The dome floods. The xenomorphs are OK. [2,2,5,4] The cybermorphs manage to get shots off at people, specifically killerhellhound, [1,5-1] and he dodges into one and away from the other. It hurts--between the being on fire and the being shot, he can't take much more.
[6,4] Both cybermorphs are waterproof, the second after modifying itself heavily.

Criticizing DF for it's terrible terrible interface is totally legit in my opinion.  It is extremely difficult to find out information you need, and there are many things which can only be done by a non-obvious sequence of actions.

If it weren't for 3rd party programs like Dwarf Therapist, DF would be completely unplayable for me.  Your whole population's happiness, skills, stats and labor assignments all available in one screen!

As for the micromanagement issues of large populations, I simply play with a maximum population cap of 100.  I simply can't handle more dwarves than that, and I frequently play with fewer.

I can handle DF with no outside tools. Of course, I also tend to start killing migrants by the second year...

Really the motto of "Losing is fun" isn't that watching your fortress die is "fun" exactly but rather due to a simple thing.

You can't win DF. There is no moment when the game suddenly goes "YAY YOU WIN!" and lets you play more. Sure, you can set your own goals and say when you've "won", but officially, the game has no victory condition. Thus, you aren't playing to "win", you are playing to have fun... which also, in a sense, means you are playing to lose, as losing is the only way to well... not be playing, I guess.

Something like that.

Really, I don't consider an interesting death to be a loss. You know what the real losing in DF is? Boredom. If you can't find anything interesting to do with a fort, do something !!interesting!! to it...

Push means they shove it and wander away. Riding minecatts can be a public transportation system, or it can be used to get haulers closer to the end. Or to make the minecarts accelerate faster.

I use groundhogs. It's got a nice background in classic sci-fi.

Grab the stabber! In absence of a kinesis module, throw the stabber at the necromorph!
