Anyone, really.

actually it's will
...
I'm really confused about what Lyle was trying to ask, there.

Oh please, you elven bastards, we all know you kill and eat sentients *eyeroll*
+1
Wrong elves, guys. :P These are Arthurian/Medieval elves, so... no cannibalism. Still kinda dicks though.
I can tell. Say, wasn't this back when the fair folk basically viewed humans and such as mere animals and kidnapped babies to replace with changelings? Our hostess is very gracious. And probably doesn't have kids.

Genovefa nods slowly, "Is... That true?"
"No, ours is an entirely celibate relationship. And Hai, gossip is quite rude."

Quote
"I'm an elf, and certainly none of my people have ever done that."
"I'm sure."

Quote
"They attack travelers, of course. Perhaps even devour them whole, if you can believe the tales. Of course we haven't seen any... dragons or giants here, but apparently they are ferocious creatures, with the strength of several men, and armour that no sword that pierce."
"I see."
Will is unimpressed.

Why is it more grating with X-Com?
Can't prevent terror missions, can't intercept more than one UFO at a time, can't respond - mechanically, not for any good reason - to more than one mission at a time when they tend to come in threes, etc. Playing X-Com, you feel like you're fighting in a strategy game. Playing XCOM, you feel like you're stuck in a JRPG with quick-time events, and your character just happens to be shaped like an underground bunker.
1a. You can only intercept one UFO at once?
1b. There is a situation where you would need to intercept more than one UFO at once?
2. X-Com let you prevent terror missions?

General Discussion / Re: GreatWyrmGold's 50000th post tomorrow.

Assuming he doesn't sleep,
I wish.

I think that cheering on someone else's posting habits is kinda sorta creepy-ish.
You think it's creepy?!?

Anyways, my 50,000th post was about my XCOM Assault, Anastasiya "Socks" Smirnova, and her alleged testimony on the plausibility of scatter lasers in Einsteinian Roulette. It wasn't serious.

Hey, it works in XCOM. Anastasiya "Socks" Smirnova, may she rest in peace, can prove it.
This (the above) is my 50,000th post on Bay12. Odd. I would have expected it to be something...else.
((Speaking of which, did you know that if I bring up your profile and tell it to show your posts, I get 504'd 4/5 of the time because it takes too long?))
((Whoo!
I did not know that. Weird trivia.))

5601
"How would one go about doing that without being burned or absorbed?"
Who is this talking to?

((But yeah, seriously, can you handle it? If so... well, I'd do a second roster and pick the one of the subbies that you think fits best, honestly.

That way he still has a chance to get in, and other people can't get mad because they got skipped over and he just got it for free for little/no reason.))
Yeah, that might be best.

((But notes of rating make me realize a good way to solve this.
His rating was 34, the average of those accepted was...let's see...41, 41, 38, 37, 35, 33. Mostly higher, but one's lower and one not much higher...argh...))
((Wasn't there another person whose character had a rating of 34? Might be slightly fairer if both of them got in, if you don't want to kick Ensorceler out.))
There were also people who didn't get in who had higher ratings.

If you're going to let someone new back in, consider all the applicants first please. You temporarily enraged half of us with that desicion. I agree with everyone, he shouldn't get an instant in for free while the rest of us actually had to compete to get in.
Indeed.

((Ah ok I thought you meant that you just missed his sheet entirely, well the way you slimmed down on characters was whether they were unique enough from the other members of the team. So maybe look if his character is different enough from the ones that are already in))
It is, but...ARGH!
I think I remember why I ran so many character-bloated games before...

"The difference being I don't leave my homeland to raid other villages."
"And no humans do that? Heck, some don't even leave their homelands to do that."

Quote
Kelyn frowns and looks away. "Maybe you are right. I'll believe it when I see it."
"I'll count this as a win."

Quote
"Dragons, giants, dog-men, terrible creatures of all shapes and sizes. Most of them are just stories, but we've seen enough evidence of them to be wary."
"Noted. I don't expect dog-men to be a problem. Tell me, how dangerous are the dragons, giants, and such, and why?"

"See this guy over there? (pointing at Will). This guy reguralarly beds a dragon. And he is one of our weakest fighters in the group."
Will blushes and glares at Hai.

I didn't "let" her die, she was ripped to shreds by multiple cryssalids.

And she wouldn't have had a chance at Volunteerhood. I never even caught an Outsider, and even if I had I couldn't have finished the Base Assault mission because of graphics issues. (Apparently, I don't have enough video memory.)

((GWG you actually did rate his character you just didn't mention why it got dropped out))
((The reason he got dropped was more or less "I forgot it was there". That's why this is an issue.))

((His sheet is pretty good.))
((Better than everyone else's you turned down?))
((Not really, I guess. ARGH! I kinda wish this game wasn't so popular...))
