Low fantasy, change nothing else.
I'm fine with low fantasy, but for maximum fun,

Procedural content -> very high.
Savagery -> very high.
This, but Grim Fairytale

On second look, A. Ouldlend is a lot smaller than I remember and B. Yeah, there's a spot which could be considered the middle right next to the coast.

*Create hammering list*
*Put MrWillSauce everywhere on it*
*Make it a note in my room*

So, pretty much a note in my room saying: Hammering list: MRWILLSAUCE X9001
>Locate list
>Destroy list
>Ask if Donuts has a legitimate claim against Willsauce
>If yes, allow hammering. Once. Probably.

DF Community Games & Stories / Re: The Goblin Age
« on: October 20, 2012, 02:03:02 pm »
Yep.  The goblin are totally extinct.
Either goblins are not playable by adventurers, or those goblins are citizens of human or elven civs.

Let's see...Lightning, Monkey, Pitchblende, Elf, Corai, and me makes six, throw in a nut case and that's seven. I'll start soon.

Can't claim it wasn't what I asked for...
Could you rename him, such that the Metal is replaced with some metal he likes?

What are the estimated costs of labor? For things like clearing farmland, I mean.

No knapping?
What do you have in mind? Bear in mind that your flints are hand-sized tops...

You sent a dozen kids and five women from a culture where women are mainly housekeepers, and send them into a dangerous jungle to hunt and kill its inhabitants with their bare hands. What did you think would happen?

Oh, and addressing this:

I don't know if you're aware, but this is closest to dorfs I could make them without actually giving everyone a beard. Why yes, it was obvious that someone would die. Do I care? Nope. Too busy loitering around researching smoked meat.
Good to have mentioned earlier so I could assign a point cost to it...

Oh, and if a lot of people die for stupid reasons expect rebellion.

People really should read through the development goals more, not as much to not have threads like this pop up but for their own sake so they can see all the COMPLETELY AWESOME stuff that's planned and set to make this great game even greater in a hopefully not too distant future ^^

Feels like 99% of all the things people hope for and suggest are already planned and then some ;)

And the stuff not planned has a VERY good reason to not be planned...

Why is this even a discussion anymore? Not to be blunt, but Toady says he wants to stay away from that, for the sake of the game.
I guess new people like me, like to discuss old shit!
(Pun intended)
The worst part about this whole idea is that there is that one person in every game that suggests this. Why is there such a fascination for all this crap?
Why is there a facination for gutting up malformed human beings(dwarfs)? And using their guts as ammunition
There isn't, except to a few people. It's memorable, but not mainstream by any means.

"Disgusting"?

So if you want all that cutting shit apart and baby murder, Obok Meatgod the goblin child rapist and fuck knows what other things(Personally i have carried out Sexual Reassignment Surgeries in Genesis) people does, why dont you want the rest of the oh-so-yucky content? I dont fucking get you people.
We don't. Don't attribute the beliefs of the few to the whole. How would you feel if the attitudes of the Tea Party (or its foreign equivalent) were attributed to all of America (or whatever country you live in)?

He might as well remove gore and turn breeding into egg management. Why not add a score and give the various gems magical powers, why not just sell this to EA or Activision?
What is wrong with you. I state that more people would be turned off than attracted by the unneeded and disgusting nuisance of fecal matter and such, and you assume I want DF to be an E-rated game. And this is after making various opposite assumptions about the community.

Fox News would run wild on this already, im quite sure this site would be blocked in all the bible belt states if they knew what the fuck you could do in this. Australia would block the site too.
Oh, brother. Look, DF isn't the worst, most depraved game ever. It is a game sufficiently detailed that depraved minds can do depraved things with it. We don't like Obok Meatgod. You assume everyone does that crap.
STOP BEING INSULTING.

Then i fucking hope that he does atleast add in a surgery system and mods that allows animals to piss and poo. Animal "byproducts" are important in agriculture. Guana is an awesome fertiliser and i know because my mom is an orchid freak.

Being able to do surgery would be really awesom for survival reasons, also for carefully dissecting the corpse of a forgotten beast to extract a potent poison to spike that vampire noble's mead so his skin will boil in the morning.
If you'd read the post linked a while back, you'd note that Toady has said he would add animal feces as fertilizer eventually.

There's was the other idea that would make the game run the different forts in turns. Ie, you run the outpost for 9 months, then send them back, then run the main fort fort.
Given the changes that players can have on the world, increasingly as time goes on, this would be tough.

Oh, and
That evening, Robert called his tribe to him. Over all, everything had been nice. Except for the unlucky death of one of the men( Really standing under that giant loose log while pulling it loose was kinda stupid) everyone had survived, and nobody died. He warned his people against being Haughty, for that would anger the spirits then set about dividing tomorrows tasks.

Spoiler: Orders (click to show/hide)
You really don't have enough material to make picks it adzes. Nets aren't a lot of use unless you can get out to sea, which requires a canoe.

Canoes are not a one-man, one-day job. The smallest canoes let one person fish at a -1 penalty, and require 6 wood, a chisel to work with, and 4 man/days. I suppose you could use grass/reeds to tie sharpened flints onto sticks and make a crude chisel...
I just want to place a finemazed net amongst some rocks and then have some peope check for shrimps and such that swum in. Calling it a net is probably not a good word. Some sort of primitive fish trap. (You can make those with twigs of trees, so it should be possible)
Fish trap? Sure, let me write up rules for that...
You can make a crude chisel by knacking some large rocks against each other. Pretty sure we can find some of those.
How much material does a pick/ adze require?
Each requires one unit of stone, plus a chisel to shape it. You could make a good chisel with stone and a chisel, or you could attach a sharpened flint to a stick for a simple one. As to finding boulders...you ARE near some rocky hills...

Hm, we have a warrior and a Harrowed...I know, how about a mind flayer? I have a hard copy of Savage Species, so it would be simple to use the monster classes within. All I need is GM approval and a level.
Maybe add a template, but mind flayer is probably enough.

IDEA: slime moulds as food!
Also for supercomputers.
Slime mold computers will need work before they can be used for more than planning roads or something.
