If we're arguing mechanics then how are bears being trained to play football at all? Bears have had no selective pressure to play football.
Selective pressure as in ancient times' evolution, not as in modern training. You can theoretically train a bear to do anything it is physically capable of doing. Throwing a ball with its mouth, or even holding the ball in its mouth without severely damaging it? Not physically possible.

You know that thing you sometimes have, where you feel proud for achieving something so many others seem to have mastered? I felt that just now, when I got Jeb back into his pod after he lost his grip on the ladder somehow.

This success was tempered by the realization that I sent my Mysterious Goo canisters to burn up in the atmosphere on that rocket bit falling below us. And that the game got increasingly screwed up I collected more science upon landing, until I had to force-close it.

Next, I suppose I could try rendezvous. Or I could just go about my normal business.
I wonder how the rocket broke apart in midair.

Mafia / Re: Beginner's Mafia Sprint: College of Cardinals (D2)
« on: May 17, 2014, 10:30:48 pm »
Difference: steak knives have a potential beneficial effect, and are primarily used in positive ways.
There are also laws against the negative uses of steak knives. That's all I'm recommending; instead of banning steak knives, ban stabbing people with them.
Oh, and did I mention that Mafia is just a game? There's really not much effect even if I somehow accidentally derailed a game.

Of course people don't have to stop at all intersections.  But if you pay close attention, you'll notice that all intersections will have specific rules detailing how you should drive through them.  Every single one.  I'm not even kidding you right now.  Think about this... Even IF it isn't a four way stop intersection, people still have laws to obey about that intersection.  What a novel idea.  So yes, you are being made to stop at certain intersections, or not talk about certain mafia games...
No. I'm not being allowed to talk about any ongoing mafia games, analogous to stopping at every intersection in my analogy. Some kinds of talking are bad. Some are not.

And by the way, please stop using faulty analogies.  There's a reason that's a fallacy.
Start explaining why my analogies are faulty.

Quote
For example, you attempt to use an obtuse analogy to justify your position. (as pointed out by Jack A T) It also tends to lead to more fallacious reasoning and faulty analogies as well.  For example, I can give you examples of how giving semi-automatic assault rifles to elementary students is can be good.  Does that mean that we should give every small child an assault rifle just because it might help someone?  Of course not, and the whole premise is a fallacy as well.  Assault rifles, and steak knives, are significantly different then talking about an ongoing mafia game.  So different, in fact, that it removes most validity from any comparison.
Wait. You're telling me to not use faulty analogies, which you hammer in by...comparing my analogies to something completely different. Why?
1. My analogies are not actually all that bad, if you don't try to twist them too far.
2. My analogy is like "Banning all of X because you can do bad things with X is bad because you can do bad things with steak knives". Yours was "Good can sometimes come of X, so let's do X without regard for the consequences".

I wonder if we can all get this to the banter and OOQ thread.

GWG, Please use relevant and pertinent analogies to explain your thought process, unless those are exactly what you think of it, because they're off rails most of the time  :-\
Well excuse me for not wanting to argue with you idiots so much that I spend 15 mintues on the perfect analogy. Why am I bothering? You're all zealots. Whatever mafia always thinks is right. Doesn't matter if it's this, or scumtells, or anything. I'm out.

846
This is completely inconsistent with the opinion that GWG has already forwarded about scumtells.  Several times GWG has claimed that scumtells are spurious at best, the most iconic ones below.
Fair enough. As I've said before, when I've got nothing but BS to go on, I'll go with BS. Doesn't matter if it's "X voted for Y" or if it's the generally-accepted forms of BS, they're better than nothing. Then someone points out that if I'm wrong, I'm hurting people, so no they're not better than nothing.

How long do we have before the end of the day?

847
I don't know. It would be improbable for them to be able to get trained to play football so is it that far of an assumption that it can be assumed they were trained to throw with their mouths?
It's not training, it's mechanics. Humans are unusually competent at throwing things, because throwing rocks and spears meant we died less. Bears have had no such selective pressure for their mouths.

Dak: "While attacks on allies are possible, they are generally not recommended."

Rikrin: PResent loot to some PC who isn't in combat. That guy warning that they'll be at this a while looks good!

Kill Everything!!!  :D
-1, let's think of something less likely to get us all killed.

It's a black-and-white, kinda stumpy tank.

What faction are we?

Who ever heard of a spider that's unable to make a web anyway
*raises hand*

Quinghai looks at the sun, covered in streams of gas. He doesn't want to give up, and tries to fix this.

Condense the water in the gas into rivers of water running over the surface.

Einsteinian Roulette / Re: Einsteinian Roulette OOC

Milno pokes it with the Mechanist Gauntlet and receives understanding of how it works. If I find it too dangerous to work with, Grate can stay with it and in case I have actually useful info of how to operate the thing, I'll sell that for a token since Grate doesn't have to care much about death anyway. In case I find it useful for me, we can negotiate a price.
I'd be willing to do that.

Had a pretty awesome space station I build, I have the orbital shipyard mod, so I figure that I should build a ship yard. So eight hours later, I have a station that has 50 tons of building parts, 100 gallons of fuels and a enough electricity to power the sun, So i decided to build a small probe to test it out and I notice it wasn't build so I waited four hours, then four day, then FOUR weeks in-game.(The nonstop swearing started here.) I notice I didn't include the FREAKING CONSTRUCTION MODULE! AKA THE THING THAT BUILDS THE DAMN SHIPS!
Stick a new module with a construction module and a claw up.

What's that? Just an asteroid, or what?

I discovered that the KSO shuttle flies surprisingly well. Turning is tough, and it doesn't fly for long, but still.

I tried to design a half-biplane half-modern-fighter spaceplane, but ran into problems with it flipping over. I switched out the landing gear (biplane in front, stock in back) for lower ones (fighter gear in front, wooden sticks in back). This didn't work too well and lead to repeated destruction of my back wing flaps, so I replaced the sticks with a fighter tail gear. That took a bit to get straightened out, but once I did I managed to destroy my entire craft again. I gave up on trying to fiddle with it like that and instead dealt with the high center-of-mass head-on, by adding three pairs of compressed-air bottles to bring it down (and extend the life of the jet). This worked until I tried to correct the direction I was going down the runway, at which point I kasploded. Not turning on the ground meant I managed to take off! Finally! Trying to adjust attitude lead to me tilting over backwards, then trying to turn downwards, then my wings fell off. I managed to get the wingless plane almost under control right before crashing precisely at the boundary between beach and ocean. Mad skillz. Seems I need to fix center of mass, though, so I tried to add some hardpoints to add more stuff underneath. I can't ever get those to work, though...
Maybe I'll figure it out later.

I'm not sure bears can comfortably carry a football that way, and I am sure that it wouldn't be a ball for long.
Also, how would they pass it?

((Finally, you said "get their claws on".))
