Did dorms exist back when the economy still existed?  I've never played a version of the game that had the economy, but from what I understand dwarves had to pay rent, and a dorm would either be dirt cheap or free by my understanding.

So maybe it's more of a relic of older days than has a specific purpose these days.

Once the economy's back in, it'll have a good purpose again.

I don't think so. It does stop further jobs from being assigned in workshops, though.

I don't like it as a default, it would make cleaning up too indiscriminate and clumsy.  Maybe as an option you could toggle on or off, or better, a new designation that wipes away everything that isn't there naturally.

Maybe something like d-b-x would be useful, with the command either ordering all selected buildings to be deconstructed or stopping their construction, based on if they were built or not.

EDIT: Maybe you should break it up into separate stories, by turns, half-turns, or seasons, depending on how verbose the player was that turn.

The way I see gnomeblight is that it's basically a dwarven rat poison.
Makes sense for them to stay away from it.
Very specialised rat poison, which actually has no affect on non-gnomes at all.

Hold'jer horses, pardner. We can already make gnomeblight; if you want to DRINK it, you just need to mod the gnomeblight itself.

You can make epic stuff with Magma's aid, but not out of magma. Dwarves mastered the iceblock wall, not the nonsolidified magma wall.
Dwarves have mastered the use of solidified magma, however.  They build equally well with water as with lava.  Usually through the application of one to the other, of course.  :D

It happens to me a lot, especially if the dwarves suspended it partway through earlier. The only reliable method I've found to deal with it is to deconstruct the wall and have it rebuilt.

Try and build a magma forge or magma smelter. Only the magma-safe items you have will appear in the list.

You can put hatches over stairs. Hatches are like doors, except they go vertically instead of horizontally. Simply lock the hatches, and nothing will get through. Probably. If you want to be sure nothing can get through, build walls and floors so there is no path to the scary stuff.
Buildingdestroyers can destroy hatches...from above. To make sure the "scary stuff" can't get in, period, you need to figure out some way for the only entrance to your fortress to be from below, then slap some hatches on it.

You just need a manager to make profiles. Make a small office, throw a random Urist in there, and you'll be able to use them.

Maybe we should specifically ask for the tetrahedrite raws, since the whole raw file would take up the thread a few times over and tetrahedrite's the only non-hardcoded bit in this problem.

Um, the raws are in a bunch of files, and wouldn't fit in a single post. Even with spoilers. Plus, 99% of them could NEVER have ANYTHING to do with item value.

If I had to guess, either the clothes in the bin no longer qualified for the stockpile they were in, or some clothes that were better suited to the second stockpile wound up in the bin.
