Why do the rockets always stick?
Because it's still firing! The rocket is being pushed into the back of your craft. Either cut your throttle or empty your fuel tanks first.
Well yeah, but then I can't make a crack at Kerbal Engineering Skillz.

Well, Unholy pretty much suffered the same thing. I'm tied to what the dice say.
Not saying otherwise. Just because both of us are getting screwed doesn't mean one of us isn't.

Anyway, with your current stats, you weren't so specialized as you may think. if you had one point less in both pool and speed, you could put them into dexterity, effectively making a good use of your +1 in strength. That +1 in strength actually makes 1 out of 3 attacks from you to apply the maximum penalty (for flesh). You already hit hard, but you didn't have the opportunity to do so because you missed.
What kind of knight is dextrous?
And I wanted to not suck too hard if I survived long enough for magic to be scienced into superiority.

I think, if it's about finished, it's probably time to figure out IC what to do about the whole "trapped souls of over 500 men, women, and children" thing before we leave the area for our next destination.
Um, yeah.

Lol unless you free them your proving beyond doubt your evil.
Really. An action even self-proclaimed Evil Overlords will not do is evil.

Quote
...and Carl is judging on my actions which as he said haven't been all that bad so he's not really totally against it if the summoner is using it with honor and respect and for good causes as I am.
As you say you are. Like you said before, we haven't really had a chance to get to trust each other.
And, like Carl said, he doesn't have any particular reason to believe Torban.

Quote
I have a question though. These summons masters can kill them for good, how am I supposed to do as you said and free the summons without killing the Gnolls controlling them and those defending them? The summons can't escape until I remove the stones from the Gnolls which would require me to kill them.
It's called a "Catch-22," Alexandria. Aren't they absolutely fun?

And no answer. Very useful for trying to avoid a huge fight.
1. Didn't the GM say he was going to sleep?
2. This isn't exactly one of the issues.

Carl leaves.

"Your intentionsss remain to be ssseen, sssummoner. It isss a ssstrange way to teach but half then blame the ssstudent, calling it jussstification to not finisssh the lessson."
"Indeed. And every lapse in judgement, every mistake, every act you make of questionable morality makes me doubt your trustworthiness even more...not that you've done much to deserve it."

"I expected him to consider the consequences of his actions. If you teach somebody how to wield lightning because you believe him to be responsible enough to wield it and then he kills with it does that make it your fault?"
"A question that must be asked before that is answered is...why did you believe he would be responsible? What did Kyle do that made you think he would be able to handle these powers responsibly? No offense, Kyle, but I'm not convinced I'd trust him to handle keeping a bar."

Torban sighs and looks around.

"Have I given any of you reason to doubt my sincerity?"
"I have no particular reason to believe or disbelieve your statements. I have several reasons to disagree with your conclusions of innocence, however..."

"The only one not considering the actions was you Kyle..."
"It certainly does not seem you considered this well, either..."

"Because I do not know you..."
"Then why did you trust him?"

"What a vile magic you ussse, sssummoner. I'll have no part of it."

With that, she turned on her heel and left the summoner behind.
"I cannot argue with his logic. Binding magic seems to me a magic better left erased from existence."

So Kyle taking a summon who agrees is fine.

Me taking them when they have freely agreed to it is not? Even though I've given catagorical proof that I will free them if they wish?

Also. Your saying it's wrong for me to do it because sealing them is wrong but saying is fine when Kyle does it in the same breath. Small issue?
Again, this discussion is more about summoning in general than any specific example.

She wasn't a summon at the time, she was a plant.
THey would have forced her into becoming a summon the same way that Torban made her into a summon to protect her. Her mind was broken so it was easy to force. After she regained her mind, she became freed allowing her body to reform. Normal summons cannot do that.
...And summoners can sense not only summons, but also potential summons? OP, man, OP.

Quote
You know what I mean. Quit arguing over something I already explained. Summons are allowed to break their contract with a summoner. There is a thing called free will. They have it, the gnolls have it, even the PCs have it.
I think the problem is that no one really understands how this works...not helping is that the effects aren't really coming through. You're supposed to need consent and not bind sentients, but mindbroken people and dead wolves have been bound with no issue.

Oh shush you :P
I'll boo anything worth booing.

Nope if you read the books that explain the lore it does explains originally the orcs while not exactly civilized were not evil in the manner the movies portray.
They were pretty industrialized for the world.

Well, the orcs were made from corrupted elves, weren't they?
And?

No die right now, random.org.

Follow the tracks. Also experiment with turning the crystal into meat.
[5-0.2-1=4] You think you have tracks?
And sadly, no.

Selina panics and keeps running, trying to find a good place to hide.
"That annoy." Create a metal bat and break the spear to a more manageable length. Do not remove the spear, because that would be a good way to bleed to death

Then follow again.
Not a crystal spear. You got hit with a burst of raw magic. Happened a couple of times in the source material.
Oh...
"That annoy." Recover, follow
[1+0.4v6]
Selina flees and trips over a root. Kuroe chases and trips over Selina. Selina fell near a small ravine.
[3+0.4=4]
She is basically okay!

Well, page ten and we already thoroughly derailed the plot, destroyed our starting town, and may have kicked off the (incredibly slow) apocalypse.
Go team.
P.S: A lot of those pages were spent on character creation.

Quote
Keep looking for Selina. If any screams and stuff start up, follow them.
[5+who cares]
You realize that you're following the wrong tracks!

Go back. Whoever it is I'm hunting, I hardly remember him or her by now and she's probably been eaten by bears or exploded. Return to home base!
You head back to camp.

Pat my smoking limb frantically. Damn that smarts! You'll have to find someone else captain, I'm afraid light doesn't work too well on reflective surfaces. But I suppose I could try something else.. Make a light hammer.
Power: [4--0.3=4]
Control: [4-0.3=3]
You form a hafted lump of light. It isn't particularly well-formed or anything, but it's a thing. It is also very--surprise, surprise--light.

I should keep up with the XP gains.

I like how apparently gnolls are just these brutal evil creatures. Are they Tolkien orcs, or something? Few things are black and white.
IIRC, the original Tolkien orcs weren't entirely Always Chaotic Evil. That was more later. Point still stands.

as for whether Alma Alrune would become a summon to the Gnolls. They force their summons to obey since they can break and permanantly kill summons. They were taught that by Ixohr.
She wasn't a summon at the time, she was a plant.

Quote
can we stop with the pornoplant name? It's weird.
+1

Quote
Also, Her becoming Kyle's summon was free will.
I do not beleive anyone is complaining about that.

Quote
Drop it now. It's in the past.
So, you're not going to have any more summons bound in the future? And you think Alexandria has addressed our concerns?

All gnolls are evil until the GM stats otherwise :P which will happen a few times.
And only a few, huh?
BOO!

"All they have to do is change there mind and they can break they can break the connection. However doing so would leave them trapped. I however am more then willing to free them with a new body if they wish it as I did with her."
Carl frowned. "This is all good and well, but...what power enforces your doing so?"

Well, alrighty then. What am I going to do with a supersoaker filled with cat piss?
Would you like me to quote everyone who got something worse?

I think I might be the best example. Sure, mellows might have some use...but you can get them for free. I'd rather have gotten coal.

I can be angry at both of you, thank you very much.

Especially since we're discussing summoning in general more than in specific.
