I think that only volcanism 100 is "always" a volcano.

Also, subscribing so I don't forget.

Check the Hall of Legends. Pirates of the Fondled waters. Not really disgusting as much as a head scratcher. I mean I've heard of hydrophilic molecules, but never hydrophilia.

Actually, molecules can also be hydrophillic, or even -phillic AND -phobic. For instance, cell membranes are made of two layers of phospholipids, which have a hydrophillic "head" and two attached hydrophobic "tails." The tails face the interior of the membrane, the heads face out.

And I'm playing a succession game where The Gem of Bows sent a fortress out into the wilderness. No bows, but lots of gems!

It's probably better than my DF computer--I usually use my netbook. And the FPS picked up once I had been playing for a while, but at first it was taking a while just for one frame.

53059
...What is making the FPS so low? Is the embark oversized or is there a hidden water reactor or something?

From the first-year post, it sounded like there was a whole ton of engineering and mechanism-producing going on - big surprise. How do you make a huge hatch-trap without mechanisms?  :P

First thing I tried to do after looking around was try to build a pressure plate. "Needs mechanisms." Not only that, but when I double-checked the dwarf list, no mechanics.

No mechanism-producing, actually. Not yet. Just mason's workshops and elbow grease.

Oh, and Wyrm, don't forget screenies.
I won't, I just didn't think I needed to since nothing had happened yet. Screenshots will be where they are relevant.

DF Suggestions / Re: Invention

Probably been suggested.

Currently, weapons that can't normally be made by dwarves (halberds, bows, etc) can be mooded, but you can't make more of them, or even arrows for your bows. I guess the idea would be figuring out how to say "Urist McMoodyBowyer made an artifact chestnut bow menacing with spikes of bat bone and whatnot, now the fortress (or at least Urist) can study the bow and make more, as well as arrows." This would be a good idea, especially the arrows thing.
Not sure about mooding gunpowder, etc, though.

DF General Discussion / Re: Badger men have taken over my mine.

Try to catch them, and put them in a pit. Drop in unarmed, unarmored goblins, cavies, and other weak creatures you find. Since badgerpeople are intelligent, they will learn. They will become super-powerful badger people. Then you can release them on sieges. Scary, no? Correct about the no: Their punches and bites won't pierce armor, bowgoblins will make badgerpeople no-longer-walking arrow repositories very quickly, and aside from making them more likely to attack, enraging won't do anything.

Quick, introductory "update." I left out a few of my initial impressions, but this is most of it. All that matters, for sure.

Incestchained: A History of Death and Recklessness

From the journal of Ber Goldenlizard, Temporary Overseer of Incestchained
Granite 1, 127
I have arrived at what will be my home for the next year, when either someone else from the Mountainhome or one of the locals will take on the yoke. A few quick starting thoughts:
They don't want any military or “traditional” traps. What do they want? A horribly wasteful trap that'll guide enemies through a possibly-deathtrappey corridor, and not so much as a perimeter wall. It will require a crapton of mechanisms, which brings me to my next point: We have neither mechanisms nor mechanics. Two farm plots have been built, good, but they seem to be more on diversity overall than constancy. Also present are a number of large rooms dug out in the soil, possibly for future farm plots, and a couple that seem to be for storage in stone layers. Oh, and dead lungfish every-fucking-where. And ONE bedroom. And that's just at the first glance. I really will need a lot of work to make this place not suck.
I'll start ordering some jobs to be done by the manager and--WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE DON'T HAVE A MANAGER?!?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: So, should I use this thing...?

Yes. Nothing is too stupid to do! Like I said once, there are no bad ideas, just ones that...

*reads OP*

...Yeah, it should be a great weapon.

In Dawnstone, a dwarf tantrumed and destroyed the workshop my sheriff/a few other things was using. The vandalizer was beaten, of course.
Did I mention that the sheriff was also a woodcutter? Oops.

I'll be downloading the save as soon as I find the right post and playing as soon as it's unzipped.

1.) Yeah, for workshop clutter all body parts are treated as the size of the whole animal.
2.) That "Giraffe Hair" is ALL of the hair from a giraffe.

53069
This is a good idea, but so simple I really can't think of anything to add, except that anti-modding sentiment is dumb.
