Roll To Dodge / Re: Roll to Go Mad: Turn 38 - Shas Ria, the City of Summer
« on: February 18, 2014, 09:11:16 am »
I thought it was because someone went Marvin the Martian on the Moon.
Eh, something like that too. I don't want to say too much more for fear of giving away the story of this game prematurely.
Well, there is an in-story explanation for it then?

*Relevant Information Thuun Currently Knows:
[1] They are normal men and women "cursed" by some unknown quasi-magical force that doesn't conform to normal magic laws.
[2] Most are feral, but one among them, encountered by the other members of the group was intelligent and used the quasi-magic to attack and sustain itself.
[3] They are entirely separate from the typical demons encountered in Yagalia normally.
[4] They are cutting off messages between cities, indicating some degree of organization.
[5] They are resistant to normal magical power.
[6] They can use runes and other means of magical projection to drive others insane.
[7] They use Iron Weapons ((Would Thuun know this? I assume if the others knew they told him?))
Quick question, how well convinced are each of your characters on Thuun's conclusions? It's nice to know these things for when you're inevitably asked about them by a well-meaning but accidentally obstructive guard/scholar/inconsequential NPC.
1. Seems probable enough, especially for the beigemen.
2. I'm not sure those were all the same thing.
3. The beigemen, yes, but the other guy? Perhaps not. It's hard to tell.
4. "Speculation, pure speculation. It's quite possible, but it could just as easily be something else."
5. Probable.
6. Unlikely possessed by all--probably not the beigemen, perhaps only some of the others. To be on the safe side, we might as well assume all of them can, though.
7. Indeed. This doesn't mean they normally do, though.

((Well I assumed it wouldn't be overly positive because its medieval and in our world that meant "treat gays horribly"
Gays, Jews, Middle Easteners, heathens, "heathens," "witches," etc etc.

"Hm. I'll need to practice this."
First off, make a mental note to buy a glove for my rockhand.
After that, study one of the unread magic books until it's time to sleep.
Let's see, which ones are left...

It's still quite a bit.
Yeah. Thankfully, there's more time to fix it.

Also, If I might clarify what exactly I meant by her booster emotion or whatever:
Rage is kinda a subtype of anger. yes, it's anger, but it's a specific flavor of it. Anger can be controlled, used constructively. Rage... not so much. Rage is the simple desire to destroy every motherfucker that so much as looks at you funny, and in the most ruthless and brutal way possible.
That okay?
Catalyst emotion. And yes, that's good.

"That annoy." Create a metal bat and break the spear to a more manageable length. Do not remove the spear, because that would be a good way to bleed to death

Then follow again.
Not a crystal spear. You got hit with a burst of raw magic. Happened a couple of times in the source material.

Do you expect said military force to arm its soldiers entirely with light weapons?

No one has gotten the "Free beating from Nyars" coupon yet.
Now, that would be useful. Slip it to one enemy.
Mellows? I can get them for free.

Aw yeah... who's the hoopy frood! Always know where your towel is people :D
In the bathroom.

You get a Towel
((Pause: With that number, this is really the best thing. Still...useless.))
You just wait until we come across a Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal, then we'll see what's useless  :P
Yeah, yeah.

They're a drug. You smoke them. It calms you down a bit.
You can get them free from the armory.
Oh.
...I think I got the worst thing then.

The Southern Isles are a good while to the...um...south. You're on the Mainland. Arendelle would have problems before them.

How fast did I say it was expanding? A foot per minute? That would be a bit under a hundred miles per year. 1.8 times a rapid snail's pace, but still.

I have an important question that could* change plans for our whole defense!

What the hell are mellows? I got a box of them.

*Iff and only if mellows are some kind of awesome super-weapon. Like, a thingy that makes a bunch of people not want to fight.

Who needs a modified laser rifle battery? This thing is absolutely useless to me.
Hell of a lot more useful than what most got.

You get an ancient space suit with a human skeleton in it.

You get a Jawbreaker candy thats a foot in diameter.

You get a bag of Man-nip

You get a Carton of Blue Smokes

You get a Towel
((Pause: With that number, this is really the best thing. Still...useless.))
Quote
You get a small, robotic, anatomical model.

You get a carton of Mellows
((Sorry to interrupt, but what the heck are these?))
Quote
You get a chess set

You get a T-shirt that reads "Dirty Elf" And shows a burning tree

You get a small, tree shaped air freshener.

You get a supersoaker filled with cat piss

You get what appears to be an apology letter.

You get a small, war of the worlds tripod walker remote control toy.

You get a pair of green boxing gloves
A few of these have some hypothetical use, but most are basically useless. If you had a laser, you'd probably be able to fire special shots.

...

Care to trade? I have some nice mellows.

Gold: When you're a boy, it's Shota.
No, when a little boy likes a little girl.
*cough*Alistair*cough*
Yes, we're talking about him.

You can have ONE main character. Said other character would have to be a side character. :P
Why? HILDA's pretty much a side character.

"It's 90 minutes of people feeling very bad. Is this movie for sadists? I'd rather see the one where they reproduce."
Oh you.

Anything of note happen in the past ~15 pages?

Meme gives a little sad face and hugs back tightly.
"What's wrong?"
"I make yous and Awistair sad, and den hurwt head." Meme looks very sad, but is comforted slightly by the two huggings.
"Oh. That's not good."

"Oh, but Angel doesn't look sad..."
"I kinda got over it...maybe..."

((And that leaves ~15 pages unread. Anything of note?))

Note to self: Consider holding a member of each ship's crew hostage to prevent them from wanting to fire on me. Use the captain if possible.

I wonder if the goal is not to break the cycle, but to protect the cycle.

I think that might actually be the case.

The true goal of the Warrens' is to figure out why the AngelInTraining has a tiara as his symbol when he's a guy.
Guys can wear tiaras, too, if they either lived in a time when such things weren't exclusively associated with small girls and/or were able to order the execution of anyone who mocked them.
