"Don't mind him. While we are out here fighting a battle where anyone of us might die at any moment (except Ashley, I guess), while he sits on another continent making comments. Not even helpful comments, more the kind of comments a baseball fan watching TV makes about what the trainer *should* have done. He's not just a coward, he is a spiteful coward, and deserves no attention from you, while you are risking your life to protect your friends."
"Well excuse me for not attacking the world-destroying angels with my utter lack of combat ability past untrained fisticuffs."

Nuriel: Blast Dumah with fire. Also punch her. Angrily. Angry fire-blast-punch.

random.org has quotas?

Back off. Wish I had weapons, or feel silly if I do.

What happened to the plot?

"Have you thought of deleting her? It works for me when I feel something in my head is screwy."
Evidence that Kyle is a robot growing.

>Uh...no?<
Hi Elf! Is Richard ever going to react to Will's presence?

I personally don't see much character building here actually, they aren't developing much from any of the plots I've seen so far, regardless of whether they succeeded or failed.
I think that's largely because she hasn't participated in any, aside from snarking. I hope to resolve this issue by--shocker--having a plot take place in a place that isn't Australia!

Not really. It's adding fluff but you don't see her develop. Adding abilities or backstory or angst has no effect unless the character actually shows some changes.
Backstory can develop the character, or at least explain it, which is also quite interesting.
I agree with you in the abilities/angst department.

Personally, I don't see why we need such severe plots to catalyze character development. Not everyone is so important that they need an entire plot dedicated to them, furthermore, I'd rather confirm character development when it happens rather than being told that it is planned.
Indeed.
Personally, I see character development and such as a nice side effect of plot.

The fact that most of them hardly ever appear (Maria, Anima, Angel, Nuriel and that's main cast) It's not really that surprising.
I've been trying to get Angel and Nuriel back into the spotlight.
Turns out I do better with only one character.

Weeeeell, he did have a nice plot all lined up and whatnot. Literally ready to go down to the smallest detail and choice. Now...weeeell, not so much.
Projeck's plot is reliant on Ashley?

Also Emp, if Cyrielle keeps abusing the 4th wall with meta-knowledge, Marie's going to smite her ass. :v totally a thing.
So far, I've only used her to argue on my behalf.
Why not argue on your own behalf?

In fact, Emp, Twi, Kj, I want your various pieces of lore some time this week, so I can reconcile it with mine. Tell rag and anyone else with significant lore I want those as well.
Hi.
Although basically all my lore has been mentioned, either posted in various posts or PM'd and then copied over to the forum.

Grandfather Clause. As of Ashley's 'death', the timer was defined as a few days. The timer change should take place after her NEXT 'death'.
Aren't people not supposed to die in this game anyway?
Oh hi rag. Lunchtime.

"... You really didn't realize that verbally abusing a person is bad for the psyche?"
*Notable Freudian Slip below*
"Verbal abuse? It was criticism! People do it all the time, and I turned out fine!"

Ashley's avatar appears in the server. She stumbles and falls to one knee, her image slightly faltering due to her poor state right now.
"Oh, good. The cynical side of me owes the optimistic side of me five bucks."

Kyle nods.
"... Why does everyone else seem to have some supernatural way to just avoid death and I just have to take it like a bitch and hope that someone can get me a break to fix myself?"
"Name one other person with an automatic death-cheating ability."

Ashley just shakes her head disappointingly at Kyle.
"Ugh... Nobody understands..."
"I'm pretty sure everyone except Kyle understands."

"Kyle, I don't like killing people."
"Then I'll kill the bleeding thing if it'll make you stop complaining about having powers you can always use and with more applications than 'pushy windy while the thingy is out'.
"You've also shown a greater resistance to physical trauma. And a disinclination towards effective utilization of your mechanical talents."

"Your starting to sound like Will."
"Gee, thanks."
"Now you know what it's like."

"... Maybe put her in a sandwich and then eat it. Eating is a good way to get rid of fear."
"Hilarious."

Lyle is kind of sad because he likes tickle fights.

"Can we make or get things here?
Like, drawing supplies, for example?"
"I haven't coded stuff like that in, no. Maybe you could...brute-force in some, but it wouldn't be easy."
(Let's say a fairly difficult Mind roll to do it.)

Selina sighs, feeling a bit useless again... And she needed to spend time with Maria again, she almost NEVER got to spend time with Nuriel, and she still hadn't spent time with Shys'm Caes... this was depressing...
Nuriel's avatar hugs Selina's avatar.

I'm just hoping we find our way back when we're adults, so that Derry can pull off The Reason You Suck Speech, No Holds Barred Beatdown, Unstoppable Rage and Extreme Melee Revenge. It will be insane.
I know this isn't what you meant, but I got an amusing vision...
"Alright, kid, you're back. I hope you--AH OH GOD WHY ARE YOU BEATING ME UP?!?"

I'm just hoping we find our way back when we're adults, so that Derry can pull off The Reason You Suck Speech, No Holds Barred Beatdown, Unstoppable Rage and Extreme Melee Revenge. It will be insane.
To who?
His abusive parents.
Five bucks says Derry can't find them.

Quote
For the entire time I've been joined to this game I intended for Kyle to become a sky pirate rogue type. Derry can join his swarthy crew.
Derry would probably do better on solid land as a Friend Of Nature/Robin Hood/Noble Savage type.
More Cpt. Sparrow than Sgt. Hood.

Wouldn't they be really old by that point and people would call him out for beating the shit out of old people?
I meal they don't in Skyrim when you punch Grelod to death, but in that game you're the Dragonborn.
That's what the Reason You Suck Speech is for. So everyone knows how bad they are. Beth knows... part of it. The rest of the group knows scraps. Most adults know barely anything. Trust me, NO ONE will try to stop Derry from killing them.
Some people always try to stop killings. Especially when it's a powerful young man beating up a couple senior citizens. Especially especially if the assailant doesn't have any proof for his accusations.

They can try, but I don't think any of them could measure up to RAGE!Derry now...
I think you have a bit of an inflated image of your character's abilities.
Or else I've forgotten one or two things.

Indiana Jones was a grave robber who killed like, five people.
Also, that's pretty morbid GL.
It could be worse. Older drafts had him as a pedophile as well.
(And it's not grave robbing if you write papers and donate what you find to museums and stuff.)

Oh wait, you can't do that since it's pretty much happened in all of them already and it tears me apart that I can't make an interesting character to save my life.
Your characters aren't un-interesting, they're just stupid.

Remember how I promised to drop the matter if UP did?

This fact is not altered just because she changed her mind afterwards and had the doc revive him.
Um, she didn't change her mind. She discovered that her actions as-is would lead to permadeath and left you in the care of licensed medical professionals.

Auron never acknowledged Simus authority over him extending past the survey
So?

Quote
and this was never corrected by Steve.
Yes it was. Right before the electrocutions. (Or was it right after?)

Quote
even after the electrocution he only requested that Auron follow her orders, he never ordered it
That's politeness, in my view. The fact that he wanted it done should be enough, and in case it isn't the electrocution should have made his desires clear.

Quote
and he never stated that Auron was incorrect in assuming he was previously operating outside of Simus authority.
Of course not, he let the electrocution do the talking for him.
When was the last time you got shocked and hadn't done something wrong?

Quote
Auron can claim temporary insanity for the assault, Simus cant plead shit for murder.
Temporary insanity just means you get locked up in a mental ward instead of a jail cell, you know. And when everyone is more or less permanently insane, temporary insanity probably isn't a defense.
Besides, she can plead several things. Temporary insanity, for reasons as good as Auron's (unless he claims that the electrocution screwed with his sanity), for instance. She would also have her hypothetical sentence reduced due to her lack of desire to actually kill Auron (and really, what did she do to him?), and her damaged emotional state due to both Auron's attitude and his actions.

Quote
you say Jim wants to avoid complications later on but punishing auron for ignoring the authority of those he was never instructed to respect,
Yes he did. Belatedly, but he did.

reflexively attacking someone who caused great pain to befall him
"Reflexively"? Good luck defending that in court. And Simus told Steve to decide whether to shock you or not; she wasn't the cause any more than the postman who informed FDR of Pearl Harbor was the cause of American involvement in WWII.

MINOR?!?

Now, stop getting things wrong just to try to drag this out.
To be fair, that's not his intent. His intent is to get his way, dragging this out is his method.

You are a UWM councilman, discussing how to deal with the worker rebellion on Hephaestus. Known assets include massive industrial capability and advanced defense systems, notably including laser batteries which will shoot down most incoming projectiles. They may also have seized some dangerous weapons from an HMRC craft which was scheduled to dock there around the time of the rebellion, but this theory is unsubstantiated. They have a year to prepare, as well, and they will likely use this time to make weapons, more defenses, and war machines.
What weapons and such would you advise bringing to quell this rebellion, with minimal loss of life or property?
Bioweapons, chemical weapons, EMP weapons.
If it was me leading the UWM Invasion forces though, I'd be feeling pretty bad to be a rebel. There's not going to be much left after I would hypothetically sort that situation out. Due to the massive production capability of the world, I'd start laying waste to every vital factory on it, starting with shipyards for starships and then hitting the facilities for stuff like armour, robotic units and the like. The only time there's be boots on the ground would be in the aftermath just to tally up deaths, and not likely then due to the use of drones and such.
No offense, but I don't think that solves the UWM's problems at all.
1. You're destroying their ability to make more war machines, not their war machines. They will be more or less as powerful as they were before the bombing runs.
2. Mission objectives clearly state that you not blow everything up.
3. Again, the laser batteries.

Chemical weapons. SO MANY.
Poison gases, diseases, take your pick. Kill off the little rebels with no casualties.
...except for the civilians. Not a bad choice, but not the best. Especially given the various defenses against chemical weapons and a lack of a good means to spread them, unless the chemicals can resist laser heats and massive diffusion.
(And diseases are bioweapons, not chemical.)

Good idea:
Get scout eye.  Get cutting laser.  Fly scout eye around corner, video enemies.  Shoot through walls.

Why has nobody done this?
I'm not sure, but the frailty of scout eyes is probably a major consideration.

Really, when I started this conversation, I had only intended to show that a quadcopter would be a better platform than a horse.
There is no such thing as a universally better anything, barring extreme examples. There is only "better for a given task".

medical capability
What's medifoam, anyways?

I swear if that thing killed me just like that, no rolling for it or anything, I'm going to be so mad...
Don't worry, every interaction with a player will require a roll.
...Then what just happened? I'd go back to my plan, modified because what the hell Cado*, but I think my target might be dead.

*There's a joke in the RotMG OOC thread that RangerCado is the god of the RNG. Dunno what's with that.

"A tickle fight isn't scarring. Didn't you ever have one?"
"And what the hell makes you think you can know what will screw up another person? I didn't, and I should be able to figure that stuff out! But I didn't and I screwed you up!"

A good way to answer that question is to switch sides for a sec...

Ninja.
Want to know the reason anti-tank rifles aren't commonly employed anymore? Armor. More armor was the response, and it worked. Quite well. Even modern anti-materiel rifles can't really hurt tanks (stationed enemy aircraft, small watercraft, communications equipment, radar equipment, crew served weapons and similar targets, on the other hand...).
Huh. I thought people just made stronger weapons to pierce the thicker armor.
Without knowing the ERverse's history, this is just speculation, but the high calibers of common (ie, non-specialist) weapons suggests that antimaterial rifles might be non-ineffective again.
