If Toady could figure out some way to only un-stasis what needs to be un-stasised and convert an un-stasised site (e.g. an abandoned fort) into a stasised one, it would be possible, but I have no doubt that that would require far more effort than it sounds like.

How the heck is the dwarf living? It's missing it's [UPPERBODY] part! Oh, and it's head, but that's not a vital part for dwarves.

I read from wiki that you can tame sea serpents, so you gotta be able to capture them somehow...

Look at thelink:
Well, it should be. I seem to recall someone catching and then breeding sea serpents MERMAIDS, which should work more or less the same way as your average fish.

No, he really meant sea serpents.

I thought hunting x's were bugged. And by x I mean "dog, cat, giraffe, giant cave beetle, or whatever kind of bizarre creature the animal trainer hauls to the kennels."

So, aside from dying, hunters are good?

Would a random drafted guy who just caved in a ceiling on my legendary miner or something be able to make up for shot bolts with new bones until he got killed?

Edit: Also, would war dogs help out my actual hunters with killng critters and preventing tantrums? And what other critters would make good huntin' companions?

Well, for starters, only dwarves can operate screw pumps.
...
Other than that, it makes sense.

Do hunters provide enough bone to resupply their own bolts and enough other productsnto make up for their other headaches?

Because suturing requires knowledge of how to stitch up wounds while not to puncture various vital organs and clothiering requires knowledge of how to make nice-looking clothes. You might as well ask how someone can be a physics major but be unable to program a physics engine.

Why do dwarves sleep in aquifers and in front of angry giant badgers instead of moving a few tiles to safety if they lack room but are willing to go from the surface to Hell if that's what it stakes to reach their bedroom?

Edit: stupid "spellcheck"

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Dragon eggs...?

Except for the fire. And bear in mind that bigger, while better, might not be enough better to justify not breeding dragons. After all, it doesn't matter much if you're 76 times the size of a goblin or 67, you can still only kill one each turn...unless you have dragon fire.

If I were you, I would put them in a folder, compress it, and upload the resulting .zip.

Or half-trolls half-elves: Strong, tough, but weak-willed and able to be bred from invaders.

Wait a sec...that would mean they'd have to...you'd probably want to make the troll the female...ew...

DF Suggestions / Dwarf-Powered Power Plants
« on: July 23, 2011, 06:56:40 am »
Something like a screw pump, but that provides power instead of moving water.

Why? A few reasons. One, not everyone wants to drill a shaft through their fortress to power a magma pump stack from wind or a river or something, and operating magma pumps is likely detrimental to dwarves health. Two, it allows one to turn off pumps by telling dwarves to STOP working, and not to START working; the former is more reliable, the lazy alcoholic midgets. Third, it will be very useful once uses for power other than moving power, millstones, and screw pumps are implemented. Fourth, it gives a use for the pump operator skill: Higher skill means more power. Fifth, with high skill, one dwarf could operate many pumps, and that just seems awesome.

TAOI (Thoughts, Arguments, and Other Ideas)?
