You can make clay that fires into creeping eye soap.

*glances from side to side*

CREEPING EYES DON'T HAVE BONES, AND I DIDN'T WANT TO TAUNT THE MOD-GOD, OKAY?!?!

Try a similar test of padded vs. leather armor.

How do you make a weapon good at chopping limbs off?

Nope. Without water, swimming skill or no, you're SOL if you get stuck in a pool.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Glitched fortress

When you abandon a fort, the dwarves "flee into the wilderness," but stick around the fortress until officials from the Mountainhomes appear. They also flee if new people appear. Anyone who might decide to live there, anyways.

Demigods and peasants alike die to bogeymen. Both can train up by savagely attacking random wildlife, throwing pebbles at walls until legendary (gotta write a macro for this someday), etc. The main difference for me is that peasants can't recruit companions until they kill something.

The only solution a TRUE dwarf would use...except maybe "Flood the cavern with magma," but that wouldn't help your problem.

Make an iron floor cave in on him. Or, if you're lazy, drown him.

Creepers? I guess they have cave-in-dust nullified syndrome or something to replicate essplosions?

At least, that's what I've done :)
Were you the one who posted the creeper mod? If so, yes. I saw a creeper mod, went, "Ooh! Another way to kill my forts too early!" and downloaded, but I forgot to note whose it was.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Worst, Most Unexpected Fortress Deaths
« on: October 18, 2011, 07:26:44 pm »
I just lost a fledgling fortress. It started badly: Ten creepers (modded-in Minecraft-inspired monsters), several crocodiles, a sturgeon, a sea lamprey, and four cute ducks. Those weren't the issue, though, the GIANT REPTILES RIPPING MY DWARVES AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS APART and the BIZZARE PLANT-THINGS TURNING THE SURFACE INTO A DWARF BARBEQUE were. I had one survivor, a craftsdwarf, who ran to the pick through a raging fire, then underground, and started digging. You know, I just might--nope, the burn wounds caused the last dwarf to bleed to death, literally just as I was thinking I had hope.

Efficient: Burrow them in a room with a door and lock it.
FUN: Burrow them in a room with a retracting bridge over a pit of armed goblins, then pull the lever. Or drop the goblins in from above.
Flashy: Drop the migrants several z-levels.
Necro's Choice: Drop them in a volcano.
Economy Necro's Choice: Drop them in the ocean.
My favorite: Build a room outside. Make it flood at the pull of a lever. By a combination of squads stationing and burrows, move the migrants into the room. Pull the lever, possibly after letting them get all friendly.
Cruelty Deluxe: Create a room with a source of fresh or well water and no way out. Build a drop chamber above this. Make sure to build it aboveground to permit plenty of vermin to enter. Drop migrants in, and watch as they drink, hunt vermin, and socialize. Possibly study the effect of a controlled and isolated tantrum spiral they kill each other once unhappiness reaches a low enough number. Don't let them bury the dead, and only memorialize those who either died glorious deaths (or did something else to catch your attention, like go berserk and kill everyone else in the migrant chamber) or who are annoying you in life.

Personal choice.

Wow, I was expecting Goldenherbs to be more subt...ah, right, dwarves. Anyways, hilarious, glad you can update so much.
Speaking of his mandate, you forgot to add it to the first post's mandate list unless I missed something. Presumably it would be in yellow, but it is not.
