knutor: Traders don't get hit by traps, and when humans siege you traps their traders have seen don't hit them, either. I'd say that's pretty conclusive evidence that the dwarves warn the traders where not to step. Wagons aren't maneuverable enough to do that, and large, serrated steel disks are so hard on the axles...which is assuming that the traps are entirely concealed in the ground and/or walls. If there's a bumpy bit, traps could stop wagons the way boulders do.

I have started a fortress with The Silent Wraith. Well, the Something Wraith. Anyways, it's on the border of a sandy deert and a grasslandy area. The Equal Evils are starting Gristlemenaces with a few bags of sand, a few chunks of fire clay, a pick, an axe, an anvil, some iron for a glass furnace, a couple copper bars, three trolls, and of course the wagon.I must prepare lodgings, ere the leopards get hungry.
I'll get a pic of the location up as soon as tinypic/internet works on the laptop.

EDIT: I take it back, DF can't read the region it just saved to for some reason...
