Anyways, Marie doesn't do it because Marie's thought process doesn't cause her to automatically make stuff up to fit what Robin's power is telling it. It's a consequence of her being a creature of nightmare, and thus more used to emotions and ideas than proper senses and stimulus. Besides, I did refuse to just go lolnope entirely. Hence the whole thing about telepathy.

And why does Robert's power work like that?*
And I don't really remember what exactly you're talking about with the telepathy thing. Besides, technically all he ever did was realize something was off. I never said he understood exactly what was going on from the moment he laid eyes on Robert.

*Another consideration: In absence of canonical explanation for how superpowers from the Super Academy universe work, I turn to the source I based Will on: Tattletale from Worm. Without getting into spoilers, Robert's powers would work better on Marie than they would on Will's power...and Will's power would, again, point out the dispecrancy.

@ GWG: The maxims they are referring to are from schlock mercenary, I think. But kudos on trying the research!

I knew all except the schlock, but still felt that those were...shall we say...unexpected search results. I did eventually find most of them (see below).

From what I understand, it's less mind control and more 'Hey brain, Robert's a human!' leaving the brain to its own devices to rationalize away the inconsistencies. So basically disguise through suggestion. Not saying your argument is totally invalid, but it still seems to have room for debate. Plus,

And Will's power doesn't come from his brain. It wouldn't be affected by Robert's power.

He would be aware of the effect. Mind control works on him, if it's strong enough that it overrides his ability to do otherwise, but if it doesn't he can fight it pretty accurately. When it's something as minor as this...it's pretty easy. And that's not getting into how he can sense magical energies.
Not to mention that his power in large part is picking up on the vital little details...and things like "has tentacles" and "is not actually saying anything" aren't exactly "little".

As to why it doesn't affect much, well...he's fully aware that he'll look crazy if he accuses Robert of being an octobot (?) so he's not saying anything.

of course, Will could be the sushi chef, who keeps shouting that he is clearly an alien probe here for your anuses, and everybody will just stare at Will like he is crazy and should leave the poor clerk alone

From what I understand, think perceptiveness combined with the ability to readily make logical connections that would not be obvious to other people without thought.

And Robert's ability involves making them oblivious to his identity, and preventing them from thinking about it.

Also, Akroma and GWG have a habit of fighting, don't mind them

Not to mention that if everyone can just pull out of being affected then Robert's ability is hardly an ability at all...

Two characters, out of dozens. That's not even in double-digit percentiles.
And one of them has no intention of talking about it any time soon, so...

Also, @Poltifar, pretty much the only other character who can who shows up with any regularity is Loki. The Norse god. Yes, he's a character.

He's one of Elf's more-frequently-played characters, having last showed up less than a thousand pages ago!

There would be some issues, since he doesn't share their low-grade hivemind. With a bit of wit or silence, though, that shouldn't be too hard to deal with.

And he should probably go for silver glitter if he tries that.

Question:

Would Grandiose (entity that doesn't belong in existence) and Shade (ghost) be immune to Roberts ability? I already know that Sen, Yomiko, and Samson aren't.

Same with all Void-based characters (Ashley, Nodoka, Void, etc), and arguably all AU characters (Izzy, Stella, Will, Emp's Alice, Meme, maybe Mimi) and characters drawn into existence by Selina (Conny, Momo)
And it doesn't really make sense. Do other magical abilities not work on people who don't belong in existence?
