's?

((I always hated that rolling high in a lot of Roll to Dodges was bad, unless it was a game solely about PvE. 1-2 is bad. 3 is mediocre at best, but still pretty bad. 4-5 are good and great, with 6 being amazing! A 6 power and 0-2 power doing incredibly bad, okay thats fine. But getting a 6 for skinning a dead animal should be just that. You did incredibly well and got most or all of the meat and hide.))
6 is an overshot.

ICARUS turns the volume up to listen to what the representative has to say.
Nothing, yet. The UN is dealing with other stuff right now.
What, you thought the dragon could march in and demand an immediate audience with the UN? It's a political, bureaucratic organization, and the dragons respect their rules.

3913
I'm trying to reinforce it!

A) They didn't think it was a good idea, in fact it was Will who convinced them to give it a try

B) I clearly remember that Kyle installed a programm that simulates emotions, and not a personality. Personality and emotions are entirely different things. Also, these emotions Kyle programmed were only patched in, unto the CPU that Sanderwick programmed. HK is entirely Kyle made, while ICARUS is a bit of patchwork with little coordinative talks happening between Kyle and Sanderwick, who I might say, was very much against taking steps that could possibly lead to robot sentience. That it actually  might happen, he didn't really foresee.
A. Will was evidently misinformed on what they would actually be doing.
B. You can't have emotions without a personality; it's meaningless to talk of emotions alone. And, again, Will didn't expect them to put a hacked-together experimental AI onto a cutting-edge combot. Seriously, were they TRYING to create Skynet?

((2001? ))
No, the movie version of I, Robot. Yes, 2001.

3915
Speaking of dragon attacks, has enough satelite data been gathered?

Also, ICARUS checks the news to see how the UN-situation is going. Which topics are discussed, how much tension is there, etc.
It hasn't even been an hour. Unless ICARUS hacks the satellites to make them all go over Latin America, then makes an orbital trajectories check so the redirection doesn't make them crash, it's gonna be a while.
As for the UN thing, the UN is doing all sorts of stuff. The draconic representative is almost up to.
