Life goes back to as normal as it can get, despite the deaths and the one “missing” dwarf everyone knows must be dead and the many wounded (ten dwarves out of 48, or more than 20%, are in need of diagnosis). The overseer tells a few random craftsdwarves who had some time on their hands to start diagnosing, although as two are unconscious the effect might not be much.
Solon, the aforementioned tantrumer, tries to start a fistfight instead of sparring. This causes an archer to need to roll away from his punches, dropping her baby. After a few days of allegedly tantruming, during which nothing happened but a clumsy sword-slash and some more clumsy punches, the swordsdwarf calms down.
The chief medical dwarf is fine; in fact, despite losing some teeth in the fight, he is bringing two wounded dwarves in at a time and joking about taking people to bed with his wife.
We’re taking apart one of the cage traps and rebuilding the weapon trap. Also, the trap corridor is being extended slightly. To prevent future problems, corpses will be dumped into the volcano with a minecart system the overseer has come up with.
There is a tantruming fisher lying on top of the hill, pale and unable to walk from a dented leg and very unhappy but otherwise right as rain.
The trap corridor will be extended more, including a jaunt underground.
On the 22nd of Granite, the miner was possessed! She claims a mason’s workshop and begins grabbing stuff.
It was noticed that we have fire clay. The overseer decided to make a kiln.
On the 18th of Slate, with some ore, some bones from goblins’ right upper arms, a couple cut amethysts, a pinfire opal, and a lot of stone, the miner--Reg Drilledaxe, already a legend--began construction. He’s muttering something about an ozonilun…
The kiln is ready to be built, using nearby green glass. All we need to do is find or assign a potter and we’ll have stoneware by the ton!
There is new furniture in the dining hall. On the downside, we seem to have run out of gold, so the miners are mining some more.
On Slate 23, Reg made a garnierite door called Depressedhall. Its estimated worth is nearly 2 million db--that’s half the value of the whole rest of our fortress!
