Or, wall-door-bars-bars, with walls between cells or something.

Did he go nuts from not being able to meet with your fortress leader?
Also, elf diplomat?

Well, there's two ways you could do this.

1. Mine a floating island with some natural soil in it. This makes for an easy way to grow crops, and if you chose clay you'd have infinite building material.
2. Build a floor, then water it. You can grow crops on mud, you know, even those surface crops.

Beekeepers might help, though.

Couldn't you explain it in the manual and advise people not to make things they don't understand?

DF Modding / Re: Body_transformation and CE_add_tag
« on: September 04, 2012, 03:32:14 pm »
Let me make sure I understand this:
If, say, I want to make a poison that turns a person into a carp (so I can turn people into fish and make them suffocate on dry land), it's no good unless I add the tags necessary for fish-like behavior?  If that's the case, I may as well just make a poison that makes people unable to breath air, cut the transformation out completely.
Sadly, you can't add a poison that does the second thing.

Are you taking suggestions/requests?
Sure! It's not like I have a job.
Hm, how about...some kind of creepy tileset, with overly sharp corners and eyes on the letters and stuff? Or perhaps some sort of font inspired by Russian language or something? Or Greek letters?

I would have thought you'd get an error from the game thinking BULLET was the skill...Meh, problem solved.

To reply to your problems with the incomplete implementation of the undead:

*True
*Piercing, yeah, but how do you cut an arm with a spear? As to the other bit, you can server an arm's lower arm, killing it instantly and causing only the lower arm to reanimate.
*How are you certain this isn't intentional? Losing is Fun, Urist McTooSlow.
*True enough...but why would maces get a bonus?

Besides, zombies are easy to cause to collapse, at which point they aren't a threat if you dump the corpse into magma or a pit they can't escape from. And you did get a fair warning about the evil area...

Nothing. The LoH don't have the mining labor activated, so he's fine.

What would Urist do if he was deciding how to program a dorfputer?

I live in Belgium, and they speak French in Congo, so thats fine with me.
To be fair, they might not be too happy to see you. The Belgium Colonization of Congo was not a good time.
Speaking of which, take over Belgium. Good R&D industry, central location, and it's not like the governement is capable of intervening on a short notice. Better use a "legal" coup rather than a military one.
Sounds good, especially the "do things legally" part.
You guys are looking at this wrong. It is too much to get guns and try to defeat a entire countries military. It would be alot easier to stage a coup de`etat instead. Kill major government officials, take over, a voila! It worked for those guys in mali, so why not do it ourselves?

The most stylish way to take over a country.
Hell Yes.

Also: we need to choose a country with at least some useful resources.
When we take over a country, if we have good PR, we could take out a national debt.
I also suggest designing and building DORA MkII, as a long-term side project.
How would we fix national debt while working on our projects, or at all, and what is a DORA Mk II?

I'm blunt. That's probably among my biggest flaws.
I understand he spent a lot of time on this, but A. I come up with suggestions and think of the details in my mind's spare time while I'm doing other things, and B. If I wrote a 10-paragraph essay on adding multiplayer or slavery to DF, how would I be received? The length and detail of an entry is not always proportionate to the amount of time spent specifically on it, and hardly at all with the quality.
I could find nothing much to say about the details, so I pointed out the issues with the whole thing. Bluntly.

Demigods would, ideally, have some actual connection to the divine someday. When that happens, you'd probably play as a mostly-normal adventurer, just more powerful and more bound to your divine parent.
Playing as an avatar of a god sounds more interesting than playing as a god itself. After all, the avatar is, essentially, the god, so the avatar could probably call down the god's power.

Geez, I let this rest for 18 hours or so, and nothing happens.

Okay...Wrex, would you prefer to be a kitsune or a murloc?

People in the real world worship deities, too. The difference is that the DF gods do stuff (you know, big, verifiable stuff). Also, I think you mean 1050 years.

Gregory tends to disagree with the others due to his differing viewpoints, but will relent if the others have a point, outnumber him, and/or include a superior officer.

I see what you did there :P

Yup, referring to when I was being outvoted.

Nothing. He has stuff done to him.

What would Urist do if shrunken down to the size of a flea?
