Once goblin sieges set in, you'll usually hit a nice equilibrium of population, barring FTW devices being built in the interim. Surprisingly often, that equilibrium is set at zero.

...Oops, typo. Very amusing typo, but still.

He's probably paralysed. He can't do much when he's losing the battle to get his lungs to do stuff.
He was not paralyzed, its the fact that the spider gave up every once and a while and spammed webs then made the dwarf focus on deflecting love bites with his head.
Was he ever bitten, successfully? All those attacks, consistantly to the head, only happens when dwarves are incapacitated.

First off, I don't think a legendary needs to be bifurcated.
Second off, I suppose making true legendaries rare makes sense...although the title seems like it should be given to artificers, even if they aren't quite as awesome as other legendaries.

What kind of "special event" are you thinking of to make a "true" legendary dwarf? Also, can we refer to true legendary dwarves as simply "Legends?" It's faster.

I would say at least make it just below the melting point of candy, im sure that wouldn't lower it's lethality that much (have little experience on this though)
Seeing as both 60,000 U and 20,000 U are enough to melt, if not boil, most creaturemats...probably not.

The biggest problem is, there's not many good thoughts kids get as babies. One of the few good thoughts they get is from mist. The trick is to have enough mist generators in the maternity ward (or equivilant) that the dwarflings get plenty of mist. Mist is good for a developing baby's sanity.

Also, try not to have too many of Bab'y family killed. That ruins happiness.

The bit about falling population is semi-expected behavior; at least, everyone knows you'll get a ful migrant wave if only one below your popcap. The other bit is...confusing.
