I thought cutters made perfect gems and setters made other stuff.

When prices rise and the two cheapest products are the same price, dwarves will no longer switch back and forth several times per market visit.

DF General Discussion / Re: What Would Urist Do?
« on: September 21, 2012, 03:35:45 pm »
Nothing. That does not compute. Urist would try to find six other dwarves (possibly replace with Bay12ers) and an uninhabited area, then start a fortress.

What would Urist do with six Bay12ers and an Antarctic expedition? He also has a pick.

I could, however, define a new custom workshop which requires a taxidermied animal, which is made from hair, feathers, or scales, which would get [REACTION_CLASS:TAXIDERMY] or something...

The above idea sounds good. I can also see a kind of mushroom that negates the effect for a month or so? when eaten or when its alcohol is drunk, but it grows slowly and might have lesser syndromes, like nausea for a day or a little liver necrosis. Brew only the Dwarfbeard Mycelium or whatever it's called, and you could have a fortress of subterranean humans with lots of vomit in the stockpiles and some rotten livers. The mushroom should probably grow slowly and occur in the lowest cavern level dwarves can export plants from.

Could lots of firewood be used to substitute or be turned into fuel?

Like I said in the middle of the post ish, firewoods main use would be for charcoal production for the time being. As far as I know one of the reasons for using charcoal over just wood is that it burns much hotter, which is necessary for smelting and metalcrafting, where the heat from just burning wood simply isn't enough.

I thought it said it would be mostly used for low-temperature work.

Either way. Save might be better, but a better picture or something would be simpler.

And a future supply of wood is nice, but I'm not sure if we have enough to wall off the aquifer...

Incidentally, I was chatting with a few people I know from school and the topic of space came up. One of them might be able to design a spaceship, although she would of course need to be taken along.

Granted. The high costs drive you into poverty and they deny you coverage once you do get injured. Apparently, they consider the cause of that chandelier falling on you a pre-existing condition of stupidity.

I wish I could sell my spare Utahraptor chicks and get tons of money for it.

Jakc again pinches the rear tires of the van to pop them.
The van pretty much stops due to its back tires not working anymore. Lonnie jumps to avoid hitting the back of the van. Two men who look like random guys from work, except wearing balaclavas, come out of the door with guns. Not nice guns, the probably-illegal machine pistol or SMG-type that can fire lots of bullets really fast and fairly accurately. It looks like a FA-MP-c4, designed by some mad supervillain or another and noted for being able to handle big, explodey rounds. It's pretty much standard-issue among those hunting tough superheroes or people in lighter powered armor. Tomcat is neither.

I'll be very careful with adding power-boosting things to any hero except Tomcat.

Limited power boosts, eh? Damn, no Messiah for me.
Although Tomcat and Shadow could do with a lot more powerboosting.

Why does everyone think my character is weak? He's at the limit of human strength, and agile enough to dodge anything that comes his way, possibly bullets. In a fistfight with batman he'd win. Maybe he could use the odd smokebomb or something, but nothing too serious.
Your hero's power is basically being part cat. What happens if I boost that? You become mostly-cat.

I think the GM needs to make an action for popping the tires. Tomcat won't do anything now until he sees what they do, and I'm not seeing anyone else rushing after the van at the moment.
Oh, right, you want me to say if it works. You guys were regulating yourselves pretty well there, kudos.

Wait, there are caverns?
If adwarf gets an underground lake and good-sized city, I want a...SOMETHING underground! I'm still working on what!
I got it because I said so when I started, the only reason its a good size is because I don't have any other cities and I have to carve out more room for mine if it grows, you can colonize a city underground in game if you want, but don't just say "Oh he has something underground I WANTZ TO!" Not trying to be mean or anything, just saying if you want something go for it :P
Oh, you only have the underground thing? Never mind, I don't have any idea what I'd put down there anyways.

I'd advise adding a character list to the OP.
