Promise you won't get angry at me?/

-----

Amate gazed over the new land he claimed as his own. It was small, perhaps a mere thousand feet from shore to shore. It had some good qualities, however. Its surface had a few groves of trees, and its slopes were mountainous, with plenty of available obsidian and basalt. However, it had one great characteristic: Within its summit, hundreds of feet above the waterline, was a warm rumbling. Amate had heard of these isles of fire, and now lived on one.
The nearest islands were to the south and the east, both about 150 miles away.

Robert gazed to the west at the small, rocky island he had passed while trying to find a place to live. Their options were limited, but their choice good; they were on an island about 5 miles across and covered in rich rainforest. They heard the call of a strange bird, larger than any they had heard ever before. The nearest islands are the western one, 150 miles away or so, and ones to the south-southeast and the southwest, about 200 miles away each.

Matta had less hope than the others. Another tribe had wiped his out to these last dozen and a few children. His isle has low and had a lagoon excellent for gathering shellfish, but given its small size (about three miles long and one wide), hunting would be limited. Still, if others could be avoided, maybe Matta's future was bright. The nearest islands were to the north and south, each about 150 miles off, with other islands to the northeast, east, and southeast only 200 miles off.

Maya fled to a small island to escape his past and steal his future from...something. His island was only half a mile across, but it had forests of mangroves from the coast to the swampy interior. Only a few hills in the center were dry. On one hand, dangerous reptiles lurk in the swamp; on the other, exotic and tasty reptiles lurk in the swamp. The nearest island is about 75 miles to the southwest, and much larger, but less secluded. Other nearby isles are 150 miles to the east and west.

Raith made his home on a sandy isle about six miles across. A larger and clayier hill has a spring and grass, but little else is present. Thankfully, there are plenty of burrows, indicating a large amount of small game, and the shores teem with shellfish. The nearest islands are 100 and 125 miles to the northeast and the mostly-east.

Nerjin found an excellent place to raise his children. It was an island, over ten miles across and covered with jungle and sheer cliffs. A river valley makes a good first shelter, which will be vital given the deep bellows Nerjin heard...There are several islands within 100 miles, which I will write briefer descriptions of later if asked.

Kamehameha prayed that the gods would forgive him. He had failed. However, perhaps he still held the gods' blessings. He had landed on an island he hadn't been able to guess the size of--dozens of miles across, that was certain. It was, however, almost entirely sand and water, with some hills sporting grasses popping out here and there. The pools supported abundant shellfish and octopi, but pickings will be slim for agriculture and other botanical foods. The nearest islands are 150 miles away or so, to the north, south, and north-northwest.

That should be everyone. I gave everyone an island, rolled for traits, and fiddled with the results to make it more balanced. For instance, TopHat was supposed to get a small island which would be a glorified sandbank. I improvised a bit.
I suggest trade. Once you get settled, try lighting smokey fires and sailing to other islands. Maybe you'll find another player willing to give you what you want or unable to stop you from taking it...

Sure.

Can you attach skills to gear?

Unless I sucessfully everse to 4. In which case, all of existance will be frozen into desolation, so I can lazily kill GWG and do as I please. Unless I overshoot. God that would not be good.

Never played or seen Eversion have you? I can understand one. Levels 2-3 are not that impressive. However, considering the reality altering affects, and the absolute nightmare from beyond creation that is every level after 4, Godpleasenoovershoot.

Total and absolute risk averseness again....
Yeah, yeah, I want to avoid dying. So sue me, figurative money ain't good for a corpse.

No, if he was successful at a difficult task he has a good chance of succeeding at an easier and pretty much identical one, especially now that he knows what works.
He is a squashy human with no combat skills, if we choose mate with combat skills then...
If we can find a woman with combat skills. Hm, not like this is a pseudo-medieval society, making women with combat skills sufficient to overcome a mage one in a million, on top of the low odds of them being locateable...

Besides, using new ally for a direct attack is a last resort. We may use it to assist us in breaking the bracelet, helping to get some equipment, sending her as a messenger and so on.
And what makes you think we have to attack the elf for him to notice her?

Quote

B. we can escape to full safety before the elf notices that we are gone, despite blood loss.
Escape? I'd rather wait for him and make him pay for an attempt to enslave us. As for bloodloss... I don't believe that night trolls are that fragile that can't survive after some bandaging
Oh, yes, attack him with one arm while woozy from blood-loss when he defeated us when we had surprise, two arms, and were at our best. Maybe he threw away his magic dagger?

Want to bet?
Yes, Yes, Yes! I want to bet.  As I said before, even long term armlessness is not a huge problem for a mage. In the worst case we'll get a small penalty for casting spells
Yup, arms aren't important, not like we'll be heavily restricted by only having one arm.
Hint, I'm being sarcastic.

And how do you know what any healer can do?
Setting is highly magical, so it's logical to assume that such kind of magic exist and pretty common
We've been around a few wizards and the daughter of a wizard since we arrived; we haven't seen the larger society. Someone who spent time in the king's court might assume that the whole society was rich, but that isn't necessarily so.
But let's say we found a healer of sufficient power. We're still a Night Troll. Do you think s/he would heal us out of the goodness of their heart?

Have 10 keep building lean-tos.
Have 3 hunt.
Have two look for stone.
Have one make axe-head.
Have one make spear(s).
Have the wounded man and the two longer-pregnant women rest and teach the child all they can. Also have them keep "house."

Hmmm.... Actually, GreatWyrmGold, Wrassling Honor would likely mean you'll fail in getting there...
I can hope to end the madness...
Actually, if wrassling honor works like I think it might, nukes woudl just obliterate the entire surrounding planet, leaving us and ur air pocket intact. Fascinating.
...
I could work with that. Not ideal, but I can deal.
Pun!

As a separate, tri-ninja'd idea...

Maybe the ghost of the warlord is a recurring mini-boss who also shows up in various sidequests instead of being the bonus boss, a d instead of the previously mentioned end...

Once Tim is defeated, the dwarves offer you entrance to the Upper Realms, where you attain fame through a series of related quests. The central settlement, a dwarven fortress combining the best and the maddest of the community, is a sort of a hub for this activity; every quest you finish ends with you bringing a trophy to the dwarven king. These trophies include magical items and an Adamantine Pick. The magical items let the dwarves explore deeper, safer.
If you need to collect trophies based off of Dwarf Fortress, they should be things like a certain number of elf ears, the bones of an air-drowned mermaid, the last tears of a dwarven child for battle through a life of cruelty, an artifact rope reed amulet encrusted with shells and covered in the blood of its creator, and something with a picture of a dwarf surrounded by cats and/or eating cheese.
Or Planepacked, or Ásax's spear.
There should be at least 15-20 "magical" items which advance the "expand underground" counter, and several others. In my opinion, of course.

Are we talking about Armok the god of blood, or Armok the forum member?
Maybe both, with the forum member being the decoy Armok.
If they are separate, then how would we differentiate them? Well... I guess godhood would be a good indicator. Maybe they're one and the same, but Armok has to ascend first or something?
Maybe Forum!Armok is a scary but easily-defeatable-by-the-time-you-reach-him NPC? Maybe Armok's Ale would be a sidequest...

I always assumed that this game will be somewhat of a meta comedy about the board and RPGs in general.
Why not? I was designing the plot with that in mind, but with enough room to make it more serious.

What kind of things would typing something in and checking to make sure that it's perfectly spelled so as to not elicit confusion, be more convenient than opening a menu and pressing a key?

42507
How can we make a game if we lack a plot?

Also,
all I have to contribute for the foreseeable future is ideas of what others should do, so don't disparage them.
If I need to make a Rube Goldbergian plot with which you and, hopefully one day, I as well can build the game around, don't drive me off.

Anyways...Can you have items give access to skills?

What madness? The universe's population just DIED.

There is little madness left.

Tim is all that remains.
Then I destroy Tim, an evil emperor, a former omnicidalist, and the original thing we were going to destroy.
Plus, I need to make sure the Sol Slayers work...

42509
We also should stop being kind of retarded.

The big bad is Armok. It is clearly visible from 1/5th of the way through the game. End of Story.
Why be so simplistic? Besides, all I have to contribute for the foreseeable future is ideas of what others should do, so don't disparage them.

Besides, we're Bay12. Overcomplicating everything would be our motto if Losing is Fun didn't come first.

He caught us, and we're trained in magic and know how to be a night troll.
Oh, if he was successful once (and veeery lucky) He will be autosuccessful again, I see. Logical

Last resort
Better sooner then late. Who knows what will he force us to do? For example he may ask what we plan to do to run away and then ban all our ideas.
Better to not bet the use of one arm on the fact that A. we can regrow it and B. we can escape to full safety before the elf notices that we are gone, despite blood loss.

Quote
BTW, aren't troll regenerative? Cut the arm, remove the bracelet, tie the arm back and hope that it will reatach
Anyway, losing the arm is not a mega problem, I think any semi-copmpetent healer can regrow it back. And elven city should have a healer or two
Some trolls, maybe not us. Want to bet?
And how do you know what any healer can do? In D&D, which is what you seem to be basing your trollology on, you need to be pretty high-level to regrow limbs.
