Portal location: In the basement of a midwife's house in rural impoverished Africa. One of our Crossroad Demons is currently possessing the Midwife.

Sounds good, but change the name to something like Vileraptor (vile thief).

After rereading Guns, Germs, and Steel, I decided to let everyone have knowledge of building large huts. I didn't put it in the OP yet, because A. it seems like something that would come later than the bare-bones beginnings, and B. I forgot while typing that infodump.
I could, however, let you spend a point on a design for an even bigger hut. Not that you're likely to need it, but still.
