DF Community Games & Stories / Re: The Forgotten Beast Art Contest!
« on: October 12, 2012, 04:06:33 pm »
Alright, how about I post a new FB?

Ruyava Urnnightmare was a forgotten beast. It was the only one of its kind. A towering scaly salamander. It has a pair of knobby antennae and it undulates rhythmatically. Its dark chestnut scales are jagged and overlapping. Beware its deadly blood! Ruyava was associated with water, murder, and caverns.

About arena tests: Add a necromancer to the arena, out of reach but representing the evil biome. It reanimates the corpses faster but arena dwarves don't succumb to hunger, thirst, or drowsiness.

This makes sense. I tried to start a community fortress where I settled on a road to collect tolls; I'd like to actually be able to do that in the future.

I wouldn't make it a big toll--just a metal bar or something--but I would enforce it with a road-flooding trap and some axedwarves.

I think if this is the way it's implemented it would be the entire wave comes or the entire wave treks back home. The ability to pick and choose just seems overpowered.
I think the idea is to reduce the number of migrants. Or increase--I'd like to be able to increase my migration rate if I wanted to, even if I wouldn't. Naturally, there would be maximums to the number who could immigrate based on death rates and such, so you couldn't have whole fortresses migrate, kill most of them, sell their clothes, and keep the best smiths and soldiers.

The balance is against a traditional medical system.

But does it need to be balanced in respect to that? Creatures in this have super fast regeneration, perfect but slow regeneration, or have no need for medicine. Those completely unbalance it on its own.
Mind clarifying this bit?

Heck does Healing have to contradict this? Perhaps you still have to set bones or else it heals wrong.

As well if magic is rare then you would want a field doctor to keep your wounded team mates alive... and the magic healer back at the base protected.

It could take a long time to cast the spell

It could just super speed up the regeneration rate of an individual. That would give VERY useful healing ability that cannot be replaced... without making ordinary healing useless... if it is that important.
Those are all good ways to not have magic replace current healing methods.

Like what, get caught by the police? That's the least lethal thing likely to happen if we rush into villainy.

Any hibernating, cute, fast-breeding animals we could buy fairly cheap?
Months of time to breed them.
Depends on the animal. Especially if we're not limited to Terran species. A creature living in a habitat with, say, a month of monsoon and blooming plants followed by years of drought and hard times might hibernate during the hard times and reproduce quickly during that time. Sky's the limit.

rabbits, mice or cavis. no cats. NEVER CATS!
Why not cats?
While the others breed fast for a mammal and are easy to keep, they still take at least a month or two to mature and don't hibernate... do we have some sort of cryostorage we could put the critters into while we transport them?

Granted. You now troll Homestuck forums.

I wish my brother had his wish corrupted...this shouldn't be hard...

...Hm, for booze smuggling weapons would be a plus and we could be Space All Capone, but we'd be breaking the law which is bad. So let's consider other options. Any hibernating, cute, fast-breeding animals we could buy fairly cheap? Feed a few, let them breed, get them into hibernation, sell for profit to lonely asteroid miners.

Once the Final Boss is dead, I suspect misko and the other omnicidalists to be like the Special Bonus Boss.

First we must kill the Lichette! Then we must kill anyone who has ever fought the Lichette! Then we must kill those who killed those who killed the Lichette! And finally, we'll have to go ahead and kill everyone in all existence ever, just for good measure and giggles.
Seeing as we are the only ones who fought the lich, that would basically be the battle followed by ritual suicide.

Seriously, I need an answer. Spinal, tell them that we need an answer. Ideally one involving sending minions into town.

Think it might have something to do with one strand actually stretching into the lowest cavern level... i was kinda surprised to find candy in the caverns, and FBs in hell.
Might be that hell is now officially part of the caverns because the strand connects the two...
I highly doubt it. Caverns don't count as the surface when a cave connects them, do they?
