DF does its best to be realistic while still being enjoyable and moderately simple. And, of course, extant in this time and not in 2040.

I missed the optional part.
Time I spend IRL watching a caravan cross the wilderness is time not spent watching my outpost bloom into a fortress.
But, I don't see the point of what you're saying. It's not like you would just watch the caravan move from A to B, you would be given messages like "Your caravan is crossing through the Forests of Aching. This forest reeks of death and vile torture. You see a blah blah blah". The journey could happen off-screen. Eventually, there would be a situation when you have to cross a river or fight a bear Jeremiah Johnson style or other such wild traveller things, or maybe an ambush or whatever. One of your party could become sick and you have to hunt for medicine for them, who knows. If you don't want it, you'd have a choice because it's an optional feature, just... don't choose to follow the journey. It's not like you have to. The fact that it's optional means that there's no point in complaining about it using up your time.
[6] Apocalypse How? Oh, about a P5. Respawn?I cn now single handedly fuck over a entire continent, with untold possiblities for global damage.Spoiler (click to show/hide)
DO IT
ALSO CREATE THE FIRST EVER HYPER-CANE, A EXTREMELY LOW PRESSURE HURRICANE THAT CAN PERSIST FOR MONTHS AND IS SUPER HUGE. ITS REAL LOOK IT UP.
RESPAWN AS DRUNKEN TIME-TRAVELLING SASQUATCH/YETI/BIGFOOT[4] You do. Your time travelling is a bit limited, though--only forward.
Course Correction + More acceleration![1] Well, one out of two isn't bad, right? You've got a day.
Try to posses Mars again. If successful, initiate terraforming. If not, dance.[5] You are Mars. [4] Terraforming has begun and should finish within, oh, a century tops.
JUMP INTO HYPERCANEYou are wine, on the wrong planet, and the hypercane mostly scattered what was left of Earth.
SPIN FASTER
Restore the Enterprise. Spock can do it, so can we. Kill the evil Enterprise.[1] You help the demons build their own Enterprise. [3] You are made a technical officer, sorta like Scotty except with them actually saying, "Beam me up, Spinal!"

So. About the spaceship thing. I recently read an essay by Larry Niven, detailing various megastructures. One of the things he described involved taking an asteroid, focusing sunlight on it using a specially shaped mirror, melting it, spinning the resulting glob, and turning it into a hollow sphere to serve as a hull for a spacecraft. Sounds interesting. Although that'd probably be better for trips to the outer system, or potential interstellar trips. Unless you guys feel like waiting until Apophis makes another close pass.Um, we need spaceships to get us to the asteroids...
Will we put our leadership's brains inside Large Mechs? Or will they remain organic?I'd suggest uploading a few backups and possibly a copy or two of the leaders onto cephalopod processing units once I invent them, then we can hook 'em up to anything.
Presumably, the 4k are housekeepers? You remember when I mentioned that? Actually, that's still rather low...Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Looks okay. You could probably produce, oh, at least 1,000 or 1,500 units of food, depending on your relations with nearby nobles and how many of the peasants are full-time farmers.Circle Census:
1,300 men
1,700 women
500 mages
450 scholars
20 lords/mayors/burghers
10 militia
300 farmers
500 builders
40 children
The rest are peasants.
That's 4,400 farmers, so...crap, I should have put player next to fief to begin with. Ah, there you are. Um...there's only one area of good farmland, so only the first 2,500 farmers will get full food production and the others, whether helping those 2,500 or farming less productive land will only make about half as much food, so that's 14,000 units of food for your 17,000 people. Not much to import.I'd probably pay for someone like ansanton, in return for protection of course
anyway
17,000 people
8,000 men
4,000 Farmers
1,400 Miners
400 Woodcutters
1,000 Soilders
100 Blacksmiths
400 Builders
100 Armourers
100 Tanners
100 Bowyers
100 Masoners
300 Stone cutters
6,000 women
All women do houswork
3,000 children (so about 1,000 work)
400 farmers
300 miners
150 wood cutters
50 Blacksmith in training
50 Armourer in training
50 Bowyer in training
50 Masoner in training
50 Soilers in training
(I can always boost up the army temporairily with levy right? Say ages 16-30)
Also I'm going on Holiday for a week so I might not be able to post all that often
Again, any housekeepers?Census of von Scliesen Lands:
25 000 total population Divided Among:
7 Counties, and a total of 20 baronies, held by either the family or locals who are more or less stuck supporting the family
300 trained knights
1000 men at arms (crossbowmen and pikemen mostly)
15000 farmers
2000 fishermen in the rivers
5000 assorted craftsmen
500 priests
1000 merchants
200 tax collectors, scribes and other civil servants
1 500 population:Since you've got a little rocky city in the mountains, I'll let the priests help out in households around the area charitably and have the rest covered by various off-duty officials and soldiers looking for a quick buck...copper? Anyways, since you're in the mountains your 300 food-getters can only get about 2-3 units apiece, which is 750 units total...you'll need to import half of your food.
------[Food]------
->100 plant gatherers
->100 fishermen (in the little mountain rivers and ponds)
->100 hunters
------[War]-------
1000 Trained soldiers:
-> 400 Archers
-> 500 (Nagitana's? Naginatano?) (wo)men with naginata's
-> 100 Longswordsmen
------[Religon]----
-> 30 priests
------[Crafts]-----
-> 120 Metalsmiths
------[State]------
-> 30 scribes
-> 10 Tax colletors
-> 10 people of justice (judges,.....)
Also, GWG, you forgot to update the first post.So I did. Fixing.
