Did we not get the theory craft prize? Did that mean we failed?
Well, we succeeded. We might not have gotten rewarded, though.

Slog!!!!!!! Ciro looks really not good... how much Soul Charge did we use...
Possibly she's now in Slog.

((Jesus. With any hope, enemy FleetCom will think our artillery has been taken by UWM friednly forces.))
That is the only possible explanation for this result.
I mean seriously. Whoever programmed those things should be fired. If they're Steve-controlled, he should eject and dispose of the brains responsible. SERIOUSLY.

Lerman's dead.
((Perma- or temp?))

Team C, Grate. Northern area, possibly running west.

If no Because of answer, head west to flank and shoot the sods there.

And Yes satellites that can pin point magic are a thing.
Accounted for.

unless the eye-witness reports are very accurate, it might take weeks of tracking through the jungle to find anything. waiting for the satelites is a lot more convenient, and likely faster too
Dependent on the satellites being numerous and in convenient orbits (unlikely) and on the yellow dragons having very, very small ranges and/or ignoring things that aren't within a hundred feet (also unlikely).

yeah, but...how can it not actually kill a human, who is actually absolutely screwed if his body temperature is even just slightly risen (+6°C is guaranteed death), while most machines still work entirely reliable (+20°C is shrugged off like it's nothing) under increased heat but are fucked over?
Biological organisms have superior homeostatic capabilities.

But if Lily thinks someone isn't dead, aren't they not dead?
Their body would be moving, and there might be something like what Lily thought the person was like controlling it, but...not really.
And even Lily isn't dumb enough to not recognize a (typical) corpse.

I would just like to point out that yellow dragons are supposed to be able to fly, which means there would be landing sites near their lairs. An overfly of the area encompassed by the eyewitness reports should narrow down possible locations, and would therefore make it quicker
Do condors need landing sites?

((Well does the field work against powers from divine sources?))
It works against anything save greater gods, Wall Street, and the conventional laws of physics. I'm not sure if even quantum physics apply.

<I'll call this a "success" because calling it a failure implies that it's dangerous, an implication that could easily make it dangerous.>

Robert is stumbling around the castle randomly, carrying a large stack of paperwork, leaving a trail of paper behind him as he bumps and sways around, whirring to himself.
He occasionally notes Will taking notes.

However, the mass is a planet is so much more than the mass of things like rockets and small asteroids that it's simpler to count only the planet's gravity. KSP actually does this, because there's no point in trying to calculate something smaller than what the floating point numbers can handle.
Not so much. They just calculate the acceleration directly, rather than the force (which is multiplied by the small object's mass) and then divide by the small object's mass.

I'm starting to suspect I don't understand the lab...

I want to see what was able to distract a Searchbot from FULLONMURDERSPREE.
Much more interesting and possibly Angel-related than Cain.
...
How is this in any way an either/or thing?
Because every single time we've seen a searchbot it was concerned only with three things....
Searching, attacking, and guarding. It's directives.

Seeing a searchbot become distracted from this directive must have taken something impressive.
1. Rear guard.
2. Searching behind him.
3. How does this answer my question?

Quote
We can go there after Cain. If it's gone by then, it'll probably be gone by now.
This.  The odds that it's still there are extremely minimal- this ship has long sailed.
It's still there I recall. And it's been there long enough for a tree and grass to grow.
The place is. The being? Well, either it is and will be, barring catastrophe, or it's already gone.

and those decisions involve either visiting Cain, or seeing whatever is in the OuterUnderside/DL1-2
Actually, it's either Cain, or something somewhere else but we have no evidence for that being the case.

Sure.

Consider this: if it's going to be locked off, who's to say we're not gonna be locked in there ourselves?
Why would we be, and why would we want to allow ourselves to be? There is no scenario where both of these issues with your plan have a satisfactory answer.

Ciro's bleeding again. Related to the Megaman bleeding, or (blood-)red herring?
Dang, beaten to the punch. With the theory AND the confirmation. Lord damn it.

If she doesn't, that may be an indicator that misusing a soul star equals using it for something it wasn't made for. Since her's appears to be attuned to healing, and Ciro's isn't, Ciro would be hurt by using hers to revive something.
Entirely plausible.

Wait a minute! If Ciro took Slog's essence off (she replaced it with her soul star) and Slog is alive, that means Slog doesn't have his own essence inside himself anymore, right?
Or it means that Ciro is now in Slog's body, Ciro's body is empty, and I will be very angry at you Slogites.

Perhaps Cherish, or her soul star, or something we haven't yet figured out is somehow exempt from the cycles of the Warrens governing the place?
Quite possible.

Or perhaps the names are just bits of flavor text with no particular meaning FFS put on to troll us into trying to find meaning in them?
Also possible, especially since the Influx was made in the pre-thinking stage of TWoOtA.

Quote
Aaand that's enough theorycrafting for now.
Near-certain.

We also know that the Siblings (but probably not Oric) have been resurrected multiple times, most definitively once every cycle.
Citation?

Quote
Also why, of course. They all have to be alive for something. Including Ciro, which only further confirms that just having hir dead is not what Oric wants (unless they're being revived against his will, which given his attitude, as mentioned, seems unlikely).
Indeed.

Quote
I actually forgot where I was going with this.
...

Now for theorycrafting of my own!

Al and Cherish: Undo those second shifts. It wastes inventory spaces and takes away the flair when we use them when we actually need it.
We still need to find out what the Catalyst does in its normal form btw. Maybe after the joyful reunion we should have Cherish enter random commands-
I just had a nasty thought of what may have just happened

I am so happy, you don't even know.

SMASH THE GLASS ALREADY!
No, try opening it without wrecking the machine, first.

In my defense, I was absolutely certain I mentioned it somewhere.

3940
The experiments are all linked to one button (0). What issue is there?

3941
The lab wont be entirely useful until we get docking ports.
Can't it work on things in the same spacecraft, even without ports in between?

Quote
And ladders arent needed on minimus. I think you can reach orbit with a RCS pack there.
Can't you just jump?
Lower gravity, remeber?
And jumping is so inaccurate. Why go with the simple, clumsy solution when you can have a complex, elegant, engineering-ey solution?
You guys aren't the first geniuses to think to ask that. Read the thread.

Now for the update.

We design a new Minmushot, going to the old "complete redesign" angle. As always, we work backwards. First the Kerbin landing pod:

Complete with stuff!

Next, a pair of adorable little rocket stages for getting off Minmus.

What is this "overkill" you speak of? ..."Too heavy to fly," we have heard of.

Third is the landing stage:

Capable of performing no fewer than sixteen science experiments right then and there, the Minmushot III's landing stage is the most powerful laboratory ever built by the KSSP. And one of the largest in the world that hasn't exploded yet. And the best-heated!

Penultimately, the orbit-to-Minmus rocket stage:

Also note the weird phantom dot.

And finally, the Kerbin-to-orbit stage, with four discardable solid fuel boosters.

Is there any other kind?

We hire a couple volunteers to work in the lab, choosing them based on meeting important mission criteria.

"Why yes, I'd LOVE to live in space!"

The launch starts. The thing begins leaning southwards. Fast.

Note to self: Include a "decouple last decoupler" button in future designs.

We head back and add some stabilizing fins.

Twelve of them, because if there's one thing I overdo it's failed attempts at safety! ...Wait, that came out wrong.

So we launch again. We start leaning...east.

(Note to self: Put happy Bob picture here.)
"Excellent. We're starting the gravity turn early, I suppose?"

Soon, the tilt starts going crazy.

"Not optimal."

I start throttling back, remembering Scott's advice to keep speed below 200 m/s in the lower atmosphere. Sadly, pitch, yaw, and roll are all bonkers.

"Ground Control, there is a large orange-and-blue sphere hanging in the air behind my spacecraft! Also I am outside the craft while being inside it! Or something like that!"

I drop the (empty) solid fuel boosters, but the rocket continues to not maneuver well.

We're basically horizontal, almost out of fuel in our first stage, at 5000 meters, and running out of time to get to dinner and the evening class, so...launch aborted, sorry to cut you short here.

3942
The thing I should do?

And yeah, maybe. Magic is supposed to be a dangerous thing you use carefully, when it is needed, but...I might have overdone it.

3943
We can go there after Cain. If it's gone by then, it'll probably be gone by now.
This.  The odds that it's still there are extremely minimal- this ship has long sailed.
Unless it's stationary or has a home there, in which case it's not going anywhere.

3944
that where cross-referancing with the reports of yellow dragon sightings come in, do I really have to chew everything through with you?
...
Unless kj says otherwise, it would probably be quicker to search through the areas with eyewitness reports than to wait for the right satellites to fly over the right areas, then cross-reference all the data, then search the smaller areas.

"Hell if I know. This is the first time I've felt like this. Now stop asking me questions."
You wasted a perfectly good potential joke. Something like, "No, they also extend to annoying people."

((Well, the way it works here is, it would still raise her temperature, but MIND would simply be to not get some form of damage, because she can resist heat, but it's still there. I'm just using realistic effects.))
Makes sense. No matter what our willpower, having the air heated around you (or in you) is going to give you a bad time.

Lucy isn't sure what to do, so she watches to make sure the situation doesn't go out of hand.
Too late.

I'm amused by the idea that Lily's ignorance might diffuse the situation.

3945
Lily shows up to the place with Anabelle!
"Hi! What's going on?"
Everyone feeling strong emotions (like anger) at each other has them suddenly reduced.
