Partly because I'm imagining it being something like alcohol; people drink it because they like how it feels to have their magical abilities interfered with. (Especially for telepaths and whatnot who can't turn it off.)
Partly because what's the chance that all the orange drink got contaminated?
...It's not orange juice or anything, it's just a drink that is orange in color.
