Wait for Robama to defeat the Fiscal Cliff.
Congratulate him on his victory.
Kill Robama.
Run for president on the platform, "President of the Future."

I had actually forgotten about Goblin Tactics.

...Why aren't there more position-based bonuses? Flanking gives you +1 Attack, attacking with a solid obstacle on your opponent's other side has a 50% chance to undo 1 damage, etc. Both of those examples would be changed for goblins--they get +2 or +3 from flanking, and can ignore the penalty for attacking with your enemy's back to the wall--they were born and raised in tunnels!

I am disturbed at how quickly you responded and with how much detail.
I disturbed a Bay12er? ...I don't know whether to be impressed or horrified.
Well, I'm one of the saner Bay12ers, so don't get cocky. If you disturb Xantalos or somesuch, though...

What do you mean by that. I test those that worship me. If they fail they become scared and form the common worshiplers. Those that are brave are raised to the higher ranks and inspire the populace.
Oh. Someone was killing people who failed the Fear Test...

And here's my actions again.
Anyways. Draco will transform seven of my disciples, chosen by my prophet who I would like to know the name of into a new race, which I will call Eladrin. They are like tall, slender people with wings and pointed ears and golden skin, and can detect evil within their sight. To punish the criminals, they have an array of magical spells. I will also give the remaining disciples new weapons* and the skill to use them. The Eladrin will be ordered to seek the ones who caused this disease. And I will hope I don't burn through my reserves of power.

Hopefully the fact that I'm only making a few Eladrin will keep down the cost.
*Made from a metal a bit past what's common at the time. If they have nothing more than copper, give them iron or bronze. If they have bronze, give them steel (iron is actually a bit worse than bronze, just more common and alloyable into steel).
TL;DR: Make Eladrin. They're probably more or less Angels, but made from mortals. Take that as you will.
EDIT: Make them angels, officially, and drop the wings. Also, if it would be cheaper/easier for some reason, make the Eladrin from scratch, although it should be cheaper to make them from existing people. Right?

About how much would it take to make a Lesser God?

I'm sure Alice would find the ability to extinguish her wings dang useful, but it's not needed.

Something just occurred to me.
Alice doesn't look much like a night troll, certainly not much like us or Gwen.
Could we have her fly in separately, like a demon or an Angel of Death or something? Or a really crazy harpy?

Not what he's talking about. He's worried about losing track of which of his generated-in-succession worlds is the one with the great site.

I think the term canon has been misused.

Checking my dictionary, it says, "A member of the chapter of a cathedral or collegiate church"...oh, wait, that's the second...The first is about laws, but the third bit seems most relevant, "The list of an author's works which are accepted as genuine; the Shakesperian canon."
Looks like we gotta go to TV Tropes. [www.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SarcasmMode]Not that I ever go there or have memorized the URL or anything.[/url]

The page for TV Tropes on canon defines it as "[t]hat which counts, in terms of continuity." It goes on to be more specific for specific definitions in literature and television, but not video games.
I think that canon for DF can be classified into three categories, in order of decreasing importance: 1. Word of Toady. 2. What happens in-game. 3. How things are clearly stated to be in the raws*. In none of those locations has it been clearly stated what, exactly, the player is. Therefore, any speculation is non-canon. The only possible exception is if the note in Legends Mode that the adventurer was possessed by strange forces or whatnot counts as Type 2 canon for the theory that the player is Armok or somesuch.

Anyways...yeah.

*Allowing things like "The melting point of adamantine is 25,000 degrees Urist" to be canon.

DF Suggestions / Re: Diggles - yes from Dredmor

Where are there Jabberwockies in DF? There are jabberers in DF, but they're not much like Jabberwocky AFAIK.

Anyways...to broaden the scope of this discussion, are there any other indie games with creatures that would be Fun to include in DF? I see absolutely no reason to only add Diggles.

The problem is, the generated world name would probably be harder to remember than a number.

That said, it would probably be possible to make it an init option, and shouldn't be too hard (compared to some suggestions floating around...)

To me Semimegabeasts shouldn't be numberous enough to be able to form entire civs with just themselves.
Although I can see bands of semimegabeasts and other powerful critters...say, a dragon, a couple minotaurs, a giant, and some ogres...that would be neat.

Quote
Though I have no objection to them joining civs, forming their own with other creatures, or anything else. (as well I expect some day they will have reproduction).
I think they already do. The reproduction part, I mean.

But Great is right, there are so very few things Megabeasts do right now that will change in the future.
Just to make sure, you mean "there are so very few things Megabeasts do right now; that will change in the future," right, and not "there are so very few things Megabeasts do right now, that will change in the future," right?

But to GWG, the more resilient members of society will become superhuman !!
Immune to all disease!
No they won't.
1. The people surviving? They happen to be protected by people like me.
2. They might become immune to your disease, but no others.
3. The "immunity" will probably come with the equivalent of sickle-shaped red blood cells, if it comes at all.

And besides killing off 1/10 of the population of the world isn't that bad, right?
...
Yes, it is. It's like killing everyone in China and India about three times each.

But I like it when people are brave. I want to push the scared into being fearless.
mcclay...mcclay...which guy are you again?

Well, if that's an open invite, then I wouldn't mind helping out. Sending the humans to war against Javier's followers and his plague beasts will work wonders.
Of course it is. Thank you for your help.

Edit: we gain power from the fear of mortals, the anger that they give us
You won't be able to rise against the Fae or the Gods with that attitude!
He won't need to, either.

Also GWG, I made some people immune to the plague
Whoop-de-doo. The plague you made, no?

Also Wyrm, what counts as a major offense? Anything that disturbs that natural order of things, or just the slaughter of massive amounts of humans? Would, say, resurrecting an army of zombies that I had no hand in killing be considered a charge if I hadn't actually done anything with them?
I'm Pragmatic Good. Raising the dead corpses? As long as the souls are unmolested and the zombies aren't doing evil, I'm cool.

..But the Engineer doesn't have a chainsaw...

((Yes, I will keep up the TF2 references until this is no longer two respawning sides marked with RED and BLU. Once the respawns stop, I'll start up Red vs. Blue references. Who wants to be Sarge?))
I am fully supporting this. I didn't even notice the Blues were marked BLU, but there is a line. And beyond that line.... sandvich. DOCTOR!
Yes?
One moment, me Medigun has malfunctioned!
...Anyone know somewhere I can generate German-accented text?
