DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Well from an aquifer
« on: October 20, 2012, 04:36:30 pm »
There are a few bugs (Shown on wiki, somewhere.) with water. A well makes any water source, whether it be saltwater, stagnant water, etc., a drinkable type of water for your dwarves. Nothing will happen to your dwarves, except quenching their thirsts.  ;D
Last I checked, it just made dwarves ignore the saltiness.

Buy a pickaxe. Dig your way to the armory closest dark fortress.

GreatWyrmHematite has submitted a carving!

"The Room of Seas," a slate slab.
This is a slate slab. All craftdwarfship is of average quality. It is shaded in dimple dye.
On the object is an image of a pressure plate, a door, and a hatch in slate. The pressure plate is linked to the door and hatch. This image relates to the drowning of accused criminals in the near future.
On the object is a a an image of a tank in dimple dye. The tank is full of water. On the object are words in slate. The words are crudely drawn.
Spoiler: Pic (click to show/hide)

-----

Written Proposal:
We should construct a bedroom, engraved with fine images and adorned with lovely furniture. There will be two statues and a pressure plate in between, such that a dwarf can only reach the bed by stepping on the pressure plate. The pressure plate will be linked to a hatch in the ceiling and to the door, such that stepping on the plate causes the room to be sealed off and flooded. The bedroom will be assigned to any dwarf in need of execution.

*Create hammering list*
*Put MrWillSauce everywhere on it*
*Make it a note in my room*

So, pretty much a note in my room saying: Hammering list: MRWILLSAUCE X9001
>Locate list
>Destroy list
>Ask if Donuts has a legitimate claim against Willsauce
>If yes, allow hammering. Once. Probably.
He is a criminal. Faking is a crime! He didn't even get punishment. Please, at least just lock him out in the snow for a week or something! Or just a tiny little training hammer beating?
Can you limit it to a single punch in public?

I request:

Emergency obsidianizer in Donuts' quarter/office/whatever he stay in
OVERRIDDEN. Obsidianizers waste perfectly good furniture. Let me draw up something...

« on: October 20, 2012, 03:59:24 pm »
I'd imagine that a cliff covered in glue would be easier. Unless you got stuck, of course.
I don't. Most glues aren't very sticky until they harden, and anyway it's putting a liquid coating on your grip. The best conditions for climbing are dry, and covered in chalk.
I'd imagine a cliff covered in something viscous and sticky would be easier to climb,

Inb4 squeamish pussies overrun this thread saying its bad for their anime rp immershun

Wait, how can you be squeamish and ever play this game? You can gouge people's eyes out with your thumbs, tear out their tongue with a dull knife, and slowly remove entire sections of their bodies.

How can you be squeamish and ever live? You can do all that and worse IRL.

Also, I figure whomever's building an automation or full out AI for any games is doing it for challenge or to prove they can do it. Or just too bored for their own good :D

You got it!  We also intend to apply this ai to other RTS games, to see how it does.

How much could still apply? Could it even understand Starcraft or something?

Nope, that reminds me.

Hey! Knights' orders and mercenary group! If you want more than whatever little armor and weapons you can make yourselves, make some agreements with the king or other nobles!
As a side note this makes absolutely no sense. First off USEC's knight order would get all their starting gear from the church, so that is covered, he shouldn't have to make a deal over anything to get his weapons.
Alright, I can probably see this...it may be moot, as I haven't seen USEC around in a while.
Quote
Second off why let anyone start as a knight order or a merc group from the start if they won't have the gear for their men? How the heck do you start a knight order and not have horses and swords, how do you start a merc group and not have weapons those who join a merc group generally bring their own weapon. In no way should we have to make deals with anyone to get the weapons we should have from the start.
Why not? Weapons don't appear from nowhere. If you can't figure out some way to get mesor to cough up steel weapons and armor, you'll stick with copper or maybe bronze. Figure something out. It's not like I'm saying you can't start with any gear. Besides, none of the groups affected had posted in a while.

Quote
Anywho I'm going to drop out because this has got more complicated then it needed to be, and I don't feel like dealing with it or mesor constantly pointing out 'problems' in other peoples stuff.
Alright, goodbye.

Ouch.

Spoiler: tribe status (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: orders (click to show/hide)
What would I need to make a knife?
That evening, Robert called his tribe to him. Over all, everything had been nice. Except for the unlucky death of one of the men( Really standing under that giant loose log while pulling it loose was kinda stupid) everyone had survived, and nobody died. He warned his people against being Haughty, for that would anger the spirits then set about dividing tomorrows tasks.

Spoiler: Orders (click to show/hide)
BRILLIANT MASTERPLAN WAS BRILLIANT AND SUCCESSFUL

>One man: apply adze to trees

>Two men: mass manufacture adzes

>Two men: research pickaxes

>Three women: tend wounded

>Children: Collect fruit
Maybe you could just have simple stock-piles for resources? Just take everything that's used for crafting, and place it in one group, food in another, etc, etc.

It'd be far easier to just have the crafting stock-piles stack. E.G: Wood/stone in one, shells/reeds/grasses in another, bones/hides/feathers in a different one...

For now,

# of people = Green.
Men = Teal.
Women = Pink.
Children = Yellow.

Four women will gather grasses/edible roots
The other three women will find some nice, silty ground and try planting various, edible plants that the previous five women find. They'll furrow/till it with their hands as well.
The remaining three women will help watch the children, and tend to their injuries.
Four men will CAREFULLY hunt for more meat
If there's resources, two men will craft: A bow, and a beautiful feather hat from the Pigeon feathers for Kamehameha. (Not Kamehameka.)
Once again, three men will gather wood.
Two men will try and mine/find flint, and small, sturdy chunks of stone to fashion into spear-heads.
two men will scout in a new direction. As far as they can go in a day.
The second-to-last man will butcher any animals that are hunted.
The final man will start a fire, so as to smoke the meat they find.

The children can just play...Maybe they'll want to try practicing their ambushing and sneaking skills on their friends?

Now we just need anailater's action.

Channel their strength to forge the armor of the damned.
[5] Check.

RESPAWN AS THE NUMBER 5
[6] You respawn as the number 5, an abstract concept which can't really do anything.

Awesome. Take it.

BECOME LESS WEAK.
BECOME CHARISMATIC LEADER.
INSPIRE REVOLUTIONARY FERVER IN POPULACES OF BOTH THE HUMANS AND DEMONS
LIGHT DOOMBURGER ON FIRE AS SIGN OF THE END OF CAPITALISM
STUMP-SPEECH SPINAL_TAPER AND DR.KONG INTO SUBMISSION.

[3] You put a band-aid on. [4] You find some disaffected demons to get to revolt against nothing in particular. You only get two unrelated actions per turn.

POSSESS CERES. CRASH INTO MARS. NOBODY FUCKING EVICTS ME FROM MY BODY.
[1] You possess a picture of Ceres in a children's book on mythology. Ceres the harvest goddess.

>BUST INTO PET STORE

>STEAL FOOD FROM OTHER PETS

>GROW, DAMNIT!
[2] You cannot enter the pet store. [5-1] Some other pets take pity on you and give you food. Mostly dogs, the cats want to eat you. [3] You grow slightly.

GM TURN:
Dr. Kong has an idea for expanding Doomburger. [1] He tries to make a starship but instead makes a starclip. Oops.
The demon start offering wishes for a drop of blood apiece. [5] They breach the defenses of the last human settlement.
