Someone suggested sleep deprivation, I'll try that.

Yeah, just look for I's on the map, they might not exist if your world is too young (maybe too old too). Don't worry, everyone is friendly, you can just walk in at the beginning of the game!
Don't, unless you're a vampire.

If you're really lucky, your necro can become the ruler of your dwarfs.
It'd be nice to screw with the elves as a necromancer 8) Is it possible to destroy their entire race in adventurer?
No. You can't find a single elf, unless you've modded them or the humans conquered an eleven forest retreat.

Sure. They'd probably just give better thoughts until the economy gets into place.

Not everything, or even most things, would need to be done four times over, although the races should probably work better as NPCs (thereby getting most of the race-specific stuff out of the way) before Toady works on making them playable.

Relative ranks might work, but there need to be absolutes for determining quality of a work.

Goody, another poster!
Oh, and hi GB4L.

-----

"Th' caverns? Aright, it be better than any kobold camp, any day."
The dwarf pauses a moment to orient himself, and says, "Follow me, an' look like yer leadin'."
You try to follow his orders, and the kobold in the corner follows. "Me name's Dodok, in case ye be wonderin'."
"Thanks, Dodok."
The kobolds wail unhappily as you leave, and several in some vaguely priestly garb start to follow. They all leave before you actually reach the edge of the settlement.

Soon all light from the kobolds' eyes and their few torches fades, leaving only the dimmest of light from the luminous fungus that is often cultivated near settlements and the occasional gleam of a light-emitting lizard or somesuch. Soon, even the former fades.
"How can you see anyth--"
"Shuddup, Dan! Ththngs inth' cav'rns're drawn by--"
You hear a strange, gravelly bellow from not so far away.
"RUN, DAN!" shouts Dodok. Oh, my...

This, indeed, is ☼Science☼.
Of course, as an engineering major, I'm mostly interested in the practical applications, i.e. optimal bolt-making materials, which seem to be silver and steel (the latter being much more resource intensive).
Conclusion: Silver is the optimal material for bolts in terms of both availability and damage potential.1) (Fake) bone seems an adequate supplement, although the results are, of course, only approximate in that case.

In any case, I salute your impressive statistical analysis.
♪ so the ‼Science‼ gets done
and you make some neat *silver bolts [20]*
for the dorfs that are
Still Alive...♫

1) This seems to be a significant deviation from real-world physics, where iron and bronze are far superior bolt materials. Steel, of course, is quite effective in real life as well.
...Damn you, I just got that out of my head. Portal does have a lot of parallels to DF, though...
