Roll To Dodge / Re: HERO CIVIL WAR/YOU AT FINAL BOSS: OOC THREAD
« on: October 12, 2012, 07:37:08 pm »
Oh, I just want to continue to kill, forever. As Xantalos has promised a dimension of endless slaughter, I therefore side with him.
I'll double his offer if you promise not to help destroy the universe!
If Xantalos succeeds in his goal, there will be less to kill than if you killed everyone!
Heyheyhey! MY client. Besides, the dimension is outside this one, which is the only one I intend to destroy. Anyway, what would a wolfdemon do at Aperture? Nothing, that's what. More importantly, no killing infinite foes. Therefore, B̧̗̟̙̪͍̰̺̀̑ͧ͛ͬ̑ͥͫͫ̌̃͐̋͋͟͝ͅA͉̯̤̜̳͕͖͙͍̮̬̼̬̠͈̟̱̤̓̊̽̃̀͢Ĉ̢͉͙͔͓̹̜͔͉͍̦̟͚̳̤̳̪͍ͮ̐ͮͩ̅̓͂ͭ̅̂̅ͤͩ͌ͫ͟͞K̡̘̳̤͙͚̜̖̼̫̹͖͍̼̘̲̄̃̃̍̿̾ͪ͢͢ ̸̨̰͇̤̱̬̤͚͔̲͓̣̦̖̖̯̙͚̻̉ͣͪͬ̈́̃̌ͬͥͪ́̕͝O̵͎̝͍̻̬̗̤͍͙̫̙̜̫̦͚̩͌ͨ̆̈́ͦ̀̈͌̋͛ͤ̇̌ͣ̔ͨ̓̂́͢͜͞ͅͅF̸̧̥͉͖͇͓̝̱̓ͣ̒͊ͮ̎F̢͗̒ͧ̊ͭͦ̓ͣ̈́ͬ̽̄̾̆͜͡҉̮̫͔̜̲̰̖̺͚̮͞,̸̟̘͓̼̠̦̖̫̙̲̞̞̤͓͙̞͎ͫͭ̃̈ͮͭͤ̉ͤ̊̂͒̋̅ͨ͡ͅ ̧̠͎͔̤͖̜̙̮̝̞̯̳̻̙͍̤̖͔ͤ͗ͯ̽̑͛̑̍̾̃̾ͥ̆͛̾͝ͅGͦͯ́̄̽̈́̿͆ͭͯ̑͆̓̐҉̴̡̖̩̟̙͈͚ͅW̊ͣ͛͌̓̈́̓͆̌̊͗̃̚̚͏͚̼̳̫̭̕͢Ģ̷̷̼̤̱̼̤̞̝̦̼̻̞͇͈̙͕̲̘͔̜̓̔̌̓̎͜͠.̜̲̘̫̬ͦͫ̅͊̈̉͂̕ ͊̊̏ͣͫ̀ͤ͂̍̊̆͛ͯͬͬ͆͜͏̢̫̙̠̠̫̯̳̫̤̠͖̣̣̬̲͙̫͚̬
Hey, if Aperture can make a portal gun whilst trying to make a shower curtain under Cave Johnson, and violate other laws of physics, under me and with my magic I can make two infinite dimensions of killing.
Or give him a magical item that let's him plane shift between Hell and the Abyss. And other places, perhaps.

2. How can you be certain?
Supply\demand. There are many freighters for freighters jobs, but there are few cruisers for cruiser jobs
Also supply. I'd bet there's more freighter jobs for freighters than cruiser jobs for cruisers. There's only one copy of, say, a picture of a forgotten beast I drew, but that doesn't make it more valuable than a  can of soup.

5. Those sound good...I wonder how much space we could add, how easily, and how much it would impact performance?

I think that expanding ship isn't the best way to go, we have living quarters and cargobays to convert. Maybe even our docking area, it takes a lot of place and I am not that sure that we really need small crafts
[/quote]
How much of that can we spare and still have room for raw materials, products, ammo, waste, supplies, us, etc?
How much would everything take up, and how much space can we share? Those are the big questions.

Thecard's point about legality might make sense, if we hadn't managed to con our way past system security stuff earlier.

Thanks a lot, here's my plan.

Spoiler: Turn 3 (click to show/hide)

The only question I can think of right now is to ask if any villagers would be willing to sell their farms and work for me for some price or another. Say, I buy a family's farm at 3 silver/acre, build them a house, feed them, and have them work for me.

Planned, suggested, and some of those sound way overpowered. Create artifacts at will?

Do coke corpses eternally burn? I thought that was lignite and graphite.
Items made of flammable materials without a HEATDAM point burn for exactly 9 months and 16.8 days (322560 frames) before disappearing (fire inflicts 10 damage points per frame, with 806400 damage points per wear level, which works out to 2 months and 11.2 days per wear level, and it takes 4 wear levels for an item to disappear). Nothing eternally burns aside from artifacts, and that's only because artifacts are immune to wear.
What about the stuff-it-in-a-bin exploit? Does that work anyway?

I guess that.....solves it... I think..
Dammit, somehow didn't ask: Will the eternally-burning-stuff-in-a-bin trick still work?
Depends, is it artifact stuff?

For the first: smaller site cap, longer history, and more more more megabeasts and evil areas.

For the second: you can't. Fortress mode requires a living dwarven civ to embark.
For the second: Last version I checked, a dwarven civ dead almost 10,000 years had no problems on embark.

And the miners, and the smiths, and the dwarves that didn't get possessed and make steel goblets...

1. Not as many lethal ones as mercenary work, especially by being a tough target for pirates.

2. How can you be certain?

4. If we sold Salvation, we wouldn't be buying a military ship, we'd be buying a trader or something.

5. Those sound good...I wonder how much space we could add, how easily, and how much it would impact performance? It would make sense to smelt our own metal for many of those, and...well, they all sound like good ideas to use our limited space for. Nice and versatile.

BOOST
[1] You cleverly halt your momentum relative to the Sun and settle into Jupiter's L5 point.

"Harken.... Yoink, Catperson. We need some demon flesh."
Yoink and I massacre demons, take the money and demon flesh. Pay off debt.
[5] You sure do. [5] Yoink helps.

FINE. SEND THE MARTIAN MAGME CORE INTO HYPERDRIVE
this should accomplish a numebr of things, including:
  • Speeding up current terraforming. Hell, a decent magnetosphere could help make life downright pleasant
  • Strengthen the power of fire on the planet, allowing Me to become stronger.
  • Get some noteriety for me. FEAR ME.[/b]

BTW, what are the status of life forms on mars? Are there any Human colonies other then the one we repeatedly fucked up?
[4] You restart Mars's frozen core. Well done.
Oh, and native Martian life is pretty much dead. It's just flat cats, rats, bugs, demons, and one Willosaur. There were a few colonies, but most of them retroactively didn't exist once demons were made to have conquered Earth, so...maybe one.

Create avatar in the form of a giant Moai statue with arms and legs. Use this tool of my divine might to crush the CAPITALIST FILTH that has infested my beautiful, pristine world.
[5] You create a giant moai with legs; they normally have arms. [2v6] Its attempts to defeat Dr. Kong are blown into little, rocky bits, which promptly smash his restaurant.

GM Turn:
The demons cut their prices: Three for a soul or ten for two, or a wish for your second greatest gift. [3] They also start sieging Doomburger.
Dr. Kong [4] uses his godly Dr. Manhattan powers to kill the demons nearest his restaurant and turn them into materials to make a new Doomburger in the last human settlement.

I don't see why we care so much about Stan. Let a G be a G yo.
A 'G'?  What does that even mean?  'Gangster'?  'Gangnam'?  Whatever, it doesn't matter.
We "care so much about Stan" because the dude hangs out with a legitimate criminal (who we should also be getting to know) and carries fucking lasers in his pockets for fun!  And, he hinted at having a "past."  He could end up being really useful.
Agreed. Stan is both a probable criminal, or at least some kind of good contact for a villain, and makes lasers for fun. He is a great asset.

1. Assuming we don't lose too much money or time from injuries and repairs.
2. Decent point, but we need to compare it to potential trading profits, whether with the Salvation or with some other ship we trade her in for.
3. Hey, we discarded the booze idea when we discovered it would be illegal. Aside from a quip from me about being space Al Capone.
4. Hey, there's more options than "Escort, Bounty Hunt, and Otherwise Fight" and "Sell ship, abandon game." We could ship goods to dangerous or pirate-ridden areas, or sell our current ship for one better suited for safe work.

George will jokingly suggest spacing anyone who insists on a duality of dangerous missions or retiring again.

Shouldn't it be called a turquoise tide though? Since that's the colour of peasants.

Best I could do was teal.

Teal tide sounds nice.

« on: October 12, 2012, 05:32:39 pm »
I use danger rooms. They are quite unbalanced no matter what you do. Even if you can ensure 75% lethality you still get, 2.5 elite dwarves for every ten you put in. And with ten spears per trap it only takes a couple minutes to get two nearly invulnerable dwarves and a legendary crutch-walker. But I see them not as a cheat, but rather an imaginative use of the in-game physics. It's your choice whether you want to use them, nerf them, or pretend like they don't exist.
I'd li,e half of a legendary elite dwarf...
That was random, sorry.

Is it one stack of donkey bones? That counts as one bone.

Skulls are listed as "X skull," letting you tell what they are instantly.
