I agree with the idea of item graphics. I'm not quite sure what you're talking about with the colors and stuff, but it sounds possibly kinda neat.

Of course, we have to ask ourselves: Is it worth Toady's time? Eventually, yes, but now?

It seems to me like air horns are a more modern thing. Gongs/bells seem reasonable, though.

Any suggestions on how to use them as weapons? Would my idea work? Would I need to get a stockpile on the other end to get them to toss the minecart off the track or something?

There is a cut-off date for tech, though.

Niyazov brings up an interesting point, though. The world of DF is not like our own. Magma's proximity to the surface and various properties make it a resource that should probably not be discounted when we consider the value of a substance. If native platinum could be extracted, it would be at least as valuable as...um...bauxite. Well, is native platinum kinda shiny? If so, an argument could be made for native platinum to go as high in value as obsidian, even without any ability to extract platinum.

This one should do it, and only affect creature with the class DWARF_INTER, which of course would be only dwarves, to make the reagion more... good. Would lead to no one really dieing, ever...

I'm going to undo the "only affects dwarves" part, okay? Otherwise it's too easy, and anyways my imagination is that the good regions are somewhat sentient, and can't stand death. Just like evil regions are somewhat sentient and can't stand life.

The gender thing is a bit off, but I suppose the in-game people who found the axe could have been non-dwarven enough to not know the difference.
