Incorporate fire hydrant into chainsaw launcher.
Spray water at cyborg-girl.
"No! We're defeating her! Bad! Bad!"
Tell dog we didn't mean him.

Half-decent? We invented atlatls and writing as children. Imagine if kids like that existed on Earth. Ideally human kids, but I wouldn't care, I'd be too busy driving a flying car or booking a flight to Mars to care how many legs the guy who invented it had.

Not that this isn't amusing, but I think we're ready to start.

A brief note on what I'm typing:
This is exposition. It isn't always literally true, but if I'm not embellishing my prose it's safe to believe. Well, as safe as you can believe your characters' senses.
This is my GM's thoughts. Obviously, I would never lie here. I'm as trustworthy as the Computer itself!
"Howdy! This is 'n en-character voice, pardner! Yew c'n tell by da quotashun marks! Toodloo!"
THIS IS MY VOICE FOR FRIEND COMPUTER. UNLESS I'M FEELING LAZY THAT TURN, THEN I USE THIS.

-----

All five of the new Troubleshooters receive a message from Friend Computer! It was printed at the bottom of their Breakfast Claim Slips, and says, "IMPORTANT MISSION ANNOUNC" in large, bold letters. The rest is too small to easily read. What will they do?

I see myself nowhere. FEED MY EGO. NAO.
You summoned those freaks.
You can edit TV Tropes, too.

I'm kinda surprised I only popped up in a couple of tropes, and none of those where bad.
I don't think anyone else has edited the page, and I couldn't think of a lot about you.

...Interesting.

Roll wax in golden dust.
Mix dust and wax.
Wax should now be golden-colored.

Sounds acceptable. Maybe use some sort of magic on the elven hand. Fire manipulation? If we set the elf on fire, that kills three elves with one flame.

40538
Yeah, sorry. Got distracted.

I'll probably update tomorrow.

I think it would be more they think there are more and scarier night trolls that what there really is.
And from whence did these monsters come?

That wouldn't be bad, as long as we can actually do stuff without being chopped to pieces by a blind, deaf and dumb quadriplegic mouse with Alzheimers.
Kobolds aren't that bad...
Replace "blind" with "angry," "deaf" with" insane," "quadriplegic" with "paraplegic," "mouse" with "dwarf," and "Alzheimer's" with "its bare hands," then I agree.

DF Suggestions / Re: A proposal: remove fortress time
« on: December 17, 2012, 11:34:58 pm »
Suggested before, as mentioned. Big problems, notably getting through a decent amount of time before your haiar turns gray.

Adventure mode runs what, 72 times faster than Fortress Mode? This means that it would take about 72 times as long to get through as much time. This means that, if you can play DF for four hours straight a day, 7 days a week, 52+1/7 weeks a year, it would take more than two weeks to get through a single year at 100 FPS. As FPS drops significantly over a fort's lifetime and on weaker computers, it could easily take years to get through a decent-length fortress. Of nothing else would prove it, check the Community Games and Stories subforum and measure how long those games took to get "somewhere." In real time, mind you, not dwarf time. Now multiply that by 72...

Mostly good, but why would the staff make you immune to fire?

DF Suggestions / Re: Allow unhappy dwarves to leave your fortress
« on: December 17, 2012, 11:29:21 pm »
I remember a topic very similar to this one not long ago, ill try to find it. in the meantime, please use the search function.
If you cannot find it even though you know it existed, how do you know I didn't already use the search function?  I don't mind people pointing me at existing threads and tsking me for missing a prior thread, but just randomly dropping into someone's thread and saying "use the search function" isn't exactly productive.

Nor would it be on topic for us to discuss this further in the thread if you do not also provide a link to the prior discussion.

If you meant this thread: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=113112.msg3811298#msg3811298

I did not participate in that thread because the original post was aiming at some sort of dwarven personality rewrite, not dwarves moving elsewhere.  Emmigration was noted in the thread, but was not the whole purpose of the thread.
This HAS been discussed before. I know, I participated.
Anyways, let's use this thread since it's here.

My other typical comment: Planned.

Anyways, the biggest problems would be figuring put when to leave (I'm unhappy! I'll just wander out through these evil wilds...), and how to leave (I'll march out through the caverns!). Leaving with caravans makes sense under almost all circumstances, but safe lands or places near the Mountainhomes should also have dwarves trekking put alone.

DF Suggestions / Re: Supply, and not Demand. Base for an economy.
« on: December 17, 2012, 11:25:08 pm »
Really, the way supply and demand affect prices isn't the numbers, it's the proportion.

If you have 100 steel helmets, they'll be worth more if you need 500 and less if you need 25. Similarly, needing 100 helmets doesn't affect a supply of 500 helmets the way it does a supply of 25. The change to price should be proportional to demand. Presumably, this would be based on item types which can replace each other, with the exact type (cap v helm), material, and quality also affecting it. Obviously, a lot of high-quality or good-material X's would devalue the worth of such a material or quality, while sending the prices of lower-quality/worse-material goods through the basement.

The hardest parts will be figuring our how much a group needs, figuring out how the supply of given quantities affects price, and working out the numbers.
