Roll To Dodge / Re: Glorious Ape Empire RTD

They were meant to go to Io...
Oh, NOW you tell me that...

Blame the negligence of the God of Sense, Jee'em.
Deliver colonists to the correct planet.

Wonder how either Io or Luna qualify as "live-on-able".

Is...Ellen behind the Door of Canada?

7488
>Depends. In game, we'll be spending a day. OOC, it depends on whether or not Kj and GWG respond.<
Not my fault I have less than an hour between class and work on Thursdays. (Accounting for travel time, I mean. Ignoring it, I have nearly two.)

I shall go to bed, fuck you elf for making a mythological trial of wisdom be answered by "the internet". Might as well make a riddle about a mousepad
What a shame that novelty is a bad thing in your eyes. Perhaps you wanted another stock riddle? How about another Hobbit riddle? Or if you wanted to go real obscure, you could rob the Pearls of Lutra!

((4th wall is a thing, making a riddle that relies on meta gaming is bad.
...How the hell does it rely on metagaming if there's an Internet in-universe?

Quote
That being said, the metaphor breaks - the internet is not a country with no land. There is no ruler, no laws, not even a sense of nationality, the internet has no characteristics of a country - by that stretch, a talk via telephone, a family, or any group of people is a country.
There is a community, however. Many communities, in fact. Bay12, GitP, Reddit, Wordpress, Twitter, Facebook, etc. They're all under one overall banner, and they need to follow laws (albeit with no "national" laws).

Quote
The markets are not caravanless either, as stuff still gets moved via some means to the trader from the producer and from the trader to the buyer.
A caravan is not merely something that moves things around; that's reason enough to doubt, but a FedEx truck is not a caravan. Caravans trade at both ends, for instance, as well as including a number of vehicles whose drivers typically share a sense of camaraderie and close-knit community.

Quote
this is why you don't make up riddles on the spot. Because some metaphors are too much of a stretch. You use them because they sound nice, but they simply do not apply. The internet is NOT the answer,

Quote
neither is the actual answer that was given "bay12 forums" - there is not even anything that can be bought here, so there is no market))
Considering that A. Elf didn't want to let the party get eaten because the answer wasn't perfect (would it be fair to have the classic Sphinx riddle failed because you said "a human" or "a person" instead of "a man"?), and B. Camille and Will got it anyways...
And, again, it was that, or use another cookie-cutter riddle, or wait hours to days for Elf to come up with a riddle that might be a bit better. It's a situation with no perfect answers, and I applaud Elf for his choice.

((Caravan is a metaphor, if Elf insists on the literal part of "dudes with camels", then it all falls apart, especialy if the solution of the riddle is modern, and "a sense of belonging" is not a country. the internet is a communication plattform, and is no more a country than a bar or a family.
Ignoring the other facts that make FedEx not a caravan and the Internet more like a country...you're demanding a metaphor for one and a literal interpretation for the other. You're being hypocritical.

Quote
"All feel my presence" does not apply either. there is a billion or more people who have not even seen a computer up close, and whose life has never had been influenced by it, at all. The metahpors of country and market might just be stretched, but "everyone feels my presence" is, simply, not true.))
And those billion people are still affected by the presence of globalization, largely driven (information-wise) by the Internet.
Besides, weren't you demanding a moment ago that caravan be a metaphor?

""Mordite. Void in purest physical form. Death to everything living." he lightly throws it to her. "Except creatures of Void, obviously. At the moment, you and demons. It can still harm them, but not as badly as creatures of Creation."
How would it affect Angel, seeing as she's a mixture of demon and human, a mixture of Creation and Void?

The guardian of the wall runs into Kyle.
Which is to say, she is a small, petite woman...made of clay and in a tunic rimmed with gold.
Which dispels my last hope of finding something Kyle can't actually seduce.

"Dunno. Bit bored. Could get food? Bit peckish."

"I assume you at least know a little on how to use them?
Those speeches look very, very similar when placed side by side, don't they?

. . .
14 point bold. Gotta remember that.

KISSU.
It's REALLY GOOD.
and REALLY HOT.
BOTH WAYS.
I get how it would be spicy, but how would the temperature have been elevated?
Pretending ignorance leads to such fun jokes.
Demons do not grow souls you idiot. If we did that then we wouldn't have need of mortal souls."
Did you miss my infodump earlier on the nature of the hellish economy? Souls are used as workers, not food or prosthetic or something.
Although...that gives me an idea for some other story stuff. *scribble scribble*

Sen gets angry with Kyle's statement and nearly punches him, "DEMONS DO NOT GET PREGNANT LECHER!" Sen then teleports near ghost using the bracelet.
If only Nuriel could hear the conversation.

Why does everyone get to go in at once?
I wanted to solve a trap by myself...
Kyle's "solutions" included flirting with a possibly-yandere wall, charging across a collapsing floor until you fell in, and solving a riddle incorrectly. If Kyle had a trap to solve all by himself, Conny would need to settle for a memorial service.

Is Kyle secretly a conduit for the Rainbow Serpent or something? Apparently one legend about it mentions it being able to enchant bodies of water so that any woman who wades in became pregnant. Sounds awfully similar to Kyle impregnating any woman who sleeps with him... you know, if bodily fluids count as small bodies of water.
Neat.
Also, are you telling me the Rainbow Serpent...ah...impregnates any women who wander into a given body? Now, that's rape powers.

there might simply be no solution, that is the problem. "The bay12 forums" at the very least should have Cyrielle swallowed on the spot
1. By your logic, Hai and Kyle should have been swallowed well before that. Why not complain about that, too?
2. Cyrielle wasn't rightfully there, and Emp was making a joke as far as I could tell.
3. The sphinx was being kind enough to accept similar answers. If Family Feud does it, why not sphinxes? Your life isn't exactly on the line on the Feud, just your dignity and maybe a few thousand dollars of winnings.
4. CAMILLE GOT THE EXACT RIGHT ANSWER!

The day Kyle finds a girl he doesn't want to flirt with will be the day I'll wait for.
+1

Aria may count as would Jacqueline. Possibly Luna as well.
And if we include ships, we have pretty much everyone in Selina's harem, Selina herself, Kyle, and of course Will.

Horus shakes his head. The Sphinx lowers her head further.
"I said, who be this who enters the hoard? Horus I know, and I see you bring the Betrayer with you.

But who are these mortals?"
Will bows deeply.
"I am William Wyrd Warren, son of Walter Owen Warren and Jennifer Anna Warren. I come from a distant world, a world of different rules and different magic. I came here with friends to seek adventure and new knowledge, and am here to help save one of the friends and allies I came here to join."

I shall ask you three riddles, that all must answer. Succeed, and you shall proceed. Fail...."
The Sphinx licks her lips.
"Are you prepared for your first riddle?"
"I suppose, although I'd rather know if the threat applies to all or merely the one who fails so that I know if I need to silence the more...impulsive members of the group."

"Very well."
The Sphinx clears its throat.
"Before me there was nothing, and after me there will be  nothing. I reduce great men to nothing, overthrow empires, and crumble mountains to dust. What am I?"
"Time. And is that the best you've got? You might as well throw yourself off the cliffs now, save us all some time."
((Will is of course referencing the end of the Sphinx who Odedipus outwitted.))

"I am loved more than life, yet feared more than death. I am wanted by those who have everything, and desired by those contented. All men are born with me, and all men die with me. What am I?"
"Nothing. Geez, no offense, but Ra really needs to update his security systems."

The Sphinx growls, annoyed.
"Fine. Then I shall give you your third one.
I am everywhere, and all feel my presence yet I am intangible. I am a library with no books, a country with no land, a messenger with no feet, a market with no caravans.
What am I?"
"Finally! A challenge! ...That is not the answer to the riddle, by the way. Hm."
<First thing that comes to mind is the Internet, but somehow that doesn't jibe. Especially with that country note...and technically it has caravans in the form of FedEx and whatnot...and this sphinx is a bit out of date anyways...>

"...you already gave your answer, lecher. I want to know what the fingerling and the watchmaker say."
"..."

"..am I to take it that these...forums are on the Internet? If so..."
The sphinx grumbles.
"You are correct."
((I swear I didn't read ahead before Will's deliberation.))
"I knew I shouldn't have hedged..."

"Ambition."
"That was one of my higher guesses. Damn good riddle."

"None of your business, lecher. You already flirted with the guardian of the wall and now she's waking up."
"The wall is--Kyle, you'd better not have screwed us all again."

>...remind me, why is it that when I say hi to a girl, I get shunned, but Kyle gets a fucking wall?<
<To be fair, you have to be a unique type of person to hit on a wall. Poor girl probably gets some pleases and thank-your then gets ignored by every guy who walks past. For centuries. If that doesn't make a girl easy to wrap around your little finger...well, that would indicate either an unusual, celibate, or damaged girl...probably all three, after centuries stuck in the same wall.>

Set sighs.
"Boy thinks with his loins too much."
"Better or worse than not thinking at all?"

"Apart from some Germanic god, no."
Set sighs.
"I'm tempted to neuter him. If it gets him to STOP THAT..."
"I give that about a forty percent chance of failure in causing the desired effects. Also, he's supposed to be my friend, and he wouldn't like that."

Really Fraulin, stop being obstinate and let us help. Also, what in the name of Ca's golden brasserie are you doing Bethany!
Bethany has built a small fort out of pillows and couch cushions. She has taped a cereal box to her arm and is talking into her bracelet. On her head is a pot with a American flag taped on.
"<Task Force Egypt, this is like, Home Base. What is like, your status? Over!>"
Keith may have been dragged into this adorable silliness.
<Either she's acquired a new psychosis or someone set up a hardcore paintball league.>

Know what I vote for? To NOT do any of those things that require spare time and focusing in something other than battle while shooting a deadly creature, since it can lead to everyone's death.

Please focus in the battle.
We did. Then the turn didn't come. We decided on one of the very few options available, so we got bored and started prepping plans for the future.

Also, the name is kind of misleading. The answer technically has nothing to do with Canada. Well, except one thing.
You think we were seriously expecting those to work? We were mostly throwing rocks into the dark, seeing if any hit.

Is Anna behind the door of Canada?

Troubleshooter Angelica-R-LSN-1 is ready for deployment.

P.S. Friend Gamemaster, what is your advice for dealing with Commie mutant traitors in other threads who use the treasonous Darkling format, which renders nearly all text a color treasonous for all citizens of Alpha Complex this citizen is aware of, and also encourages the use of additional text colors which are nearly unreadable to those who use the proper Standard format?

7494
a sudoku that has 100X100 squares, each square wih 100x100 boxes
The math doesn't work out. There would have to be 10x10 boxes in each square.
Also, you'd need 100 symbols. You bastard.

7495
A giant, cat-like creature looks down at Yuri, Will, Kyle, Camille and Hai. Its head is very old-looking, but clearly a human's face. It growls.

"And who be this, that enters the hoard of Ra?"
Will raises an eyebrow and whispers to Horus.
"Is this the riddle?"

7496
Kyle reachs into his holzter and pulls out the waser lsord.
Cue activation and use aganst hand.
Cue roll to not cut off own limbs.

((Stop blaming me when you didn't roll any dice! I'm an RNG god, not a shipping god!))
((Pretty sure that Projeck is referring to the fact that two characters were seemingly made for each other coincidentally. In other words by sheer random chance.))
Were actual random number generators used? Cado's a god of RNGs, not luck or fortune in general.
And, again, shipping.

how quaint that they thing Ra making a door only openable by being nice is clever, but at the same time Ra just plastered the way to open it all over the walls
It's what happened in the book he stole it from!

yeah, because the puzzles so far are so arbitrary when you can read the language, trying at least some alternative that we would have had to use if we couldn't read any of this is more fun
I find it more fun to just get through the puzzles. Also I find the image of everyone trying alternate methods while Yuri just stares at the floor... and then just walks across it.
I now have an image where people are trying various things, and Yuri points out this path that spells out "I Am Ra the Great and Terrible" or whatever. Everyone except Will and Kyle follow, Kyle having just charged across. Once everyone else is on the other side, Will, who has been grinning this whole time, walks around.

7497
<I don't know. I don't really listen to other peoples conversations. But you wouldn't know about that would you.>
<Mature. Think of the bracelets as IRC: Anything you say in open channels is public and you shouldn't be complaining about it.>
<Anyways, my point is that Selina would agree to damn near anything short of actual coitus. She's a bit of a doormat to her friends, so using her compliance as an example of what most people are comfortable with is a bit...faulty.>

Meanwhile Kyle offhandedly plots to give a major demon the middle finger.
[To Nuriel]<Hey Nuriel. Who is making Angel stay young?>
((Which group was that again?))
((Never named. Um...))
<Ersaros. Big demon. You've probably never heard of him. Why?>

"Do you think that we could just... you know, run through without regard for the traps since I don't really get hurt easy?"
Will sighs.
"Show of hands, who thinks the traps are going to be ones anyone except maybe the gods will be able to withstand, even one at a time?"

Well, Kyle, you now have a giant hand of sand slamming you into the ground repeatedly.
"That was remarkably light. Who wants to save him?"

Kyle sighs and with a quick summon of Merlin and cast if the move faster spell runs on ahead using the walls if possible.
He does...and immediately runs into a large wall.
"I'd mock this, but I'd feel crappy for it."

"Come on baby. Why don't you open for me and I can show you a real good time."
Kyle is flirting with the wall.
Will watches, half-expecting the wall to slap Kyle.

"Did that motherfucker copy a trap from Indiana Jones?"
"And the first two weren't terribly creative either."

Kyle charges ahead again.
"You idi--damn."

You."[/u]
He points to Yuri.
"You've got a keen head. Use it. We'll need it."
Will glares at Set.

"Slightly disappointing. But I'm still interested."
"...do his loins or his mind govern his thoughts?"
"What thoughts?"
Will gestures to the hole Kyle made after others were already finding their way across.

Will prepares for the riddlin'.

7498
That also sounds like it would be either impossible, nigh impossible, or nerfed. Possibly two or all three.

7499
<Yes, but when was the last time you heard Selina say no to anyone?>

7500
Maybe just tell the demons preventing the aging with Angel to fuck temselves and  get someone to age her up?
1. How do you think people would react to that? Especially Angel's parents...
2. Do you really want to risk angering one of the more powerful demons in hell?
3. Go for it, if you dare.
