You could make a minimalist RTD. In any case, at least enough info to know if we should make knights, office workers, shadowrunners, hunter-gatherers, or what is needed.

Continued in a new post for technical reasons. Specifically, my tablet was acting up.
You may change your mind on reading the rest...

-----

The third faction, the Homesick, is composed of goblins, humans, and dwarves in roughly the same proportions as in the whole group. They just want to leave the forest and get back to their lives.
A fourth group, the Crusaders, is an odd mix of goblins and dwarves, lead by a former dwarven hunter and goblin troll-shearer. Their leadership also includes a human mage, the only non-Eye troll, and a dwarven lass. The Crusaders agree with the Eyes on getting revenge on the elves, but disagree on everything else.
After a couple hours of these four groups arguing, the fifth group--composed of a majority of the dwarves, almost as many humans, a few goblins, and the kobolds--selected Dodok as their representative.
"Shappdup, all of you idjits, and let me say our part! Thank ye kindly. Now then, I just got to the camp a few weeks back, if that long. But before that I was a prisoner of kobolds, who are not nearly as elves are to their prisoners. Hey, you spend a couple weeks in some filthy hole, tossed burnt rats and miniature table scraps, wallowing in your filth, before being one distraction and eaten priest from being dragon chow, then we'll talk. Anyways, as far as I can tell these kobolds will probably be all disorganized by now; their high priest ran out on them. If we take their cave over, we'll have an army of kobolds and a novrin' DRAGON to protect us. And we have the best possible leader for this plan..."
You have an odd feeling of foreboding and excitement.
"The high priest of the kobolds--" Eeaki jumps up and pulls down the hood that concealed your ears--"The reverend kitsune Dan!"

There is an uproar. What do you do?

You manage to warn Dodok about the impending breakout, but can't think of anyone else you know who willingly goes more than five feet from you. As night approaches, you run before you can be put into your cell, but get caught and dragged back...nicely distracting many of the guards with your growing woodcraft and Eekai's magic. Well, then, it seems that there's a rather large crowd of assorted races--mostly humans and goblins, but also a good number of dwarves, a few trolls, and a kobold who Eeaki is chatting happily with in the odd utterances that kobolds speak in. As with many things, the breakout swiftly devolves into chaos. Soon, five main factions form.
One faction is lead by the trolls and primarily consists of goblins. They think that the biggest troll, Orok, should lead and that the whole group should take revenge on the elves. They call themselves the Eyes, from that old saying 'An eye for an eye.'
The second faction is composed of most the remaining goblins and several dwarves. The goblins include the mastermind behind the escape, Xartacs. They call themselves the  Settlers and their goal is to make a new city with the other prisoners.

Alright, I restarted. I'll post an update ASAP, which probably means tomorrow because I'm on a shared computer.

DF Modding / Re: Human Castle (just a bunch of questions)

"Living like a human is already challenge, as anyone who's tried to pull that with dwarves will tell you: Slow, tedious, and if you don't get walls and a gate up ASAP, constant attrition will severely hamper work on workshops space, storage, and not dying in general."

That's why we need reasons to live aboveground.

I might be interested in this.
Is it a fantasy game? High fantasy? Would most questions I have be answered by downloading that document?

I'll take a convict.

Name: GreatWyrmShic
Profession: Thief
Crime: Stole a mug of ale from the king's table.
He stole a fortune of dishes and silverware, and seduced the king's daughter, and you're getting him on stealing ALE? --Hammerer
It's what my daughter wanted, ask her. --King

Requirements: Must be married (totally not to the king's daughter in disguise), should not have kids, ideally has no/few useful civilian skills. Military skills are fine, though, especially if they focus on defensive skills.
Personalty: Will do anything to secure a nice, relatively safe and sane life for him and his lovely bride. He's actually a pretty nice guy, just on the wrong side of the law. Think Robin Hood crossed with Captain Jack Sparrow, but with more alcohol and beard.

That's it, that's it, I'm giving up and moving the fortress to somewhere without aquifers!

I'll try something like that. I already did, actually, but went off the wiki's assumption that aquifers don't make water diagonally.

"Oh, hell."

Richard instinctively reached for his Evoker.

'Oh hell' was becoming his new catchphrase.
Well, every hero needs one...

So, where are you headed? Shadow's place?
I think so.
Alright. And you're walking, carrying the Light, and leaving the cops to clean up the abandoned van in the middle of the street?
Just like real superheroes!

Can you mod the things needed for bees to live?
I have considered adding new hiveable species. Like, cobbler elves (make shoes) or golden wasps (make gold...somethings).

DF Modding / DFhacking aquifers
« on: September 21, 2012, 08:27:24 pm »
I tried to use DFhack to get past some aquifers that were really bugging me by replacing the aquifer walls with obsidian. This doesn't seem to have worked. Is there some way DFhack can help me out?
