"Why are you even here? So far all you've said is that our jobs a waste of time and it can't be done."
"No, I didn't. I merely said that your methods would provide passing safety at best."

"Better if you don't know how.
"...Why are you always trying to be so secretive with the other Directors?"
"And besides, the way you phrased that...what good is it to eliminate crime if we must become criminals to do so?"

And our orders were not to root out all crime.  They are to do everything within our power to root out crime where it exists.  There's a difference.
"And should we not attempt to take this goal to the highest level we could hope for?"

"Carl, I really don't think the intention of this organization was to go that far. If you're government has set up an operation like this, perhaps their next step will be to have some sort of administration to handle crime in the long run."
"I'll worry about such an administration when I hear of it."

"Well, the great watermelon rewards followers for being peaceful when unprovoked with eternal life. It also tends to punish criminals and those who assist them. Most of the parables are about generous servants and general good people being rewarded. It also advocates that if one must look like a bad person to help people stop actual bad people then it is good to do so. So, be a nice person and help others stop bad people and you'll be greatly rewarded in the next life. I would have gone with something more sensical but it's easier to make a water melon appear than an eldritch abomination."
"Useful, I suppose."

"How I handle funding, I have some ways that are good and some that are not so good. Better for you not to know if it comes to the not so good options.
"The more you say, the more certain I am that you need to tell us. We are still subject to the regular police, and if we abuse our powers to commit crimes...wasn't it you worrying about image? That would destroy it."

"If it comes to it I'll explain then, first I'm just going to ask John if he can sort something out.
"Are allowed to withhold things from each other now?"
"He's been trying to do that this whole time."

Look, we know we aren't going to get anything out of him.  If he wants to do his own thing, fine, but there have to be conditions on what must be shared and what is optional.  Such as group funding being mandatory, at least if we get any funds from that place.
"Any actions that could lead to this place being raided by the police should be disclosed. Any crime in general, really."

"I'm not going to withhold it from you, I simply don't want to fill you in on something that doesn't happen. If it comes to it I'll fill you in.
"...Fine, but give us forewarning."
I am going to regret this.

It worked for the Fire Nation.

Well, until someone brought the Moon back to life.

This is more than likely the first time shes ever asked out a  ~~CUTE BOY~~
For a certain definition of "boy," anyways...
Hey, if Keith identifies as male then he is male, and that's that.
From a certain point of view. From another, he has breasts and whatnot, making him a girl.
Regardless, it's a bit convoluted.

<But what's the difference between kissing that's rapey and kissing for comedy? I know that there's supposed to be a difference but there isn't.>
<Rapey kisses are what happens when one person intentionally kisses another who is not willing. Comedic kisses...hell, I dunno why any kisses are supposed to be funny.>
<Exactly! I never understood that. Which makes it kind of hard to explain why I did what I did.>
<Advice: If you can't explain why a "prank" is funny, don't do it.>

Blank looks away for a second before turning to Carl.
"It's about... a sentient watermelon."
"...If you hadn't started I would have asked you to make it sound less parodical. Anyways, morality? Parables?"

Victoriea turns to Carl. "No offense, but if you're focused on rooting out all crime permanently, you may want to run for political office rather than this line of work."
"Isn't that what we were told to do? I have no intent of disobeying orders."

Regardless of what they will and will not do, it is only fair and right that they receive salaries, particularly in such a high-risk job.  We work outside of the legal system, meaning that they will see far more action than the average cop.
"And they will need to eat. And want to do things like pay the electric bill, enjoy the occasional movie, and not be subject to the whims of their pension's medical plan."

"They won't need to. I'll take care of it."
"How?"

"They will get paid when I finish setting things up, until then that's all we can do unless you want to just send everybody home and give up now?"
"How do you intend to pay them, or others?"

(What happened to my dice? Did an NPC in this game put a magnet under my desk or something?)
((Why are your dice magnetic?))

<When it isn't obviously romantic men kissing is funny.>
<...Should I explain why your kiss was more akin to rape than comedy, or can you connect the dots?>

Brake lines is what I meant. I was not aware they were spelt differently.
Oh.
They don't have any reason to check those.

"My men will not be going anywhere. They understood exactly what they were getting into, money is not a concern for them and I'll handle it anyway.
"You really think that they can work for free, indefinitely? Or that we should have them do so?"

Roll To Dodge / Re: FUCK YOU, DAD!: BUSINESS FOR THE BUSINESS GOD!

Okay, I guess I'll concede that the kid might be too young to be embarrassed by anything we make them do at this point. But we still need some money, so let's sign the kid up for some experimental drugs!! and/or behavioral studies. The more untested the better.
+1!!
Imagine what would happen if we combined experimental drugs with a baby that just ingested some godseed(s)!
Oh surviving gods, what are you trying to do?

"We don't have the resources now, give me time I recruited 45 men in a day. I know a lot of people who will agree with what we're doing. We'll grow.
"Who was it that brought up funding issues? Regardless, our budget is in the low quadruple digits, whereas the normal police departments have budgets in the millions for the larger cities. Money makes the world go round--without it, we'll be unable to find anyone willing to work for us in dangerous conditions, and the employees we have will need to leave. Long-term, we aren't sustainable."
More grumbling.

The difference is that when the police screw up, everyone knows that they were following procedure.  But other than a few general guidelines, we have no rules.  We have no group ethics code that the public knows.
"As long as we don't cause abuse of that power, as long as we stay on the straight and narrow path" (for some reason Carl is staring at Blank) "the public should give us a fair amount of trust...and a single failure won't change what we get."

"How doesn't money help? Also it keeps people from becoming criminals."
Carl laughs.
"No offense, but religious people can be the biggest crooks of all. Regardless, unless your religion is eating up enough time that they can't commit crimes, it won't seriously change anything in that department. And the money...will help. Mention that directly next time someone asks you."
"...What is your religion about, anyways?"

"If we're talking about long-term, we could bolster education and eradicate poverty. That would help."
"That's an excellent idea, and more or less what I was thinking of. How? Even the poorest school districts are better-funded than us."

We have one goal, and one goal alone.  We are an experiemntal institution, loosely under government supervision.  Eradicating poverty or hunger is something that nobody can accomplish, nor is truly eradicating crime.  However, we will do our best to root out the most dangerous criminals and take them down.
"If we can't eliminate the root causes of crime, we'll be fighting a war that could never be won."
"They gave me a number and they murdered Valjean/When they chained me and left me for dead,/Just for stealing a mouthful of bread."

"Of course it is. I doubt we'll get that far, considering the limitations of Role Playing Games and such. Just a thought, with us providing all of our ideas."
((Don't mix IC and OOC.
Also, if we're thinking as big as "eliminating crime," we might as well start at the source.

Angel's parents investigate the break lines that I was not aware of until now.

"I will use it to bring lost lambs to the path of ritchoeusness! And for cash."
"And this helps, or relates to, our cause how?"

Kill enough of them and they'll learn to stay away. Or become extinct. I'm good with either.
"Or they simply adapt. Likely, the best we'll do is replace one kind of crime with another. There will still be desperate or disaffected individuals. Besides, we don't have nearly enough resources to keep this up indefinitely here alone, let alone across the whole state!"

(( Not anymore, some of us are more or less getting along now. At least as far as we're working in the same general direction. ))
((Well, we're trying to...))

7754
<Oh no. I just still dislike you and wanted to fuck with you. The fact that it would be more comedic than normal helped.>
<...How was that remotely comical?>
