Yeah. Lets just try to buy her using my 'Poor wandering leper needs a slave' angle. If they seem receptive to such a bargin try to get them to throw her armor, or at least a set of respectable clothes, into the bargin 'so she is not such an ugly mess of a sight to look upon.' She will then be clothed and we can give her one of our knives. Between those and the trapping supplies in the wagon she shouldn't be hurting for gear and we shouldn't have to go out of her way to fetch her things.

We don't need the copper to help get the books, she can do it. If the sale goes through take down the job offer and tell anybody who inquires that the position has already been filled.
Don't ask about armor, it'll tip them off.

Granted. Any time you come near a loosely-defined evil-doer, you feel the urge and ability to strike them hard. Numerous counts of assault and a couple of murder (in the case of unusually frail people) emerge.

What happens when we all take knives to a gun fight?
We focus more heavily on stealth and guerrilla tactics, rather than straight up overpowering our enemies, I would assume.
Great, we just need to find a country simultaneously suited for extended guerrilla warfare which is also politically unstable and unskilled in repulsing guerrilla strikes.

I have 6 or so knives and one adze. That should be enough to handle these... things. You hyped it up a bit much last time. You stated, and I quote,

Which indicates a large amount of danger. I can't risk hunting when I have "people" approaching, so I keep people close but still useful. I needed more weapons.
It also indicates that there won't be time to plant a garden or make an adze before they come. Which is what I was talking about. For all you know, those people could be dead before they can plow a single bit of ground.

Um...someone found some herbs while looking for I think wood. One of those women (it was two women searching) got attacked by the crocodile, and one of the four units gathered fixed that right up. Was that you or did you have those three units of less-magical herbs from earlier?
