((On a side-note, taking a hill covered in artillery emplacements with just infantry is hard as shit. Unless you have grenades. Lots of grenades.))
((Or air support. Or the ability to drop the infantry right next to the hill.))

Quote
((Remember when they were fighting that one Something de Bergerac guy, in that big armor stuff? When they used advanced tactics to disable the Something of War? Seems like something you would remember, RC.))
((Yeah, no. There's a difference between being trained for certain situations (when faced with 1 battlesuit, do X, if you have that weapon, do Y, if Avatar, use technique Z) and tactical insight (take that building on the hill. It's surrounded by small houses, like a favela. Avoid civilian casualties, but beware of radicals hiding among them). You can train them in certain techniques and fighting styles, but effective commanding takes creative insight, something sods are notoriously bad with.))
((Two considerations...
1. Are we sure the sods were trained in those specific tactics for specific scenarios, and not just taught general principles and how to apply principles to real scenarios? It seems like the former would be more unwieldy and unreliable.
2. Even if so, what makes you think they aren't trained in such tactics?))

And don't get me started on the Landkreuzer P. 1500 Monster. That thing would've been heavier than your Baneblade (and possibly more effective, it was more artillery than tank, still a worse design in general than any normal self-propelled artillery).))
((Wait...I know this is off topic, but there's a tank more oversized, absurd, and impractical than one of the bigger tanks of the Imperium of Man?))

((Anyways, as to the amp specialists...also unrelated, but reading their entry gave me an idea. What if the reason they're apparently capable of having more than three amps installed is that the parts of their brain normally associated with walking, eating, breathing and such have been converted into more amp use stuff, which is why they need wheelchairs and life support gear?
Which of course brings up the question of the AM's space magic, which I suspect has something to do with a weird anomaly rather than mere amps.))

Take the razor.
"Thanks."

Beep
Grate paused the simulation for a second to check the message. It sounded like a high-priority beep.
Quote from: Simus>All
Any who would consider staying here with me, I would like to meet sometime soon to review you. If you're not otherwise occupied, meet me in the Sword's conference room. It's going to take a bit for my repairs to finish, so no hurry, but I need to see you.
Quote from: Grate -> Mrs. Simus
Dear Mrs. Simus,
Where are you, and how long will it be until you're ready?
Sincerely,
Grate
((An OOC answer in turns would doubtless be useful to me and others.))
He paused, thinking about the simulation.
Quote from: Grate -> Mrs. Feyri
Dear Mrs. Feyri,
I'm glad you're alive and okay.
Love,
Grate

((Oh. She is?))
((She never had much human in her since arriving, and what little remained was accidentally vaporized by Jim shortly afterwards. So yes, she's in a robot body. Synthflesh body, even.))
((Synthflesh bodies also have torso-brains?))

((Last note, I never killed fish guy.))
((But you intend to, you will, and no one cares. Call it "legal fiction".))

((Look GWG ill gladly refute all of your arguments through PMs but frankly this public argument is pissing off the bystanders and is in turn pissing me off because your forcing me to keep pissing them off with each counter argument.
Either get over your dislike of PMs or leave the argument be, continuing it here will just anger everyone more.))
((This, this is a good idea. GWG, I know you said you don't like pm discussions for whatever reason, but really, this isn't about you or your personal preferences, this is about not annoying other people and clogging somebody elses thread with endless discussions. You can send pm's to several people at the same time, so everybody who wants to partake in the discussion can still do that.))
((If UP is willing to stop complaining about how unfair it is that he's getting punished for using resources in a manner not permitted by orders and not stopping when told, then being belligerent about modifications being made to it, then shooting his CO when she called Steve, then I'm fine to just let it lie. If he brings up his complaints again, though, I'm going to be contesting them.))

((Wait, GWG, did you just imply that Alan is competent?))
((...When did I do that?))

((The problem is, not all the humans on the ship were "hooked up" and hence "pretty much dead anyways". The director, the guards, the random office workers and such Angel blew through...none hooked up to stuff, all dead. Unless those aren't people?
And when you say "If you had done the right thing, you could have not only saved ALL your hosts BUT ALSO all the random people onboard," and the opposite is pretty clear from where we stand, you're kinda implying incompetence.))

"I don't know..."
"Well, you see, anybody you didn't personally kill was killed by either us, your teammates - and you can't consider yourself our keeper or commanding officer by any stretch of the imagination - or somebody else, like friendly fire from their own people or that whole aliens vs. Soviets thing that started happening for a moment at the end. Just because your teammates are often strange, inconsiderate, murderous or fatally incompetent doesn't mean you have to beat yourself up about it. Sometimes you just have to work with terrible people, you know?"
Angel nods sadly.
"I still killed a lot, though..."

Just tell stuff about my surroundings to the rescue team. By which I mean any possible alternate routes or weak points in the blockade, as well as a panicked yell of "Quick, stop it!" if their efforts cause stuff to explode/fall on me.
((Or if they begin shooting at you?))

"Clever how?"

And don't even try putting Ashley on the same level as Kyle. She's nowhere up there.
No, but it's the same problem. And let's face it, at least Kyle had similar levels of priorities. Ashley is potentially risking the lives of her friends because she doesn't want to bother with tuning people out. It's not hard, people do it all the time.

((Actually, if you give them a book, they'll probably start trying to determine how best to use it as a bludgeon.

But if I recall correctly, the question wasn't one of giving them initiative, it was one of if they could handle complex tactical situations. Ironically, giving them simple orders is probably the best way to do this; something like "Take that hill" or "Guard this building" are hard to screw up, unless maybe someone slips past you, but more complex orders may have holes or contradictions.))

Will helps, trying to analyze whatever is conveniently near where Yuri needs him to stand.
((Um, where is he standing?))
((I dunno, I'm not the one writing the magic circles.))

Ashley glares at Will.
"It was purely temporary. Now then, time to go back to Paris seeing as I'm not exactly wanted here. Nor am I being treated well."
She storms off to go get her things from Maria's house.
[To: Ashley] <Testing. Testing. Help, fire.>

"So, Yuri, what did we find out?"

6703
However many Tori gets.

He doesn't have any magic, he's just a REDICULOUSLY badass swordsman with REALLY awesome weapons.
Where is Tori, anyways?

Conny was perfectly able to contact her through bracelet. Or Kyle, for that matter. She can receive bracelet messages while she's "asleep."
Assuming, of course, that Conny (and now Kyle) are aware of the whatever and not incapacitated. Which, since Kyle lived elsewhere and now is moving to an entirely different continent, isn't terribly likely.

If literally anyone in the main group except Conny got ambushed, getting Ashley there would require A. Conny (one of the, shall we say, less intellectual individuals in the group) to think of alerting Ashley and B. precious seconds to be wasted contacting and awakening her before she could respond. Given Ashley's mobility and firepower, and her ability to teleport people as well as herself, her presence is invaluable. She's endangering the lives of others...because she doesn't want "drama" in the background.
And you said Kyle was bad? This ain't great either...

6704
"A: No, fuck you, I wouldn't want you to wake me up. B: Marie has her ways, you should know that by now. And I was awake by the time she talked to me, which was after the explosion dumbass. C: Because fucking drama, that's why. I hate hearing everyone arguing. D: You fucking deserve that for calling me deaf, you ass!"
"A: My point. C: Yes, because not having to listen to drama is SO worth not being able to be contacted if anyone except a couple of people get in trouble. What if Conny's out shopping, or targeted first as one of the healers? I'm willing to bet you that not one of us would think to ask Richard to contact you, not even Richard himself. Good Lord, you didn't think that one through did you? Now hold on, I'm busy working on solving the terrorist attack you slept through."

Will helps, trying to analyze whatever is conveniently near where Yuri needs him to stand.

I like how "Some Fourth Option" is in second place.
With ten percent of the votes, at that.
Which is two people.
