"Root" is singular. Therefore, a single root is implied to be what you are requesting. When there is ambiguity present, the positive root is assumed.
Anyways, what is the square root of -1?

I'll start at the mouth of that river on the eastern half of the continent that spreads across both sides of the map.

I can't help but think that that big vertical spot with continuously no ocean for the whole longitude would have been a better dividing point.
