I'd consider starting a war in some area with fewer neighbors. Somehow I doubt that we'll be able to come out on top if the winner of the Congo War is also being sacked by the rest of Africa...

So, Haiti and the Dominican Republic? They're about as chummy as the US and Mexico would be if poor Mexicans ran over to Yellowstone or something to cut trees for firewood.

You have DNA from everyone, but need more stem cells (or at least organic material, but stem cells are by far the best) before you can clone more. You prep the lab, though. Now it's lunchtime.

I wish I had the 100% voluntary ability to divine the true answer to any question I thought of within seconds simply by thinking about it, with no negative side effects, and subtley enough that I am not taken by any organization to be forced to use my power against my will, and finally that I had the self-control needed to properly used the ability.

I am for sensible racial talents. Elves are agile, they're good archers. Trolls are strong, they're good miners. Antmen have minimal personality and will, they rarely go on break and do work faster. I don't want random things, like goblins are bad at weaving, gremlins are good at mechanics, frogmen are good fishers...
Different races should also have drawbacks, also sensible. And then there's the social ramifications, both internal (dwarven haulers see trolls taking their work and grow resentful) and external (the Mountainhomes don't like you as much because you have goblin citizens), especially since dwarves are typically xenophobic.

Evolution takes millions of years to get much of anywhere, except with bacteria and such. A bit off-topic, but when people screw up evolutionary theory...it bugs me.

Anyways, I had thought of a possible solution to one problem with the suggestion over lunch. Inventions are, uh, invented, but the tech races start with varies on the length of worldgen. If you're genning a 5-year world, they'll be near the tech they're" supposed" to have at the end, but if you're making a 1050-year fortress, the dwarves will start around the tech humanity had around 200-400 AD. Stuff like that.


Oh, and before I forget: Planned.

Well, Komodo dragons aren't the only critters that have deadly bacteria in their saliva. They're just the only ones to use it.
