It's not bad, but why have cheese pizza if you can have toppings? Usually cheese pizza isn't even cheaper.

The more you try to justify your characters, the more it seems like you're just projecting yourself onto them, which isn't very good roleplaying seeing as it ends up amounting to inserting a more idealized version of yourself.
That's another reason I'm advocating against that.

(Explaining doesn't have this problem. You can--hypothetically--explain Hypothetical Character A throwing rocks at Selina as HCA being a by-the-Bible fundie, but that doesn't mean you think lesbians should be stoned.)

Well, if you want to quit, then it was a good run, GWG and Kj. I quite like rping with you guys, as with everyone and seeing people quit is kinda disheartening.

For the love of god. All you have to do is stop trying to force your views on other people, stop trying or even expected every little action to be justified or excused by the players.

If the other players don't see what's wrong with killing people or putting the lives of monsters above those of children, especially when the children at risk are in the majority, I don't know what to say...

Yeah, we're both considering quitting.
Although in my case it's as much from the time commitment it requires as anything. These stupid arguments about stupid things that should not be hard to get are only icing on the cake.

P.S. Re: Characters being dicks
Have your characters be horrible people all you want, just don't make them go from "nice" to "jerk" abruptly.
Explain your characters' heinous acts if you want.
Don't try to justify them. That leads to arguments, which lead to Elf being sad.

Also, I've finally solidified the statup system; the first level up gets you five points, then the next five gives you one, until the fifth for five, then so on. Kyle's about four from his next major statup.
1. If #1 is five points and the next five are one, then #2-6 are all one, so the next one would be #7, not #5.
2. Why not just make it a static number of points per level?
3. What level is everyone at?

The hostility was partially my fault again, I'll say that.
Out of curiosity...do you try that in real life, too, or just online?

So... you're saying that there is no reason for me to actually try and best things using guile and instead should just beat them up?

I think I'm getting screwed again.
Again: Feel free to beat things however you like, just don't expect anyone to like it if you criticize how we do the same.

Argh. I hate when debates get cut off. I understand, but that doesn't make me like it.
Killing people isn't always wrong, but death is, on balance, a bad thing and stopping it is generally a good thing. Hence, stopping the death of a number of schoolchildren by killing a manticore is generally considered good.

1. IC we didn't know it was possible until Kyle showed up.
2. It required a damn good roll.
3. We're more annoyed at the implication that stopping monsters who are killing kids is somehow morally wrong.

Yes, but...
A. it wasn't likely to succeed (required a damn good crit),
B. it really shouldn't have succeeded (you can't turn a lion into a puppy with some calm words)
C. Kyle seems to be treating the characters' decision of killing the manticores to be a heinous action, and
D. kj is defending Kyle's views on this last point.

That's insulting. Sometimes, using a hammer is the best solution, you know? It's worth the manticore's life to take the 100% chance of stopping the murders as opposed to the maybe 5% chance of calming the beast.

I suspect most people still kind of view Kyle as comic relief.
That. That pisses me off more than the pokes to his character. I did write Kyle to be a comic relief.

He's not the only person to complain, and if the other option wasn't "bar new players from entering" you'd better believe my characters would be questioning this a lot.

GWG, Kyle can be characterised however Kj wants, long as it doesn't lead him to doing a Darnos and permanently fucking up the world/players.
And that's fine, as long as
A. these things don't come out of nowhere, and
B. kj doesn't try to justify (not explain, justify) Kyle's heinous actions.
