Hunting can be sustainable for large populations, provided large enough breeding stocks are maintained with low enough population density.
Low population densities clash with high population, at least in spirit.
Eeh, whats 2million people in a million square miles?
Not the spirit of "high population".
Perhaps Siberian or Australian nomads?

As for the boats, There are quite large (30~ feet) ones that are wooden or bone frames with the leather stretched over, as all leather boats are made.
30 feet is pretty puny for an oceangoing vessel...
Tell that to the Indonesians.  :P

...Who used wooden canoes?

She finds the guidance counselor's office.
It's like the school is psychic...

I was referring to the theory that leather vessels were used for transatlantic crossings. Sometime towards the early-middle of the middle ages, at the latest, since it was before the Norse reached North America (before the Second Millennium).

On an unrelated note, do you think anyone had a special celebration that fateful December day when another digit was added to the calendar?

It is our moral imperative as Bay12ers to exploit this for all we can. Somehow.
Whole heartily agree. It needs to be exploited.
...That wouldn't even be possible. Stated by Rag.

It was on Skype.
This is le true. No permanent portals to Void unless you want constant invasion by eldritch horrors.
...What kind of horror would invade the inside of Yomiko's stomach? That seems like suicide.

Could we try shorting out his tech with the shocking mercury?

Other Games / Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown (New by Firaxis)
« on: January 30, 2014, 09:48:14 pm »
There's been something along those lines in the game since Enemy Unknown, actually.  One of Bradford's random quotes has him berating a control room tech for playing Civilization on a military terminal, and then he mentions said tech had better be going for a military victory.
Bah, military victory. So boring, so simple.

Today's report won't be for a few more hours, but I figured I'd post this. It's an early combat concept trailer by Firaxis that shows some interesting things, like X-Com soldiers communicating and idle fighting during turns.
Holy crap! That's awesome! I mean, varied action cams, combat that feels like a movie, melee combat (including a soldier killing a muton in a knife-fight)...why the hell did they change it?

((1. Does the AI holo-projector have practically limited battery life?
2. Does said holo-projector have communication capabilities other than voice and USB? How about sensors or other capabilities?
3. Did we all come out in one place?
4. Why do Jacob Hill and Gilbert Dorian have people in their inventories?
5. How much chatter/time can we expect radios to work for?))

  • Simus has Cameyes - she can see in the IR spectrum normally. Guess what spectrum the lasers are in?
((Um, why would the laser radiate radiation any direction other than the one it was pointed in? This ain't Star Wars. And those never really act like lasers anyways...))
((Considering we use continuous-beam lasers (no idea why other than that's the stereotypical laser weapon, a pulsed laser would be much more effective - if not as impressive, blasting craters and shooting holes rather than slicing or cutting) and are in an atmosphere, there would be some scattering from the beam - not enough to attenuate it, not at this distance - but enough to likely be seen if you had an IR filter on. Same principle as to why you can see the beam of the lasers that a lot of amateur astronomers use.))
((Oh.))

So? Posts are more convenient to people of limited temporal means or differing time zones.

Well, mean when Kyle is brought up. I mean just out of no where she's ragging on him.
No one likes to be abandoned by a friend, I guess.

"He..what? Your father couldn't possibly adopt me or something?"
...Why would he?

((Yay someone remembered that Hollis and Alistair are still Ryans. :D ))
Who's Hollis?
I remember, Maria's dad...which I first typed as "Maria's dead," which is much odder.
"I'm a bit worried about Will getting drunk and rampaging through the fingerling village just cause..."
Will got drunk ONCE, and he knocked down a barely-started outhouse in an attempt to get the attention of people specifically ordered to ignore him*. I think Hai's exaggerating Will's destructive tendencies more than a little.

*And when that has happened, your only choice for getting their attention is to do something they can't ignore.

Kyle nods.
"I'd say no to the taxes thing but it makes me feel like a feudal lord and that makes me feel happy. Also, I am going to let Will and Stella stay there. But they'll live in the tower as the princess and her dragon."
Will's not there. He won't be annoyed by you calling him a princess. That was a pointless insult.

"Hah, no way they'll move in though. If they do, make sure to give them a room that is poorly insulated :P"
...Am I missing something? Is this an attempt at being petty?

((Of course I am using darkling. Only newbies who weren't on bay12 before the server switch dont use darkling!))
1. What server switch?
2. What's so horrible about using the default forum settings?

That servoskull is never getting a response, most likely.

Albrecht is utterly confused why.
Best room in the house by her standards is why.
Gee, I wonder why. Could it have to do with the typical inhabitant...?
