Oh man, that's great. When a wild animal kills a member of a civ, it goes and finds a lair, usually in a wilderness location. I think it's so questgivers will have a place to send you when they ask you to kill it.

What happened here, I think, is that the sea monster killed this guy, so it went to find a lair, but there aren't any underwater lairs in the game right now, so it walked inland and air-drowned.

Odd that it took four years for that to happen, though... what is this "Pineabyss" place? Is it a lair or a village?
Lair. It took four years because physics don't kick in until the player shows up.

You grab Eeaki and run! Dodok is also quite capable of running; despite his heavy armor, he charges forward, clearing a bunch of undergrowth. You follow, but you realise that the sounds of the elves are getting closer. The forest seems to help the elves as it hinders you. You might need to ditch Dodok if you want to escape, or you could try to find the least dense patch of forest around and hide there or something, or you could surrender.

Perhaps keep dodging (etc) values as how well you do something, but have a 'reaction' value that specifies how quickly the thing (dodging, parrying, hitting with whatever weapon) is actually done?

(A high reaction/low dodge combo could explain how combatants end up falling off of things when they dodge, as well...)
Sounds good!

So if they don't react quick enough it results in a successful attack for the enemy. which is essentially the same end result, right?

dR-Good at evading, bad at going where you want to by doing so
Dr-Can sometimes dodge, but always safely (not thrown to ground, off cliff, etc).

I think Toady intends to multithread DF eventually? I am not aware of anything where he said he wouldn't, and see no reason it would be bad, just tough and a good idea to leave until the end.

You check for news about the fire. It suggests "supervillain activity" as a probably cause, and mentions that the Macropolis Patrol will be visiting there soon. It's a big news event. You can't find any evidence of the bank robbery being connected to you, although it does mention several criminals taking the opportunity to do various crimes while the city was distracted, but neither the bank nor a half-machine woman with a pick-hand are mentioned.
You set out the loggerbot. It [3] fells a small tree and chops some of it into planks and such fairly fast. Once it's finished, [3] the woodbot builds an adequate firing range.
You can buy up to [1] two chickens for [1] $100, total. Maybe you could haggle for $50-60 for one, but as it's a rooster and a hen it should get you started.
[6] You build a whole arsenal of mini-heat-rays, from pistol-sized to bazooka-sized. You didn't have time to beta test them, though. [1] You can't find any anti-burn cream, anywhere. And that's about a day's work.

You ake up. Nothing notable happens before you dress yourself, unless of course you run out of your room before getting dressed. That's interesting, and may trigger other interesting events...Look, what do you do?
