Money. Well, we don't technically need money, we just need enough of the constituent parts that we can make one ourselves. This will still be expensive, and our top scienists are working oon it. Current progress says: Sell Juice. Or space tourism.

I personally say we hoodwink some investors, like in jurrasic park, except for the part where we are eaten. Plus, we know there is a market for it, so, we can bust some heads.
First off: It's space tourism AND sell juice. Made from real Lunar oranges! Or apples, if you prefer apple juice, but that's not important.
Second: Hammond wasn't deceitful, he just showed off his little elephant and made vague promises about an awesome park that would be opening in a few years. We can do the same, except without the elephant or the secrecy. "We're starting this neat-o lunar resort, with spaceflight cruises of a few hours for our less absurdly wealthy clients. Who wants to invest in the most potentially profitable industry since computers?"

Try using minecarts.

Toss the flames into a moat that's continually being refilled by a river or something. There, you now have a moat that drowns AND burns!

Well, don't accidentally type the key-string that will release the monsters into the fortress. 'Kay?

A better idea, when dealing with dwarves, is to dig a big pit to prevent the dwarves from digging out. More labor-intensive? Probably.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Weaponizing dragons.

Why not just let them lose on the enemy?
It only takes one lucky and armed goblin to end a dragon...

My one concern is elite bowmen. I have no idea if the rounds can penetrate dragonscale, and it's not like I don;t have dragons to spare, but it still worries me.

Elite bowmen can and will hit your dragon through fortifications,  it's best to have some dragonfire proof (nether-cap) bridge that you can bring up to protect it while elite bowman are firing at him.
Also, put something between the fortifications and the goblins, or else goblins right next to the fortifications will be able to fire right at the dragon.

Creatures don't break out of cages. If you are clumsy, though, they might accidentally be released. This is not recommended.

Stuff them all into a couple cages.
Deconstruct the cages.
Put the cages into a stockpile.
Have a minecart take from said stockpile, until they have all of the dragon-loaded cages in them.
Use a minecart gun, loaded with said minecart.
Watch the cages fly out of the minecart, and the dragons fly out of the cages.
Repeat as desired.

Or not. Your choice.

Alright, the dwarf is armored and prepared to kill things with his fists...what's the problem?
(Kidding, of course.)

It seems odd to me that, while wrestling is often lethal during training, nothing else ever is (barring a poorly-placed pit or goblin invasion or something).

Okay, there's several major issues with the robot cat idea. It's moronic, it relies on the president of China liking cats, and how are we going to get a cat with a nuclear self-destruct button past customs?

I think this is pretty impressive considering that most people I know have no idea what DF is. If only some popular American magazines could get their heads tightened and stop talking about Minecraft and CoD.

Also, it seems that said gaming magazine knows its stuff, so would you mind if I asked what ranked 1st?

Of course not:

1st was Deus Ex
2nd was Minecraft
3rd was Civilizations IV (yes, I spell it with a z out of respect for the devs)

In whole, I think the listers knew their shit. But there were some things I disagreed with.
...Minecraft was #2? Above Civilization AND DF?
Also, what's Deus Ex and why is it #1?

One of the things that actually helped pull me into DF was the fact that I saw it on a list of "Best free games of all time" on Yahoo back in like 2006.
...Wasn't DF released in 2006?
Holy Carp.

DF Modding / Re: How would I make a Husking Reaction?
« on: August 17, 2012, 08:22:34 am »
Husks are actually still alive: they are not dead, and cannot become ghosts until the husk is killed. As far as I know, it simply heaps a shitton of tags on the infected creature.
Pretty much, yeah.
