Create a device which advertises to every PC and a bunch of other people whatever I want to. Like a car radio ad, but shorter and less avoidable.

« on: November 16, 2012, 10:15:37 pm »That should be one possible kind of golem, but not the only one.I'd personally prefer to see golems tied into the (as far as I've seen around here) most commonly suggested form of dwarven magic, rune magic. Basically if you're lucky enough to end up with a rune mage (or whatever they'd be called) in your fortress they could inscribe a statue with runes of power bringing it to life, with appropriate balancing of costs, labor restrictions etc.Which ties in with the original idea of golems being controlled by words written on them. They would have the word "emet" written on them meaning truth, but if you rubbed out one letter it became met, meaning death. That would kill a golem.
Out of curiosity, what happens if you rub out the wrong letter?

Homosexuals weren't terribly common in the middle ages. Blame modern civil rights movements, blame omnipresent religion, blame what you like, "out-of-the-closet" homosexuals are more common nowadays than in the time DF strives to emulate.
Dwarven love seems to be a practical affair. They sleep in the same bed, have children, and feel sad when the other dies. Homosexuals don't seem to be something that would happen, it's just a different type of friendship which the church probably frowns on.
