I get a lot of mileage out of this trope. It describes the being you're describing.
Are we desperate for food or souls? No. Is there any good reason to kill them? No. Are there good reasons not to? Yes.

Wait, what happened to plan 'wear him down'?
We started winning without it.
But cockyness is not what we need; pressing the attack will backfire. Our stamina is the only advantage we've got.
That, and the fact that while our average damage per turn is 200% greater than his, his remaining health is about 80% of ours.

oh lord... fighting seems hellish.

I assume how finely crafted something is gives bonuses to hit/damage. Such as a good pickaxe. Or in the case of a deficit, a bad axe.

Also, I confer a +1 to all of Maya's people with the power of cheerleading!!!!
LET'S GO MAYA, LET'S GO!

That works, right...?
Yeah, fighting is bad. Just be glad I decided to see how this combat went before implementing damage to different body parts...and the impairment implied...

Minus, mind you. This is a stupid idea no matter whose hands we're eating.

No.
Something that simulates a few people living in a confined space? Different personalities clash and fun stuff like that, some player input?

Trip him!
Then FINISH HIM
I was thinking of giving him a chance to surrender, destroying his remaining eye if he refused, and giving him one last chance first.

"Not sure if I can grant or deny permission, but I'd suggest keeping the calmer-headed of you down there a bit, to see if there's any signs of life. Under my lack of authority as ship's doctor, make like an deciduous and leaf if there's a sign of anything hostile seen by more than one of you. By the way, that corpse didn't move. And those do not appear to be human bite marks...would you consider taking a sample?"

So to comfort yourself over getting into more trouble than we could solve, we're going to murder children, who A. are nowhere near as tough as those we've been losing too and won't give any satisfaction, and B. have parents who will object to their children dying?

It got suddenly warmer. Perhaps we're safer?
You fool, you've doomed us all!

Obtain Chair, enter Asylum. If we see anything, BASH IT TO DEATH. THEN LIGHT THE CHAIR ON FIRE WITH THE STUN GUN.

BASHY BASHY FIRE CHAIRS.
+1, although consider lighting the chair on fire A. with something like a lighter that has a chance of success, and B. before we attack with it.

Just buy her for the1600. And ask him to hold onto the sniper

Because we will come back
+1. Throw in another 50 for the promise that she will still be in good health once we get back.

Why are we even killing them?
