This'll be interesting.
If Stacy can't open his brain case, try to open it via some means. Then envelop Stacy's brain in myself, using a moderate amount of biomass to give him a body like this the size of a basketball, with two moderately sized arms as well. Eject his new body once I'm done and reform into what I was.
Use dynamic Will bonus for this; I'm going to need it.

No no no, make one like

If we're making suggestions, I suggest this.

Roll To Dodge / Re: Aspects of Eight RTD [Turn 9: Life and Death]
« on: June 02, 2014, 03:47:55 pm »
((An Aspect of Life should be aware that mass extinctions aren't so bad. They provide life an opportunity to change, and more importantly a promise of bouncing back pretty quickly. After all, some survived; it's obvious that the deathlings can survive the water, and they'll be increasing exponentially. And as I've stated, their natural habitat isn't destroyed. They lived in rock, there are still rocks.
And you have to consider the consequences. The planet was draining life from everything in the universe, regardless of who made it or if they wanted it drained for Mort's purposes; isn't that something worth reacting to?

And if you claim that the effect was highly limited in scope, why did no one bring this up before nothing short of a retcon could get us out? If that's how little any of you care about such things, and if you're nevertheless demonizing me for lacking knowledge I had no way to know until it was too late, I don't want to be in this game.))

513
not everything needs to be retconned, but whatever
I know, but without being attached to Angel I don't know what to do with Nuriel, and without Nuriel's presence I'm limited in my options for what Angel can do.

Quote
I assume not all sort of abilities are already priced in the rulebook, so how would we price other abilities?
You'd be surprised.
There are two options. The first is to adjust an existing ability, but that's probably not what you're looking for. The second is to find some similar ability and go from there, like with the Immunity to Fire mentioned in my example. Most likely, we'll be able to get dang near any ability's cost approximated if we can think of some way to handle GURPS's spells.
Well, then there's stuff that relies heavily on the system's mechanics (e.g, Kyle's halve-physical-damage ability), but I have surprisingly little sympathy for such abilities. No offense, kj, but something so unexplained just bugs me. Still, give me time, and I'll approximate something. Anything like this is going to be run by everyone else first, to make sure that my logic didn't miss some important bit of data.

Colonization: If by some miracle both nqt and Kashyyk take Unskilled, take the Skilled. Otherwise, claim my Unskilled idler.

Production: Farms, CC, Harvester (+2 Wealth, +1 Raw Resources)

Trade: Sell both Raw Recourceses (+4 Wealth), buy 2 Basic Machines and 1 Basic Goods (-19 Wealth). Contract for some Basic Goods.

Anyone interested in either lending me a few Wealth (if I can get 3 more I can afford a second Basic Goods) or making a of some sort that otherwise gets me a Basic Goods?

515
While everyone is yelling at each other again, I'd like to post my three tidbits.

-snip-

Looks good/interesting?
#1 is...let's say interesting, since several characters came from other worlds.
#2 is good.
#3 doesn't make sense. Golems aren't much more capable than robots and are certainly more expensive. Moreover, since robots and such haven't caused a huge increase in unemployment over a world without any automation, why would golems do the same to a world with loads of automation?

I..uhm...have no idea what your post now wants us to do.

Could you perhaps make an example GWG?
Alright. Here's hoping my head's clearer than it was a bit ago.
Spoiler: Neo-Angel (click to show/hide)

Because even if it was balanced in the old system this is a new system and therefore it can be unbalanced in it
And it wasn't generally agreed to be balanced in the old system.

GIANT ROBOTS!
Yes. That is clearly the most important change in the world.
I am being sarcastic.

And I will restat Sen as soon as I decide on how I want to handle her 20 something books of magic...
If we're going with the GURPS-based system of defining/balancing abilities, there's a couple versions of Modular Abilities (pg. 71 of the aforelinked GURPS book) which might interest you. A refluffed "Computer Brain" would probably work well. It basically means that she can switch between a bunch of different powersets that she has in her head.

Apparently the Willis Tower (formally known as the Sears Tower) is 283 Obamas tall.
Have you been screwing around with Wolfram Alpha or something?

I am all for the USA switching from inches and feet to a better system, but this may not be the right direction...
Well, he is for "Change," but I don't think that's what he had in mind.

I thnk GWG is still working out a perk system.
Technically, I was offline.
Then doing ER stuff.
Then doing other RtDs.
Then doing other forum games.
Also I was slowed by various factors. But my head's clear now, probably, so yay.

Quote
but yeah, we are close to completition. For characters the one I can think of the top of my hat that still need statting are Sen and Ashley, and Projeck needs to come back for a slight for Ashley. And Sen, Sen is is just a load of work
Also me, but I'm waiting until we've decided the rest of the details on the character creation system.

right, Will! forgot about him
Also Angel and Nuriel. Or Angel/Nuriel, since if we're retconning anything when we go to 3.0 I'd like to retcon them separating.

516
((Winry's. Then you aren't normal.))
((Neither is anyone else. Not just on Bay12, on Earth. Also in the ISS. "Normal People" are as much a myth as people with wings.))

ICARUS picks the new X-Man movie. She gets a bit sad when the poor robots lose at the end :( . She does note however that the way they adapt to the enemies abililities is something HILDA should look into...
((Basing HILDA's next upgrade off of Marvel Universe Terminators*? This can't end badly.
*Seriously.))

"Fool, I may spread death however I wish."
"Then I will spread water however I wish."

"My blight is as much part of this creation as anything else. And equals? If you truly thought we were equals you would have had respect for my creation, instead of destroying such a large portion of it! Instead you simply did as you pleased, trampling over the collective work of no less than three aspects. How do you justify that?"
"I destroyed nothing. The planet is intact. The mockeries of life which inhabit it will recover. Nothing is gone, except the blight which permeated the collective work of all nine Aspects."

((It seems that if IronyOwl does develop Aspect PVP rules, Quinghai will probably lose. He'll have to fight Mort, Nohpalli, Firalk, and possibly Aquilos if the fight looks interesting enough compared to whatever else is happening.))
((I don't care. This game had promise, but no one's really doing anything. I'm bored.
Also, everyone seems convinced I drove the deathlings to extinction and destroyed the planet. I didn't. I gave it a big ocean, and there are still deathlings in it.))

Time to science!
I also hope to science soon!

You just bust straight in to the kitchen, walk right past the cook, who has spun around to look at you, and head for the hatch. You're about to kneel down and mess with the hatch when the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. You throw yourself back as a meat cleaver hisses through the air and embeds itself 6 inches deep in the solid ceramic tile and brick of the wall. The cook grabs a butcher's knife from the cutting board near him and charges toward you.
I think it's too late to offer that guy a job. Shame.

(Low will is a bitch eh?)
It's one of those stats that looks good to dump, but that's actually important.

Kyle looks surprised.
"Sorry! We just came in to compliment your cooking... Well, I did, I don't know what these idiots were doing."
Not a bad story. Not a good one, but you don't have access to any of those.

I say don't punish Gilbert. The man dodged an Athlete suit, that's gotta count for something.
Obviously we need to punish flimsy for laziness.
Defying precedent, I agree.

521
Huh. That was hard enough to be annoying, but simple enough to make me wonder why we bothered. What perfect calculation.

"Alright. I think I'll shelve that idea for a bit..."

First off, fill out one of those experiment form things.
Spoiler: Form--Project Asartes (click to show/hide)
I wrote the latter form shortly after donating blood, so...yeah, I'm sorry if it doesn't make much sense or is redundant/repetitive/redundant/repetitive.

After submitting the forms, pass the time with the following:
1. Check the research I said I did during my muted week and determine the areas that ARM is superior or--more importantly--inferior to the UWM military in, so that devices to correct these issues may be designed.
2. Make sure that there are programs allowing me to estimate how long and how much material it would take to create beings of various characteristics in the fleshpits. If there are not, attempt to create one.
3. Check availability of lab rats, guinea pigs, and the like. If we don't have any currently, could they be grown quickly and easily?

Addendamum: If possible, gather materials needed for the above experiment (that is, several gauss rounds and spoons plus assorted small, ideally caged animals) and bring them to the isolation chamber with the Metamorphosis Device.

With actual mockup wars if need be. I mean, the dead Sod bodies can be recycled back into the 'pits, right?
Even if we ignore the damage to the landscape and equipment, and assume a 100% reclamation rate, our flesh pits have a finite output (which is why Project Asartes will be using homunculli rather than full sods if nonhuman subjects are unsuitable for initial testing stages). We'll lose the time.

523
If you think you'd enjoy it but worry that the game will "never be truly fun because it was never truly finished", just get it. It was hilariously fun from the very first version, and each patch has only made that better. It's not one of those games where you only see potential in the future, and it never gets fully realised. What's already there is amazing.
Like Dwarf Fortress!

And seriously. Does no one have save-editing-or-otherwise-landing-precisely-and-quickly advice?

Oh, we'd need a lot more than a dozen samples. Per planet. And each of those samples is one less soldier.

But aye.

525
It's exactly the same as it has been. Actually, it's weaker than it was so you guys wouldn't bitch about it like you are.
We were "bitching about it" beforehand, in case you somehow missed it. And guess what? The rules are changing. Typical stats were once in the low dozens; now they're in the single digits. That's just the most obvious example.
Now do you want me to try and balance your armor as a test of my system or not?
