In fact, why don't we make a list of things to do? I could create a Google Document for it.
Sounds like a plan.

Keep in mind that we still need to attempt bloodshaping a skill before we leave.
Remind me Tell me why?
Mostly to see if we can.

"He is. She just shares your name."

Kayla shrugs.
"Oh."

Stella tries to determine what Cycle meant, she was after all a foreign dragon.
Well, she remembers talk of the dragons awakening and going to sleep. That's probably the Cycle.

General Discussion / Re: Russian intervention in Ukraine
« on: March 02, 2014, 03:59:44 pm »
And while we're at that, the USSR  did not suppress Ukraine specifically, despite what a few revisionists might say. It suppressed any and all nationalism within its borders, because nationalism makes empires fall apart.
Which makes the Ukranians feel better, how?

Xaxaxaxaxa
I'd comment, but I suspect I'm missing the punchline.

There can be no Soviet nationalism because the Soviet Union was not a nation. Fanaticism, maybe, but not nationalism. The Union was united by communist ideology first, and Russian culture (whatever that was after our Civil War) second.
1. How are you defining "nation," then?
2. Does it matter? You're basically saying that if the USSR was a nation, they would be nationalist.

Why are the far-right radicals refusing to disarm, then, even after a direct order from the new government?
I think we need to review the definitions of "far" and "radical"...

First confirmed defection - commander of Ukrainian Navy switched sides, no info on how officers under his command reacted on that...
"Rear Admiral Denys Berezovsky was only made head of the navy on Saturday, as the government in Kiev reacted to the threat of Russian invasion."
They may have reacted...poorly.

Quote
When the commander of your entire Navy defects, it's a... rather telling event, I think.
No one followed his orders. We got new commander. That one will face tribunal or live in Russia. No problem.
In theory, yes. In practice...well, let's see hwo the navy reacts and how the whole invasioney thing ends up.

If you haven't noticed we are getting ready for defending against a full scale invasion. And having guerrillas is essential because we have no good army to stop Russian war machine in conventional warfare
It's not ideal circumstances by any means. Not much cover in the countryside[citation needed], not much time to train, and the enemy troops are experienced with your best defenses. General Winter applies as much to the Russians as the Ukranians...

a positive kind of (...) nationalism
That's a thing now?
Owlbread talks a lot about founding a kind of civic nationalism that focuses on the self-improvement of a nation rather than the plain assertion of its superiority.
That would be nice.

Edit: and today your chief commander of fleet swore to serve to Crimean people and ordered all your navy to do the same or sign out, by the way. Freshest.
And what power does he have to enforce this?

And people stopped talking to me, not the guy who fantasize about killing russians. next thing you guys do is justify it by calling him a brave freedom fighter.
Russia did just kind of invade his country with the probable intent of permanently taking a chunk out of it, and probably undoing the successes of the recent protests/revolution in the rest. I'm not saying fantasizing about killing people in warfare is right, but I understand where he's coming from.
The justification begins.
The refusing to actually have a conversation and condemning the rest of you begins.
We made it almost a hundred pages. That's better than most corners of the Internet would have gotten.

I know don't have much voice here as it is not my country that is facing the crisis, but I think the amount of hostility in this thread is really rising to dangerous limits.
Hostility? In a thread about politics, in a situation where one of the concerned nations is invading the other?
Shocker!

But yeah. If this gets shut down, where will I snark about people's reactions to the invasion while being secretly concerned and wondering if this will become the next big disaster?

If you want to get to Minmus, go for a Mun encounter. More often then not, a Mun encounter can give you a big boost outwards that will greatly save on fuel.
Huh? How would I perform this, exactly?

Roll To Dodge / Re: Thawed (Another Turn, Another Disaster)

Seek out that gal we're waiting for.
Which one? Selina, the first one to run, or one of the other girls who ran off and got lost?

Continue healing. Then report this to the CO.
"Everything exploded!"
"...I noticed."

1. ICARUS is not conscious of the outside world. Dreamers are not conscious of the outside world.
2. ICARUS hallucinates some stuff not related to the outside reality. That's essentially what a dream is.
3. ICARUS is unresponsive to outside stimuli, like deep sleepers are.
4. Aside from duration and mechanism, that's basically all there is to sleep.

Say all you like that ICARUS's body is just a full-body prosthesis for it. You know why? My body is an all-organic prosthesis. It's really the same thing.

4103
What is its function, then?

And I'd say the symptoms are as similar as it can get for a robot. What more do you want? ICARUS can't breathe, doesn't have eyes to close, and would angrily reject down pillows.

4104
Try to put Goombess into the Exchange.
-1 unless she gives permission.

4105
I have pretty decent control over my dreams. Unless it only feels like I'm controlling my dreams, but technically it only feels like I'm controlling my body. I also remember dreams about as well as any other specific event: If it's interesting, I remember the details, otherwise I remember general stuff.

And it doesn't have to be exactly the same for Will to point out that IRIS more or less made a sleeping robot.

4106
I don't think Lunette was meant to happen though. Plus Neferis's player and the plot's GM are different people.
the arthurian quest had a lot more stuff going on than lunette though, and neferis is literaly a "crap, I didnt think they'd do that" moment, that was solved in a very funny and interesting way.
Again, it's a continuum.

Which makes me wonder wether or not all plots should include something for Kyle to chat up and try to get pregnant. we need a dragonness that likey to experiment asap
If Kyle wants some dragon tail, he'll have to work for it. Step one: Learn how to distinguish between draconic genders.

((ICARUS specificaly removed her bracelet before discussing that, dont shoehorn Will into knowing this somehow. Also, they were not dreams, nor does she sleep. Remember that she is AI, the body is juts a vessel. When her mind is uploaded to the IRIS server for backups and combat simulation, she is awake the entire time, and it's as real, if not more real, than what happens when she is in the ICARUS-05 unit. The difference is that the perception of time changes as that computer is billions times faster))
1. I couldn't remember the openness of that thing. Um, maybe the person she was discussing it with revealed the secret to someone and it spread?
2. A digitally-generated rose smells just as sweet with properly-programmed odor modules.
3. "t's as real, if not more real, than what happens when she is in the ICARUS-05 unit." Pretty much how dreams work. Down to the time changing, albeit not to that extent. Which seems a bit beyond modern computing capabilities, but eh.

Before landing I suggest you try the easier mission of flying by Mun/Minmus, you can get 300+ science from each.
Bring 2 science jrs+2 goo cans, perform the experimients in hight orbit and space near Mun/Minmus, also dont forget the crew and eva reports.
One annoying thing is symmetrical linking of mystery goo. But I can do that if folks think it's a good idea.

4108
Holy shit guys.

Nobody else noticed the "Last Seraph" part of Last Seraph's Lifeline?

Last Seraph. We've seen that around a lot. LSS stands for Last Seraphim's Sanctuary. And Seraph can be synonymous with angel.

What if AL is the Lord? Or maybe one of the angels? This is starting to get pretty interesting.
I doubt that, but it's definitely a thing. A thing we need to understand.

I also approve of Goombess dropping/storing her useless crap to hold the Bartering Ram. Not sure if she can really USE it, cause, no arms, but I don't think that's been a big concern as of yet.
Indeed.

4109
That was a plot? I thought it was a character introduction.
Bit of a gray area. The same could be said about the Arthurian quest and Lunette. Or the Isis quest and Neferis.

<That HILDA was not built by IRIS has been confirmed. No robot that IRIS ever built has to sleep...>
<Weren't you complaining the other day about bad dreams?>

Quote
<Perhaps HILDA was once a human, and her mind was uploaded to a computer?>[/font][/glow]
<Possible....>
Will attempts to chat with HILDA to determine if this is plausible.
