Put him into a pit for a while. Collect the corpse. If you must do a cave-in, build a bridge and a floor so that only the bridge supports it.

But not wells or other things that require blocks. Besides, I'm imagining making two blocks with the amount of material it would take to make one bar of soap or something--more efficient.
Maybe I'll start with soap; the soaping reactions are already in the raws.

Unable to rest from not being memorialized is a cause. It's just not a moddable cause.

And when have the laws of physics stopped dwarves--or anything in DF--from not existing?

How about we stop the mapping at some point, and force the people with the map to finish within 2-3 days of getting it unless they let us know they'll have it soon, or something like that?

Sounds good.

Bonus: Mod in ways to turn whale organs and meat and stuff into blocks and build an anatomically correctish giant whale!

With any luck, you'll have been replacing the moldy bits with Whale Tallow Soap before it's all gone!
Wouldn't it be cooler to replace them with, say, steel or rock? And wouldn't miasma kill the fort's happiness?
Legendary whale soap trumps miasma.
Let's see if I get the plan...
Wait for multi-hundred-ton whale to beach itself.
Strike the Whale!
Mine whale fat.
Turn fat into soap.
Use soap to replace rotting whale flesh.
...I don't think there's enough fat in a giant sperm whale to do that, you'd need to have your Starting Seven make soap 48 hours a day minimum to turn that fat into soap before the whale rotted assuming a sufficient lye supply...
Great idea, though.

Didn't say it ALL had to come from the original whale.  After the first season, you should be able to set up a handy semi-submerged whaling pen to keep stocks going.
By the first season, the whale should have mostly rotted...still a good idea, just needs work.

Dwarves who mutate physically should now react with horror. I'm working on better situational reactions now, so you might have a three-armed dwarven supervillan, heh heh.

Two.

Name: That's for me to know, but most call me Bowie.
Gender: Male
Skills: Stealth, not getting sick
How I Found Out: One of my buds started coughing blood halfway across the room from me.
Housing: Wherever no one's looking too hard, sometimes gang safehouses
Notable gear: Crossbow, Bowie knife, (stolen) bulletproof vest
Fitness Level: Surprisingly good, given the circumstances
Other info: I'm a low-lifer, a nominal member of a minor gang in a big city near/where the game is set. I've rot some skills and a Bowie knife, as well as a crossbow I've practiced with once or twice a month and used a total of three times. I mostly focus on pickpocketing, but occasionally do a bit of burglary or the like. My only talent is that I've not been sick a day in my life.

I thought kaiju was just another Japanese trope name...you learn something completely random every day around here.

You could also make the skin copper or whatever, but then you couldn't make leather.

Still cloaked Maxamillian was surprised to see the van hurtle past him. Before he could even begin to react he saw his team-mate and the police arrive. 'Merde... I was hoping this would be a normal day. Well then... let's see what we can't do.' dashing unseen after his team-mate he prepared his favorite knife for whatever may happen.

[So is the van who we want or the people following?]
How would you know? Words can do wonders.

A yup.

-----

Suddenly, a large van that screams either "Criminal!" or "Conspiracy!" depending on your views on conspiracy theories barrels down the street, followed by a pair of people, one man and one woman. The man sorta waves his hand, causing the van to rock on its suspension.
What do you do? And yes, I'm adding the two waiters to the hero list. They'll be in the OP as soon as I have a real keyboard.
