DF Suggestions / Re: New Family of Spiders Discovered.

Spiders should cling to walls. Then we'd have a new scary thingy.
Maybe [WALLCRAWLER] or whatever could be like [FLIER],  except the creature can't move away from walls while in the air.

Then he should change it. It would take less than a minute, if he knows what he's doing.

I know! To make it different than all of the others, make it so that the dwarves worship some OTHER kind of god for a change!

Like...a forest god, who demands offerings of your finest wooden crafts and elves to tend the shrine!
Or...a fishing god, who needs a temple built in water (like, an area of dry constructions surrounded by water on all sides), with piers for fishing upstairs.
Or...a wind god, who needs a shrine built high above the ground, with long, thin platforms without railings connecting bigger platforms that serve as rooms.
Or anything else non-cliche, really.
Maybe the whole fortress could be built on that religious theme.

I don't believe so. Although, obviously, they have common ancestry, but then so do petunias and peacocks.
I think that DF's kobolds are probably archaic-type synapsids of some variety, if they fit into classical classifications at all.
(Hint: I am referring to "mammal-like reptiles," as such synapsids were referred to decades ago before more sciencey terms were coined.)

I doubt it. They're all insane.

Interestingly, the “wild” titanic slime does not attack anyone. I suppose it still feels something for us.
Both the ghostly zominxac and the ghostly markscreeper are hanging around the cistern area. There is also a grasshopperperspn couple on the higher ground to the south.
On the 27th of Felsite, a request for buckets goes out. This is, in part, because of a wounded creeper--one with missing teeth (the lower teeth in the right and front) and a torn left rear leg. I order five buckets, three crutches, and two splints to be made, as well as for the medic to be restricted to the hospital until basic treatment of the patient has commenced. Mestthos, the medic, seems to be sulking.
And so ends spring.

Here is our old courtyard. Not much to see, except for some blood, scattered bolts, and the new wood stockpile, kept mostly empty by the wood chute.

This is the floor with bedrooms, workshops, and to the northwest, the new food stockpile! You can also see the patient and the sulking doctor. Towards the south, next to the jeweler’s workshop, is the diamond refinery I built. I suppose I should refine some gems there at some point, no?
Sadly, aside from a random potash maker creating a legendary crown which will ensure our fortress is remembered for generations to come and the giant kea attack, nothing interesting happened yet.

Sorry for the short update, but I haven't been able to get much DFing done today and I was at the end of a season.

Because DF, despite its awesome, is still only known to a fairly small number of people (in the low millions at most, probably) and enjoyed by even fewer.

Why do people think that because DF is awesome, it must be universally recognized as such?

Stonefall traps weren't very deadly last time I checked. Also, I've had dwarvers survive things falling on them (most notably, a minecart full of logs), so it's obviously not always fatal.

Kobolds also lack the poison spurs which male platypi have.
Large daggers
Not poisonous, not on the feet, not limited to males.

Platypi have fur and beaks, neither of which kobolds have. Kobolds also lack the poison spurs which male platypi have.

Oh, obviously that stuff's being planned. And when it's implemented, presumably skills will affect your ability to talk your way out of situations.

Kobolds are actually more reptilian. Not lizardfolk; I think Toady used the word "reptilomammals" or somesuch to describe them. Certainly, they are completely hairless and lay eggs.
