Alright, sounds fun. Once GitP works, I'll whip up a kobold truenamer. I've always had a soft spot for D&D kobolds. Maybe it's how they achieve strength through brains, maybe it's the abuse adventurers give them, maybe it's their persistence, maybe it's their connection to dragons. It's certainly not due to DFbolds, which I discovered far later and which I find irritating.

So, any major problems with a kobold truenamer and what level should I start at?

Can't say I have. I'll look at true naming, but could you also give me a Cliff's Notes version of what they can and are expected to do?

Bold me please.

Done.

I've never had problems with saving DF on a flashdrive.  And why are you saving it on a flashdrive?
Convenience.

When the save and ENTIRE GAME FOLDER get corrupted twice, it's telling me something. Possibly that I should stop putting DF on a flash drive. I'll test my hypothesis soon and gen a 2,999-year-old world.

What if the players controlled individual dwarves who could band together and found new fortresses?

Hey, a mind flayer can't be any worse than a half-dragon drow!
Hm, that looks neat, but I'd rather play something I actually have tablet or hard copies of...what does the party still need?

Only way I'd see DF getting popular enough to get a whole bigger community is if Toady somehow manage to make MMODF.
The concept of an MMODF sounds intriguing. Would it be an Adventure Mode MMORPG or some sort of work-together/against fortress-building thing?
Or both? At once?

EAT ORC FOR LUNCH
[1] You bite the orc, then realize that it's a bit late for lunch and you're still a Magikarp. The orc [3] summons a goblin chef.

fine... pariah uses mask to fleshwarp away his injuries...then uses surf.
[1] You warp yourself into a sort of fleshy mess.

Set my MONOCULOUS to 'ON', and try once more to get my sword out. If THAT fails, just pelt TFB with Grenades.

Oh, right, you're on fire. Anyways, [1] I need to look up Monoculous. Here we go. It shoots several eyelike missiles at you, dealing [16*5] 80 damage.

Dual wield crossbows.

Spray and pray.

You grab another crossbow. [6-1] Holy carp, you hit! You deal [(15*5)+(14*5)] 145 damage!

BOSS TURN
The zombie jetexes note that jetex has respawned and [6,5,1] while one accidentally loses an arm, the others deal a total of [(18*5)+(18*5)] 180 damage to jetex. Who promptly respawns.
The goblin chef [4v2] catches and bakes Objective [2] poorly, then offers the resulting fillet to TFB. TFB refuses, and suggests it be given to the orc. The orc eats it.
The goblins [1] start squabbling amongst themselves. One is killed, and the killer decides to merge them all into a single, non-worthless mob!
TFB gestures! [5] jetex's corpse, zombie jetex's arm, and the dead goblin shudder and begin to move! [4] For S&G, he teaches necromancy to the orc.

That is stupid. For starters, I can see someone wrestling with their legs, if not in the same way one would wrestle with their arms. Second, a game cannot figure out if something" makes sense." Third, a lot of what we would think makes no sense actually does. Fourth, DF runs on unrealism. Can you imagine a realistic magma forge, or dragon, or zombie? Fifth, if you just arbitrarily stripped out everything that doesn't" make sense," the game would have to figure out what to do, in a way that makes more sense. Sixth, that was the least of the arguments against Skyrim (or whatever) -esque graphics.
Yes, yes I can. I'm going to go build one and take pictures of it.
I'd like to see it.

Hm. That also begs the question of how the machine running the simulation is constantly "getting bigger"; unless our overlords often hit the Save button so they can shut it down then upgrade it.
It wouldn't surprise me.

We are, of course, assuming a computer with finite computing power, a potential fallacy in and of itself.
Which would be assuming a computer with infinite computing power would be possible - which I think is unlikely.
Even if there's an absolutely mind-bogglingly massive number of different Universes, very few of them would have the correct system of physics to make infinite computing power possible. But the one Universe that did fit the requirements would be the one 'hosting' our world, of course...
We're assuming we can understand the physics of the other world. Besides, anthropic principal.

Nothing. Being a vampire is A-OK, although killing dwarves is still a crime.

What would Urist do if  ?

I assume most of these wont happen, because Toady said the games technology wouldn't go beyond medeival.
Ehh, True and untrue.

While the technology of the dwarves will be medieval, the physics of te universe will be more advanced, so players will be able to simulate more modern tech. Hell, we have calculaters. There were no calculaters in medieval times.
That's because no one was crazy enough to build one!
